leslie ramirez's father came around around 7:00 and noticed the lights were on and saw the little girl inside. police say the girl was pulled from the car a few minutes later but pronounced dead by ems. several distraught neighbors called 9-1-1 while other neighbors watched on as they tried to save the little girl. >> she was in the heat i guess. i >> durham police say that the death is suspicious. they say that they will perform an autopsy to try to figure out the exact cause of death. they say homicide investigators are also on the scene. in the meantime family members say they will hold a press conference later this morning to talk more about what happened. cbs north carolina will be there, of course. you can find jut dates on our website and

evacuations are underway as crews battle a brush fire. flames have consumed about 700 acres so far near beaumont. to control that fire they dubbed the -- officials are anticipating heavy wind and also rain. right now parts of the state are under a hurricane watc storm by leaning out drains to alleviate flooding and sandbag stations will remain open today. they want people to stay home or find a safe place to go before the storm hits and not put themselves in danger. >> also in florida, people called sandbag samaritans are helping neighbors prepare for the storm. >> i think there's a lot of good out. storm just bring them together.

so the latest on tropical depression 8. these track just updating. it's still a tropical depression and it's moving northeast. right now it's about 75 miles east of cape maddarus. it's not going to be an issue for us. talking earlier. still watch out for the the rip currents if you have interest in the coast. it looks like it's been shifted to west wean that being said, look what happens now. stays over land a little longer and could impact our coast as we heads toward friday night, saturday morning. more rain for the coast. even possibly a little bit of rain for us as we head towards friday evening as well. so 90 our high today. 23489 durham. 91 in fayetteville. we'll fall to near 70.
