priority. tom: contreras was picked up last year, way down near the tip of texas, right across from mexico. law enforcement said he was ordered to leave the country. more than a year later, not only is he still here, but according to them come in falls church he committed a rape. a spokesperson with u.s. immigration and st herera-contreras has been a priority because he is a relatively recent immigrant, he is an alleged gang member, and he is now wanted for rape. tuesday we interviewed fairfax county police as they were working to catch contreras. they believe in july the

please call law enforcement. live in the newsroom, tom roussey, abc 7 news. alison: and we have following breaking news right now from fairfax county, where there is a serious crash on the beltway in springfield. these are live pictures from the traffic cameras at the outer loop. several cars are involved. all lanes are blocked. no words on injuries, but we do have calls to virginia state police and will deliver update jonathan: also in fairfax county, the police have arrested a man who killed his girlfriend by setting her on fire. the police say that lewis reed was arrested near richmond thanks to a tip. dolores williams died, 12 days after she was brutally attacked and set on fire. and hit by a stray bullet sitting at home, a woman on stewart lane today. the police believe she was not the intended target.

worker was attacked in northeast over the weekend. abc 7 first broke the story sunday. we have video of one of the attackers. d.c. police are offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest. that is in addition to a 50,000 other reward offered by the postal inspection service. the worker was threatened with a gun, pistol whipped, and kicked. jonathan: a officer criminally charged with assault and misconduct while in office. he is accused of chasing somebody in his cruiser and striking them with his car back in june. the man recovered, but hernandez, an 11 year veteran of the force, was suspended right after the incident. alison: there is an all out effort to get drunk drivers off our roads. a new patrol started in fairfax

to ride along with one of the officers. anna-lysa, this is a mission to save lives as we approach the holiday season. anna-lysa: absolutely,alison. tonight, there were no arrests while we were on the ride along, but over the next few months officers hope to prevent hundreds of drunk drivers and take them off the streets. >> we are patrolling stations four and seven, ic mason district. anna-lysa: officers are focusing their attention on drunk driving in fairfax county, working in rotations from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. this officer shows us what a typical night looks like. >> the main goal is to reduce fatal crashes. anna-lysa: in 2014 and 2015, more tan 700 out crashes were reported in the county.

alison: anna-lysa, thank you. new information, track inspectors may have known about deteriorating conditions long before the metro derailment outside of the east falls church station. officials questioned why truck inspections showed the same measurements time after time and asking if the inspections were actually done. the ntsb said that inspection and in adequate safety oversight led to the derailment. metro said they have made a number of changes, adding that the investigation is ongoing. jonathan: president-elect donald trump is making it very clear, putting company is on notice they will not be up to leave the u.s. without suffering consequences. trump issued that warning today after visiting the carrier air-conditioning plant. the company agreed to keep 1000 jobs in the u.s., and the state
