right now - road crews are gearing

weather - and for some, this will be the first time they've used their plows this winter. but, teams are ready across the region, pre-treating roads. you may have already seen some of those brine lines, driving last night. the timing of the storm.. coming after the evening rush and overnight, will help road crews once the snow starts falling. metro is already taking precautions ahead of the storm. metroaccess service will stop running at four this afternoon. it will be suspended all day tuesday. when it comes to the rails - metro says it can operate pretty close to normal when there are snow totals between four and six inches, but you may see some delays. with the winter storm warning in effect.. people are adjusting their travel plans. we spoke with two

tonight. the stormwatch seven team is monitoring it all. we'll check back in with meteorologist eileen whelan in just a few minutes. right now we want to get to breaking news in los angeles. jummy olabanji is following this one for us at the live desk. autria, a massive fire breaking out overnight at a warehouse in downtown l-a. nearly 200 firefighers were on the scene. no one was injured, but the smoke could be seen from across the city. a large amount of chile peppers were being stored in the facility - helping fuel the fire and adding an irritant to the smoke. right now, most of the fire is out - but crews are still putting out hot spots. a pennsylvania family still left in shock this morning after a fire sparked by a hoverboard killed a toddler. three-year-old ashanti hughes died after her harrisburg home went up in flames trapping her and two other children inside. the fir

left charging on the first floor of the home. family members inside say they heard sizzling and crackling before it exploded. those popular hoverboards have come under scrutiny by government regulators after several incidents of them catching fire. the flaw - battery packs that overheat. now a massive recall is underway for 500-thousand hoverboards made by 10 different companies. in another tragic turn, one of the firefighters responding to the scene was killed by an alleged drunk driver. lieutenant dennis devoe was a 21 year member of the harrisburg fire department. flags will be flown at half-staff in pennsylvania today in his honor. the latest now on alaska's one-thousand mile iditarod trail sled dog race.. mitch seavey was the first musher to leave the village of kaltag yesterday morning. his son, dallas, was close behind. but by last night..

wade marrs had taken the lead. meanwhile, some sad news: two dogs from two separate teams died last week. one of those dogs became injured, and died while being flown to anchorage. the race began march 6th, and is expected to end early this week. about 150 special olympics athletes representing team u-s-a are heading to austria this afternoon, to compete in the world games. in arlington last night, a send-off party was held for them. 17-year-old cornell gray is the only team member from d.c. he started speed skating two years ago. abc-seven's scott thuman was the co-emcee of last night's event. the special olympics world games begin tomorrow.. and run through march 25th. we'll talk with some of these athletes live, in our nine a.m. hour.. before they head to dulles airport.

the upcoming blizzard is bad news for the cherry blossoms. we went from possibly the earliest peak bloom-to a very serious danger of losing them! temperatures fell to around 26 degrees this weekend, which the national park service says could mean a loss of about 10 percent of the blossoms. but even more bad news. temperatures overnight with the snow will hit the low 20s. weather that cold means 90 percent of the blossoms could be gone. time now for weather winter storm warning in effect for d.c. and areas west from 7pm through 2pm tuesday. winter storm watch in effect for prince george's, anne ru

5 xxx and happening this week. two major deadlines for the trump administration.. the first is for the justice department to provide evidence to back up the president's claims of wiretapping by president obama. the other..an assessment on the plan to repeal and replace obamacare. the president took to twitter last week..claiming that the phones at trump tower were tapped during the campaign by president obama. obama's representative's have emphatically denied it. today top members of congress say the president must either come up with the evidence or retract his statements. the second key deadline could have a big impact on president trump's plan to repeal and replac obamacare. the independent congressional budget office is expected to release an assesment on the gop legislation that's already getting plenty push back. under the new plan..10 million people could lose healthcare coverage.. a point house
