for anthony curtis macneill. they say he went to the home of his grandfather this morning and shot him. this is what the scene looked like earlier on wake forest road in fayetteville. police have been looking for macneill ever since. it appears macneill has been posting to his facebook page throughout the day as well. had morning, he said quote, just killed then several hours later, saying i'm not turning myself in. if i can't make it out of nc, i'm going to shoot myself. there is also concern with uber drivers around fayetteville, that macneill may be using the service to try to get around. of course, if anyone has any information on macneill's

office. carleigh griffeth, cbs, north carolina. fayetteville police are also investigating a shooting that left two people dead. police responded to an apartment complex on south wood drive just before 5:00 a.m. they found two people shot and killed. investigators say the shooting was likely the result of what they're calling a turf dispute. a man accused of kidnapping his son is under arrest tonight. marshals t that 24-year-old corey hotsen -- hotsenpiller was in the area. the violent fugitive task force, forced their way into a home to capture him. the 5-year-old will be held by legal services, until a legal

this is the fifth anniversary of irene's landfall. irene ranked the 7th costliest hurricane in u.s. history. also the first hurricane to make u.s. landfall since 2008. it cost about $15.6 billion in damages. bill, we're going to have a hot one today. there were some fun festivals going on, we're going to talk about a bit later, so there was let's go ahead and get a look at our forecast. >> it was fun, but it wasn't 98 degrees today. 90 in raleigh. 91 in fayetteville. 92 in charlotte. right now, it's 88 in raleigh. 90 in charlotte. see the yellow on the map? that's some cooler temperatures. rain cooled temperatures in the 70s. everything kind of rotating through toward the west. as we zoom in a couple of

billions in tax breaks that could have lifted north carolina's schools have been diverted into tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations. and what are we left with? the ratio of teachers to students is worse. funds for textbooks and supplies are scarce. teaching assistants have been depleted.

turning to campaign 2016, donald trump's team tried to qualify his position on immigration. wendy gillette reports from new york. >> reporter: donald trump's campaign manager told john dickerson on cbs's face the nation, the republican presidential nominee has not changed his stance on undocumented immigrants. >> first, there's still no amnesty. secondly, he's building that wall. that has been the centerpiece in his candidacy from the beginning, and it has not changed one inch. >> reporter: what has changed is trump's position on what will happen to an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants currently in the u.s. trump's original plan in november, called for a depouration force to send them out of the country. in recent days, his campaign

call a more humane approach. >> what you heard him describe there in his usual plain spoken, american way, was a mechanism. not a policy. you're going to hear more detail in the next two weeks. >> reporter: on the democratic side, the chairman of the party defended hillary clinton, after trump called her a bigot last week. >> donald trump has not held an event in the black community. he has not gone to a black ch done. >> reporter: the democratic candidate spent the day fundraising in the hamptons. trump had no events. >> clinton will continue fundraising monday in new york. trump has a campaign event scheduled. three members of the unc community will be able to use the restroom corresponding to their gender identity, rather than the gender on their birth certificate. pauly reed elaborates on what

court in mid-november to have this decision decided on the merit, but ultimately, this will end up in the supreme court. there's a case in virginia. there's a similar case in texas. several states have sued the obama administration, and then there's this case in north carolina. they will decide whether or not they believe federal civil rights law protects sexual identity. >> the governor's office said this is not a final resolution of the case and th carolina law. today, louisiana state police say an out of control bus carrying flood recovery volunteers hit a fire truck, killing two people, and injurying dozens. firefighters say it was responding to an earlier wreck on i-10. one of the two killed is the st. john fire district chief. he was among three firefighters thrown off the raised section of the interstate into the water below. troopers say the bus driver did

[ music ] ? good cause there, and i'll tell you the weather should be dry on tuesday for the blood drive. 88degrees right now, a few raleigh, as we look from the lonny golf course cam. some of those clouds rolling in from the east. the weather set up is a little backwards, a little bit, because usually we look to the west for things to come our way. right? that's what we're used to. this little area of instability coming off the ocean is just kind of drifting toward the west, and this way. so if you're watching us in the western part of the viewing area, southwest raleigh, it hasn't rained yet. it might, because some of

right now, they're over fayetteville. mainly in the form of showers. everybody has dropped into the 80s. these little showers will kind of hang in, and break up, as he move toward the south. maybe, probably avoiding the triangle. i don't think this stuff up here is going to make it there. the place that might get a little showery activity, ray hurst and pine field. cumberland county, it is cooling you down. just some clouds for us, and nothing virtually up along the virginia border counties. and that will all kind of die out later this evening as it moves through the sand hills and southern coastal plain. you see some clouds on the map. how cloudy will it be tomorrow? in the rays of sunshine for monday, i think we'll start out

so we'll average it out to be about a 4. mostly cloudy on your way out to work, or first day of school year-round. 70degrees at the bus stop. it won't rain. there could be a slight chance of a shower. most of the us get off the bus dry. highs in the upper 80s. 89 in raleigh, 88 in durham, and 89 in fayetteville. all right, i kind of teased you about we still have hurricane gaston, which is still a nonevent, because who cares? it's still staying out in the ocean. two tropical depressions formed today. the one that's got your eye is the one close to north carolina. that is tropical depression number 8 and is expected to become a tropical storm

as a minor tropical storm. the beach skims the outer banks. it will not have an effect on us. the other storm looks a little more impressive in the gulf of mexico. it's got more warm water, expected to become a thunderstorm. if it follows this path, the hurricane center, it will ride to our south on friday. we're not worried about this one either, because a cold front is coming through on thursday, and that will keep this thing out to sea, even it does clear the panhandle of florida. a few clouds tomorrow morning on the future cast. there's that tropical depression, that will turn into a tropical storm. hermine, because i think it's number 8, it will go first before number 9, there it is flirting with the outer banks with showers on tuesday. tuesday, blood day, blood drive, partly sunny and hot, about 90 degrees. then on wednesday, we'll see partly sunny skies. there's that storm still out to sea. that's the cold front i'm watching that's going to come

tomorrow, 89 degrees. how about the humidity levels? dew points in the 60s. it will get a little more sticky on wednesday, and about 90, 91 degrees. a slight chance wednesday, but thursday is your best bet to see a you shower or thunderstorm, because that cold front is coming through, and getting ready for labor day weekend. friday, saturday, and sunday, how about mid-80s. it's got to be a little less humid as a cold front comes through. just a slight chance, i was but i'll keep it in just for good measure. we're back on track. $100, high today. 90. so i mean, a cool day today. >> right. they had lazy days out in carrie. i know a lot of people went out to that. not too bad for them. let's check in with gibby now. >> there will be mystery
