police officer and he was he is a hero. >> steps of thousands of police officers turn out today to pay tribute to officer rafael ramos. he was laid to rest a week after being gunned down inside his patrol car. he was remembered as devoted father, husband and of course, a hero. saturday night and the big story on action in news is emotional farewell to slain new york city police officer. the funeral for rafael ramos took place in queens inside a church where the father of two served as usher. ramos was remembered for dedication to his family, job and faith. "action news" reporter kenneth moton joins us live in the satellite september were more kenneth. >> walter, officer ramos was called a peace maker and a dedicated public servant. it was extraordinary show of solidarity as one of new york city's finest was laid to rest.
>> they marched to the same beat their heart heavy with grief as they honored new york city police officer rafael ramos. >> he represented men and women of the new york city police department. he was the embodiment of our motto faithful, unto death. >> outside christ tabernacle a sea of law enforcement from coast to coast. brothers and sitters in blue. and inside a somber ceremony where a host of local leaders and dignitaries spoke about the public servant that was gunned down last week next to his partner liu. the shooter had a hatred for police and later killed himself. >> when an assassin's bullet targeted to officers it targeted the city and touched the soul of the entire nation. ramos a 40-year-old husband and father of two was a deeply religious man who was studying to be a police chaplain. >> he did not just have a bible in his locker.
he lived it in his heart. he was a cop for all all the right reasons. >> saturday, raim ocean's was made honourary chaplain at the precinct he worked and known for giving words of comfort during difficult times. undoubtedly words the fellow officers needed to hear at his funeral and instead heard phlegm others. >> i extend my condolences to the nwpd hurting so deeply right now. >> ramos's widow and two sons were presented with a flag 2459 draped his coffin. as that thin blue line gave a final salute. >> officers ramos and liu were promoted posthumously to detickettive an honor that will increase benefits for their families walter. reporting live in the satellite center kenneth moton "channel 6 action news." >> thank you, kenneth. one of the day's most stunning images though came outside service
where thousands of police officers gathered to watch the service and then turn their backs as new york city mayor bill deblaseo spoke. officers are angry over what they see as deblaseo support of recent cop killings. it was show of solidarity showing officers including philadelphia. annie mccormick has that part of the story. >> if queens new york an estimated 25,000 men and fwhem blue stood to honor fallen nypd officer rafael ramos hours before the 10 a.m. service police officers from our area traveled to show their respingts including philadelphia police who took two buses at the pop lodge in the northeast. >> if anything were to happen to one of us we would expect the same thing. >> whether we're philadelphia police department nypd or lapd all brothers and sisters in blue. >> members of the bensalem open or guard placed the back band
over their shield and collingswood sent us these photos. crowded funeral so packed they stood two problems away. it was just a week ago a gunman reportedly angry with police ambushed ramos and partner liu killing both. protests of unarmed black men killed by officers led up to this including in center city today where muslims peacefully protested againstp police brutality and during saturday farewell hundreds turned backs on deplazao in show of disrespect for what they see as his it up support for ants eye police protesters. and philadelphia police telling us today they are focused on honoring their fallen brothers and serving the community. >> regardless of how the public views police whether it's in negative light or whether it's in positive light we're going to continue serving the community that we serve to our fullest
extent. >> this is what we do. our liverly hood. we protect and serve. that's our jobs. we don't go to work to get killed. >> funeral arrangements for officer liu are pending and several officers from here that we spoke to today say they plan top attend his funeral as well. reporting in northeast philadelphia annie mccormick "channel 6 action news." >> we have breaking news from overseas now where air asia flight with 16 people on board as gone missing. the plane took off from indonesia bound for singapore when it lost contact with air traffic control. plane air bus a 32200 air asia established a call center for families and we'll keep you posted as more information becomes available. in other news tonight an off duty philadelphia police officer sergeants, shot and killed a dog which was reportedly attacking his own dog. investigators tell "action news" the officer was walking his small dog along the 4500 block of pine tonight when a larger
dog got loose from ownerch the dog goon attack the officer's dog and when he tried to separate the two he was bitten. the officer then shot and killed the attacking dog. the officer's dog suffered severe injuries and no further information has been released. investigators are serving for cause of a fast-moving fire that ended with a man seriously injured in hunting park. it happened before 4 p.m. on the 4400 block of north 8th street. it took firefighters 15 minutes get this under control. but 25-year-old dimitrius gordon was rushed to temple university hospital where he's being treated for serious burns to his hands and face. >> a follow up tonight to a hit-and-run in bristol bucks county earlier yesterday. medical examiner says 93-year-old jenry russo died of natural causes not from the crash it self. yesterday morning a truck slammed into russo's home and fled the scene. the coroner report stated russo did not endure any form of physical trauma she was in
hospice car suffering from lung disease. driver of truck surrenderederd to place later that day. formal charges yet to be sglild it appears another struggling charter school in philadelphia will shut down for good next week. bored of trustees posted notice on walter d. palmer school web site stating the school will permanent natalie close on wednesday. parents got news over winter break and now have to find new schools for their children to attend. the gesture's new year's bringing grade will wear something special on their costumes this year green ribbons in support of shane montgomery's familych the missing college student's mother and uncle brought hundreds of ribbons tractor-trailer gesture club house in south philadelphia today. shane of course has been missing since thanksgiving morning and he left a bar in manayunk and has not been seen sglins dinner table deliveryes fed dozens across philadelphia tonightch the food was dropped off at project home in spring garden and several other locations including st. john's hospice and

we have that winter warmth overhead and high temperature in atlantic city today coming in at 59 deagrees and 57 for the high in philadelphia and that's a good 15 degrees above average and 57 as well today in reading allentown and lehigh valley. 56. high temperature today in dover coming in at 54. and outside tonight 42 in philadelphia is that the our typical average high for this time of year. and 42 in trenton and 44 in the poconos and nice southwesterly wind coming in ahead of the front annual boundary an tracking 41 dover and currently sea isle city coming in at 46. here's satellite 6 along with action radar and plenty of sunshine earlier today and sun giving way to increasing clouds from new england all the way down auto cross the mid-atlantic region off to the west you can see moisture. takes cold front. weak cold front moving across the great lakes and ohio valley. this moisture works its way east ward as we get to sundays and we'll time out the precipitation for you. but here's a setup. it's damp and mild and you have an early shower north and west as this front arrives from a
