picked up. >> how can you turn down these lovely people if they came to your door, david and karen. >> reporter: we're off to a chilly start this morning, holding a metal microphone i almost wish i had gloves on. looking at satellite, looks like we have a decent shot of sunshine, but there are clouds from the south and west, clouds increase as the day goes on. 41 in philadelphia. 40 in wilmington. 37 in trenton. allentown which was down to the freezing mark earlier and popped up a little bit is down to 29 degrees, very cold up to the north. 45 in sea isle city. as we step outside to camp the bus over the next couple of hours, it will stay chilly. temperatures in and around philadelphia on or about 40 between 7:00 and 8:00. not a lot of wind, but definitely chilly. the smart phone on the train station platform says
41 degrees, storm tracker 6 live app allows to track the temperatures hour by hour. we'll do it for for you right now. 41 at 8 can mean. the halloween call is cool for trick or treating and rain in the seven day. >> we have an accident blocking are 535 northbound in gloucester county. this is shut down past route 40. if you're in the area, stick to 47, delsea drive as your alternate to deal with this. a medical helicopter heading to the scene. route 13 is shut down. we had a multi-vehicle accident they are doing the accident investigation, 13 is shut down near tyburn road if you're in the area stick to new falls road. elkins park at old york road at
ashbourne road. eastbound traffic at 29, 422 building volume. no problems, things are getting busy, matt and tam. >> we're following breaking news, the capture of suspected cop killer eric frein. this is brand new video showing frein in an orange prison jump suit secured in handcuffs. you can hear people shouting at him, being hauled off to jail. we learned overnight about frein's next appointment that would be a court arrangement. which is set for 9:00 a.m. this morning. u.s. marshals took him into custody yesterday evening near a vacant airplane hanger car in monroe county 30 miles southwest of ballooning grove where frein is accused of killing one trooper and wounding another on september 12. "action news" reporter, chad perdelli is following the latest developments live from frein's
capture scene in monroe county. "good morning america," chad. >> >> reporter: good morning matt we're down the road from the where frein was captured last night. police are conducting a search warrant looking for more evidence. a blockade has been set up so people can't access the old airport. frein was in a field outside the hangar, he was clearly caught off guard, he was unarmed, but did have weapons nearby. state police say he was wary and tired from their unrelenting pursuit. state police said it was a quiet take down and ended the manhunt for fbi's most want the. >> the u.s. marshal service had a team outty abandoned airport. when they approached they saw an individual that they thought was eric frein and they ordered him
to surrender and get down on his knees and raise his hands, which is what he did. once they approached him he admitted his identity and was taken into custody. >> reporter: eric frein was placed in bryon dickson cruiser and handcuffed with the murdered trooper's cuffs. he shot and killed bryon dickson and injured alex douglas at the ballooning grove barracks. >> based on on the evidence mr. frein has murdered with murder in the first degree. attempted murder in the first degree. having weapons of mass destruction and discharging a firearm into a structure and reckless endangerment. >> reporter: his capture ends weeks of hunting for him always schools closed and left the
quiet community on edge. >> i'm grateful for it, but it's nerve racking at work. >> i'm glad they got him and i'm glad no other officers were hurt in the interim. >> reporter: frein's arraignment is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. in pike county. the district attorney said he'll seek the death penalty. the families of corporal bryon dickson and trooper alex douglass expressed relief over his capture, live in poconos township, chad perdelli channel 6 "action news." >> thanks, chad stay with us with "action news" and 6abc.com for the latest on the capture of eric frein we'll have more on the long and exhaustive search to track him down at 6:30. >> we're following another breaking story, fire broke out in a west philadelphia apartment buildings overnight that left
two people injured including a firefighter. katherine scott is live at south 62nd street. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the red cros has set -- the red cross has set up a shelter, 69 people have checked in. the road is open, firefighters have wrapped up, but several police vehicles remain at the scene. the building is taped off. firefighters blasted water at the apartment building overnight. 50 units evacuated on the 100 block of south 62nd street after a fire broke out at 11:45 p.m. >> within three minutes companies on location, they immediately struck the second alarm. we encounter heavy fire on the third floor. >> reporter: one man said the fire alarm goes off to frequently at first they didn't realize this was the real deal. >> we noticed that the fire
alarm kept going off we didn't pay it no mind, we heard it going off and going off and heard people excavating the building, we went to the door, but had to go out the fire escape. >> reporter: it took firefighters over an hour and 20 minutes to place the fire under control did he four story building. 60 people have been relocated by septa bus to a red cross shelter at the high school. >> we cots, blankets and pillows and we'll work with the salvation army to make sure these folks have hot meals in the morning. >> reporter: the cause of the fire remains under investigation. we're live in west philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. the clock is ticking on a potential septa strike, union boss willie brown said he'll make a decision at the end of the day today. talks broke off yesterday in
center city, but will continue today. the union promised 24 hours before it goes out on strike. >> the maker of kleenex is under pressure from some over the profit over ebola. >> reporter: an ebola related lawsuit, the company is being sued for fraud for the marketing the surgical gowns as protection against ebola. the class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of the surgeon and other healthcare workers. stocks jumped. futures pointing to a higher open. that's the latest in business news from the nasdaq business site back over to you. >> a lot of people wondering how to get dressed this afternoon and tonight for halloween. >> reporter: it's cool right now. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows we're dry. as we take a look outside, sky 6 at the airport and the camera is not bouncing much because winds
are not much of a factor this morning, but it is on the cool side. take a look at temperatures as we are at 41 degrees in philadelphia. allentown has dipped all the way to 29. we have several spots in the 30s. 36 in reading, 37 in trenton. 34 in millville and 44 in sea isle city. a very chilly start out there. i'll bring in that always on day planner for you. you'll see how it stays cool. we'll start out with sunshine there's cloud cover welling up from the south ahead of a coastal system. there's more out to the west. we'll get sandwiched by the cloud cover as we go through the day. i expect sunshine to give way to clouds quickly and we develop into a cloudy afternoon sky cover. allentown's high 57 him it will be chilly this afternoon after a cold start up there. 59 degrees in atlantic city, clouds increase there, as well during the day, also chilly obviously. philadelphia, increase in
clouds, 58 degrees. the winds will not be that strong staying in the single digits most of the day. 41 degrees by 8:00. 58 by 11:00. 55 by 2:00. our high of 58 around 4:00 before sliding back to 56 at 5:00. trick or treating tonight. mostly cloudy and dry across the region. 56 by 5:00. 55 by 6:00 if that's when character heading out, by the end of trick or treating around 9:50 degrees there. him if you're closer to the coast there's a chance of drizzle riding in on a northeast flow. it's not a washout certainly. you can deal with drizzle better than a driving rain. speaking of rain on saturday, it will be wet. the coastal low will be closer to us, we'll see on and off showers spilling in off the ocean. it will be a damp condition for the rest of the afternoon. later in the evening we dry out a little bit. other thing about this weekend,
is the wind. it will be windy with the storm off the coast. there are a couple of them going by, saturday morning we could have gusts up to 30 miles per hour in spots. saturday afternoon, perhaps up into the mid 30s it will be a little stronger down by the shore where you're closer to the center of the passing low. even though we dry out on sunday, sunday is blustery with the winds turning out of the northwest we'll get guests up to 40 or so in spots on sunday. the seven day from accuweather today not a lot of wind, clouds increasing. cool for halloween high of 58. tomorrow, windy and damp showers around real uncomfortable high of 53. at least we get to sleep off some of the horrible weather condition on saturday night with an extra hour sleep you'll get your clocks back one hour. saturday, dry high of 51, brisk chilly wind blowing, it will like the 30s. monday things get better,

>> welcome back breaking overnight, fire forced dozens of people out of their apartment building in west philadelphia. the building is on the 100 block of south 62nd street. a resident and a firefighter were treated at the hospital. 66 residents are set up in a red cross shelter. the other big story this morning, the capture of eric frein. the man suspected of killing one state trooper and wounding another is scheduled to be arraigned at 9:00. >> karen rogers has more on the accident. >> reporter: this is the accident in franklin township, gloucester county, involving four vehicles and dump truck carrying stand. we have struck traffic out there, they are allowing it
through. you got to use 47 delsea drive as thal nate. you can see the delay right there as the headlights of people waiting. a lot of truckers using this road as you can see right now. 55 northbound is shut down it been shut down for a while. that's why we're seeing the traffic jammed in the area at this point closure point. they are allowing some of the stuck traffic to get by, they don't want you to take 55. take 47 as the alternate. an accident involving four vehicles and dump truck. here in falls township, route 13 we've been talking about this multi-vehicle accident shortly after midnight. a scene out there, as they do the investigation. 13 shut down at tyburn road stick to new falls road. elkins park old york road at ash

fox street. jammed from past broad to past fox street only one lane getting by. traffic is squeezing and creating a jam up southbound. gloucester county, 55 northbound at route 40 an accident involving four vehicles and a dump truck that was carrying sand. what they are doing is allowing the stuck traffic to get through. 55 northbound is shut down at 40. you have to use delsea drive instead. >> reporter: it's cold in some spots. my twitter follower alicia in glassboro new jersey reports 34 degrees. there's spots near freezing in the lehigh valley. if you're dressing the kids, sweatshirts, maybe an extra layer under that. him st. joe's university is the college on 6abc. if you're heading out to catch the el, 44 degrees, clouds

handcuffs of bryon dickson the state trooper frein was accused of killing seven weeks ago. >> let's go live to chad perdelli in the poconos where the manhunt ended. >> reporter: state police say eric frein was caught off guard he was wary and tired from the unrelenting pressure law enforcement put on him over the past 48 days. he was caught outside an abandoned hangar. we're a block away from the hangar. a blockade has been set up because investigators are conducting a search warrant look are to evidence in this case. one of the fbi's most wanted is in custody. a bloodied eric frein was taken into custody and placed in bryon dickson state police cruiser, he was handcuffed with the murdered trooper's cuffs. it alleged 48 days after he
allegedly shot bryon dickson and alex douglass at the blooming grove barracks. >> when this day did come which was talked about from the day of the shooting. he was placed under arrest with the handcuffs of corporal bryon dickson, which is appropriate. what she would be noted while everybody was out there, nobody else got shot after that day. >> the reason this was so important is because eric frein was dedicated to killing law enforcement members. he had at least one sniper rifle that we knew of. we knew he had a handgun. we knew at the beginning that he had explosive charges with him. yank of -- i can't think of a more dangerous occupation than going into the woods looking for

barracks in pike county there you go from monroe county to pike county. he made this journey down there. he is accused of killing bryon dickson and wounding trooper alex douglass on september 12. hundreds of law enforcement attended bryon dickson's funeral 6 days after his murder. he achieved corporal rank in 2013 when he was assigned to troop k. trooper douglass was hoppeddized for a month -- hospitalized for a month from his injuries. many held signs way to go psp to congratulate them on the arrival of frein in pike's county. it cost taxpayers $1 million a week. >> i'm sure it's worth it now that it's all over.
now to another story, fire forced dozens of people out of a west philadelphia apartment. let's he go live to katherine scott live at south 62nd street. >> reporter: one firefighter hurt one resident hurt, as well. both are in stable condition. meanwhile, 69 people have checked into a red cross shelter at a nearby high school. firefighters wrapped up a little while ago, several police vehicles remain on the 100 block of south 62nd street in west philadelphia. the fire broke out at 11:45. it's a four story building the chestnut park apartment. firefighters are met with heavy flames on the third floor, 75 firefighters responded with 22 pieces of apparatus. around 50 units were evacuated in the buildings. it took firefighters just over an hour and 20 minutes to place the fire under control. one man was asleep in a third floor apartment said the fire alalarm goes off to frequently
they didn't realize it was an actual fire. >> we noticed it kept going off and we didn't pay it no mind and then we heard people excavating the building. we went to the front door and smoke was everywhere, we had to go out a fire escape. >> reporter: firefighters have wrapped it up, but they had a long night battling this blaze. peco shut down power and ten additional properties were affected. anyone affected by the fire should check in to the high school. the cause of the fire is under investigation, live in west philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. we are expecting to hear from septa transit workers whether or not they plan to strike. union boss willie brown said he'll make a decision by the end of the day.
the union pledges to provide 24 hour notice before they go on strike. >> a little chilly for the trick or treaters tonight? >> reporter: down right cold in some spots. storm tracker 6 live double scan showing we're starting out dry. we'll start out with sunshine, cameras are bouncing a little bit, because the winds are light down the shore. as you step outside, it's on the cold side. temperature in philadelphia, 41 degrees. that's actually one of the milder locations. a lot of places in the 30s. winds at 8 miles per hour. so at least there's not a super-strong wind, but feeling chilly as you step outside. we'll get sunshine, eventually the clouds welling up with a coastal low pressure center coming up from the south they will overtake us. we're getting jammed with cloudy cover in the morning and afternoon. temperature-wise, 41 at 8:00. 48 by 11:00.
not a whole lot of improvement. 535 by 2:00. 58 is the high, probably around 4. 5:00 p.m. we're back to 56 with the clouds gathering as the day goes on. high temperatures very even south to north. allentown, 57. atlantic city, 59. everybody else somewhere in that range. chilly today increasing clouds. tonight, the only thing we have to deal with is the chilly air. 59 degrees by 6:00. 50 degrees at 9:00 p.m. down the shore there's drizzle because of a northeast flow coming in off the water. not too breezy, a little bit of wind blowing around, not too strong with the wind. all that changes saturday. we have a pair of low pressure centers that will be passing us by on saturday. that will create a situation where we see a combination of showers and cold chilly air coming in off the ocean and winds gusting to 30 miles per

arraigned on murder, attempted murder and weapons of mass destruction charges at 9:00 this is new video as the suspected trooper killer was hauled off to jail. u.s. marshal took him down yesterday evening put a relentless 7 month manhunt to a close. >> let's go over to karen. >> reporter: 5 northbound is closed past route 40. a serious accident. chopper 6 is was overhead. the accident involving four vehicles, a dump truck carrying sand and motorcycle. we were watching as they allowed some of the stuck traffic through. right now traffic is stuck and blocked. some of the vehicles were in the woods we saw a tow truck pulling one of them out of there. there was one person entrapped in one of the vehicles and one person was flown to an area hospital. we had a medevac helicopter land
near the scene. there you see a flat bed tow truck involved. four vehicles, a dump truck and motorcycle, they have a lot of to clear out. you can use delsea drive running basically parallel. 47 is it a good alternate. 5 northbound jammed in this area because of the closure and creating a problem. 47 is a good alternate. falls township, bucks county this is another multi-vehicle accident, the accident scene is cleared, the investigation continues. 13 northbound is shut down between penn valley and tyburn road. southbound has reopened. northbound is expected to be closed for a while. you can get by southbound but not northbound. you have to use new falls road or old bristol pike. a quick look outside to show you what it looks like. this is the boulevard we had an accident southbound past fox street, the same spot we had an accident yesterday morning. it is cleared, but it's jammed
on the boulevard southbound from 9th to fox street you because of that accident scene. >> high school football rivals in tennessee slugged it out. this brawl was going on after the game was over. they were i should unsportsman like conduct penalties while the game was going on. deputies and coaches stepped up and stopped the fight. no words if authorities will seek criminal charges. >> a parachutist needed to be rescued in missouri. he climbed a radio tower and got stuck trying to jump off. he was left there for two showers by the people he was trying to avoid, authorities were able to get him to the ground. the daredevil is okay, one would imagine his pride is not. >> we have photos of eric frein posted at 6abc.com and plus we
