of course they are concerned about safety. the class 4-a, class 2-a, and class 1-a games will now be played monday. they won't be televised. and the reason is a lack of hotel rooms to keep staff in cedar falls for the weekend. it also has to do with contractual agreements. but you can still watch the games on i-h-s-s-n dot com. jack: jordan creek town center is making some holiday cancellations tonight. this evening was supposed to be their tree lighting ceremony. but because of the weather-- that's been cancelled. santa, however, still still arrive at the mall about an hour ago. so he's available for visits now. jack: but the storm isn't stopping the east village holiday celebrations tonight. local five's kattey ortiz has the full details. "it's beginning to look a lot like winter here in des moines east village. this is actually the first year that the holiday promenade is dealing with weather conditions like these, so there will be some minor changes to tonight's celebration." "we've had really great weather."

"i think it's going to be will enjoy trekking out in the snow." holiday promenade is up against six inches of snow that's predicted to fall ... changing the lineup for the evening. trolley did have to cancel for safety, they have to travel quite a ways to get here. as of right now, santa is still planning to fly down from the north pole." but make no mistake displays will still be lit and stores will be open. tonight...be careful. we're already hearing multiple calls for cars in the ditch. local 5's lucas casey is back at the digital media center with the latest road conditions statewide, lucas. lucas: (lucas will write) lucas: we're looking at iowa dot maps here on 511 i-a dot org and right now roads are just partially covered throughout central iowa. as you can see from the d-o-t cameras much of the snow is still melting on the roadway, there are a few spots that are slow- going and we're hearing visibility is becoming an issue. if we zoom out on the map, though, we see a different story in north-central and northwest iowa where more snow has accumlated on the roadways. lucas: let's take a closer at this part of the state

the metro. to our north, many cities have been dealing with snow for hours. local 5's jacob pecklo is in clarion with more on how they're handling the storm. things really started to pick up around, and the snow became a lot more packy. so, as you can imagine, it was a busy day for snow shovelers and people who are lucky enough to have a snow blower. nats of snow blower starting' nick german says people in iowa should be used to the snow by now, but that still doesn't mean the roads were perfect. nick german, clarion resident: "there weren't any accidents that i saw, but i saw a couple close calls. of course, it's always the first snow of the year that gets people." and with the kids spending the night

onight one event, that's outdoors, says it's still happening. the living history cross country race starts tomorrow morning at 9 a-m. five thousand people are signed up to race. but with the current weather conditions, there's been talk of changing the course around. "there are a couple places on the course we may have to back off and reroute a little bit. we'll make that decision first thing in the morning, once we can see what the conditions are. " stephanie: along with the change in course, organizers say they plan on having more medical personnel at the event. jack: tonight's snow storm may break some records. it's not unusual to see snow in iowa in november. but the record for november 20th is pretty low. local 5 meteorologist james peterson is out in the storm now, james? james/dmc (james adlibs about weather totals)

make history as the first team to ever three-peat as class 4a football champions is on hold until monday. the announcement came-- and surprised a lot of guys on the team. now coach tom wilson will have to keep his kids focused on cedar rapids kennedy a few extra days-- something he's not worried about. "he told us the game was cancelled until monday. at first we didnt' believe him but then we ssaw facebook news so we were all a little disappointed but i think it'll be good for us. it's really tough obviously we're disappointed but we'll support what the athletic association thought was best and there's nothing we can control about it so we just kind of move on and do what's best for our team to get ready for monday. having another day of practice everyone is kind of excited and we get more time to play and stuff like that so everyone is getting excited because we get to practice in the gym obviously

we try to control the things we can control we've got a job to do we're going to try and do the best we can and i think the kids will come through with that and understand that we're just trying to get them prepared and we got a job to do. it's disappointing but it'll give us another three days to prepare for that cedar rapids kennedy team and i think it'll just benefit us that much more now we just get to relax and see how it goes now that we've got a couple of extra days of practice we just get to relax go through plays just make sure we have the right mind set. at the uni-dome. the beat norwalk 31-17 to claim the 3a title. it will send this group of 27 seniors out as champions-- and have them leaving a football legacy behind. "the group of seniors we have is amazing. i can't praise them enough. we've been such a tight knit group for so long and we have so many guys still out their senior year. we started in 7th grade with 70 guys out for football and now to 27 it's just amazing to see those guys go on together to not only bond but be outstanding on the football field is incredible. we knew that if we were going to win this game that we would game and that's tonight. i'm so proud of my team and i'm so happy for all of my coaches. they deserve it, they're the best and they put us all in this position for success it's been awesome getting it for these seniors they've been great leaders this year and they just really showed us how to do it. i'll be honest with you. you kind of start to cry and be filled with tears because you know you had an portunity and did it. what it takes to get to this point and what the kids have done. it's just so thrilling that it's a pretty emotional moment to know that
