sand hill road, next to the former b-a-s-f plant.the landfill was closed in 2006, but previously stored construction waste, fly ash, nylon fabric and other wastes. under a brownfields agreement, the property could be redeveloped into a park with greenways, ballfields and a concession area.but there are specific requirements that must be followed to make the property safe for reuse.some people are have concerned about this redevelopment... so tonight is your chance to voice those and gain more information. 3 the meeting is at six p-m today... at the event center on the campus of a-b tech. coming up at 6, i'll share more about the state requirements that the developers must follow.live in 13. 3 3 a mcdowell county road remains closed this morning after yesterday's flooding. officials closed gilbert byrd road near nebo, which is a common trouble spot. a bridge was also washed away on calico
3 19:56 "we thought it was that deep, and i ststod in it and i sunk in it." county crews did manage to fix a dam at a private pond that nearly 3 3 3 clean-up will continue this morning across the mountains. this comes after flash flooding caused damage and left behind quite a mess in some places. one hard-hit area of asheville was biltmore village. crews put up barricades to block flooded streets. some businesses and property owners cleared storm drains on their own. that helped the water recede quickly, but it left behind a 3 3 the heavy rain also forced several offices to close in henderson county. the beverly hanks office complex had more than a foot of water around it when a creek flooded its banks. it also forced a doctors office to close. no word this morning if that office will be back open today. 3 3 another area hit hard by the rain and flash flooding was cherokee. a swift water rescue team evacuated people until the water receded. soco creek
section of smiley littlejohn road, leaving some people stranded. cherokee emergency services said four homes were affected. 3 3 a dog shot in the head in south carolina is now recovering in arden. a two-year-old boxer, now named amara, is in the care of the non-profit 'boxer butts and other mutts.' she was a stray found severely malnourished. it was not until she was admitted to western carolina animal hospital that it was discovered that she had a bullet in her head. amara is now blind and partially deaf. 3 heidi wagner, founder of boxer butts and other mutts: "it's not the worst medical case. i think as far as this one hitting me right in the heart really hard it's probably one of the top 5 for sure." there is a one-thousand-dollar reward out for information leading to an arrest. the anderson county sheriff's office is investigating amara's case. 3 3 3 new this morning... the founder of "wikileaks", julian assange, could turn himself over to the u-k police on friday. it all depends on a ruling by a u-n panel. assange
