" " see some more loss of jobs in short term. but over long term we believe they'll do research activities here in johnston, employment numbers will go back up again, possibly higher than what we have currently" " claire/bam: dupont pioneer currently has 26-hundred employees. and the merger between dow and dupont pioneer is expected to be finalized in the second half of this year. reporting live claire powell local 5 news we are iowa. stephanie: thanks, claire. and with this big change coming to johnston. here are some numbers that show how the local community will be affected by the move. the city council reported visitors to the dupont pioneer headquarters in 20-13 spent nearly 3 million dollars, staying at hotels and eating at local restaurants. dupont pioneer makes up almost 40 percent of taxabale commerical value in johnston and 9 percent of all taxable value for the city.

city council said it is vitally important to keep the company in johnston. jack/lam: governor branstad released a statement today about the move, saying quote we are proud that dow dupont's leadership has selected iowa as its global business center for its newly formed agriculture company. for the past few months, we've had the pleasure of showing them what iowa has to offer a world-class biosciences company. stephanie/2shot: the waiting game continues for the iowa utilities board decision on the bakken pipeline. jack/2shot: today, the board resumed its discussions about any and all conditions several concerned groups have expressed about the pipeline. jack and stephanie, it's been a very deliberate process... but the board appears to be getting closer and closer to a decision. the talk today was about timing, easements and overall communication with land owners while no one on the board has given an indication of

carolina primary.. a wall street journal poll released earlier today shows donald trump with only a five point lead over texas senator ted cruz, compared with a 16 point lead in a c-n-n poll released last week. for the pair of democrats, they will face-off in the nevada caucus. based on the latest c-n-n poll, it's likely to be a much closer race, with just one point separating hillary clinton and bernie sanders. today, local 5 chief political correspondent amanda krenz spoke with abc news political director rick klein about how some recent comments from the pope could affect donald trump's numbers this weekend.
