3 flags are 3 flying at half- staff in knox county, ohio this morning... after a police officer was found dead late sunday night. fallen danville police officer thomas cottrell is being remembered by a black stripe over officer's badge.there is a growing memorial outside of the municipal building in danville.. with flowers and notes.cottrell is remembered by his co- workers as the type of officer the community wanted roaming their streets. 3 (dan weckesser/danville police chief) (:00) "tom was a, he's a dedicated officer and he ... he always asked me if, you know, if i needed help. military and federal agencies came together in the effort to find the missing marines.they searched more than 40- thousand nautical miles of ocean. 3 one of ben carson's campaign staffers is killed in a crash in iowa.. braden joplin was one of four staffers in a van that flipped after it hit a patch of ice.. it was then hit by another car. the three others were ok. joplin, who was 25, was volunteering for carson's campaign in iowa. the presidential hopeful sent out this picture after the crash. he also suspended his campaign.. and left south carolina for omaha to meet with joplin's family. 3 michigan's governor is publicly apologizing for the city of flint's water crisis. the city's water supply is unsafe to drink because of elevated levels of lead. additional national guard troops are being deployed to distribute water and filters to *every* flint resident. governor rick snyder will release all of his emails to the public today. 3 as you get up and head out the door crews are preparing the roads for the snowfall.and

local baker 3 is using his passion to help bring awareness to mental health issues. local 12's megan moore talked with the owner of o-c-d cakes about his own experience with obsessive compulsive disorder and the mission behind his business. 3 james avant was diagnosed with o- c- d as a sophomore in college. baking became an outlet more or less for him to ease his anxiety. born from that was his business, o-c-d cakes.o-c-d standing for obsessive cake disorder. his mission, to take a bite out of health. 3 "nope, too high.""there we go, i can work with that." for james avant, being a perfectionist is just part of the job. while his obsession

business quite successful, at times it has also made life quite difficult. "i had a severe case of ocd, i was spending 8 or more hours a day cleaning, i'd spend 6 hours spending a lot of time counting things. these behaviors are what eventually led him to see a psychiatrist... leading to his diagnosis his sophomore year at the university of cincinnati and finding out... "life changing events making that transition from high school to college can cause these types of things."an explanation that didn't make it an easier pill to swallow. "because the stigma is so heavy within our country, people label you as crazy, they label you as not being fit to contribute to society, and not being a highly functioning member and so i didn't want to tell anyone." "when i started getting stressed out, one of the ways i was able to manage my anxiety the best was through baking, so i would bake pies cakes, cookies and i would
