bergdahl. >> the judge said general robert abrams must testify about burning letters he received from supporters and critics. emma wright is live in the studio with more. >> reporter: general abrams is expected to testify either by phone or in person at the pretrial hearing that is set to begin this morning. defense attorneys are also expected to argue a second motion that comments made by senator john mccain affected the case in a negative way. according to a report by the associated press, berg's lawyers say the letters were important because they may have contained leads that they could have pursued. bergdahl is expected to be back in court this morning for the second time in as many months. >> he walked off his post in afghanistan in 2009 and was held captive by the taliban until 2014. he was released after the obama administration swapped him foregone tan mow bay detainees. bergdahl faces a court martial on charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy which if convicted
colonel jeffrey nance said he doubts the trial will begin in the early part of the year. nance said monday the defense attorneys can propose a revamp of pretrial deadlines and he may consider changing the start of it. today's pretrial hearing is expected to get underway later this morning. day two of jerry sandusky's appeals hearing was held yelled. he was an assistant coach at penn state who was convicted in 2012 of sexual abuse of childr. judge will overturn his child sex abuse conviction or grant him a new trial. san dustry's lawyers say the witnesses in his trial had significant credibility issues. day two of the appeal hearing included testimony from the attorney who represents victim two. that person is a victim who did not testify during the 2012 trial. san dust -- san dustry is serving time in prison now.
