sea breeze kick in all day long, highs down the shore, 68 or 69. either way you slice today is a gorgeous day. tomorrow, it's a little more humid and we have downpours on the way. i'll focus on that when i see you in ten minutes. nydia. >> developing out of salem county, new jersey, police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who critically injured a teenager. the action cam was at the scene hook road and lee avenue in pennsville. the teen was walking along the road at 2:00 a.m. the sonata hit him. if you spot a sonata with front end damage police urge you to give them a call. police are looking for a vehicle that hit an 18-year-old left in critical condition. he was struck on ridge avenue in strawberry mansion. the victim was rushed to

hahnemann university hospital. when police get any clues on the vehicle or the driver we'll pass them along. new overnight police say a robber tried to hold up an off-duty police officer, but that officer was armed and ended up firing his weapon. it happened in brewerytown around 1:45. police say a robber pulled a rifle on the officer and his girlfriend. the officer pulled his own gun and fired five shots. he the robber got away, but police have his gun. it is ready to crest today. there are shelters open in case evacuations orders go into effect. in our area we're looking at a beauty of a day. >> reporter: showers anticipated, today the skies brighten up. today will be gorgeous, lots of sunshine and bright blue skies and low humidity levels. that's the flavor of the weekend up to this point. yesterday was relaxed and comfortable, as well. 59 degrees in philadelphia. dewpoint, 54, that's where we like to see the dewpoints of dewpoints in the 50s or less. winds out of the east at 3 miles per hour that will be the sea breeze for the jersey shore. look at the poconos how would you like to be vacationing up there, 37 degrees in the mountains. allentown, 51. philadelphia, 59. trenton, 52 and millville 53. here's satellite and radar, you can see over the last 12 hours

how the shower complex is traffic to the south across the virginias and the carolinas. now that it's pulled through it's providing us with a nice day. air sinks underneath the high so it's hard to get cloud cover when the air is sinking. this is an area of low pressure with a trailing cold front that's a good complex of showers and storms that will race east across the northern tier states over the next 24, 48 hours, that will trigger drenching downpours. here's double scan live, menacing, as it approaches, milwaukee and chicago. some of the downpours are producing rates of up to 2 inches per hour that's tracking east. today, combination of sun and clouds, high, thin clouds, the sun shines right through them. tomorrow morning tomorrow we'll see a combination of sun and

engineer have been placed in police custody. in allentown, friends and family gathered to honor a girl who fell from a 4th floor women. they left flowers and stuffed animals at the scene where she and her sister fell friday night. her sister was last reported in critical condition. investigators are calling the fall a tragic accident. federal aviation officials are looking into an accident involving two airline planes at a california airport this weekend. you can see the airlines touching at bop hope airport. they were pulling away from the terminal when they bumped into one another. passengers were returned to the terminal and booked on other flights. both plains were taken out of service for rebears and inspections. st. john the beloved in

3:00 p.m., 77. you get the idea, lots of bright blue, lots of high thin clouds and the afternoon high tops auto 78. >> developing out of north philadelphia, a man is in the hospital after he was shot just as he was opening the front door of his home. the action cam was on the scene of the early-morning shooting. the 30-year-old man was shot in the back. he was taken to temple university hospital where's in critical condition. police say the bullet that struck the victim went through the body and found on the living room floor. investigator have not said about it they have motive or suspect. >> this is video afternoon escape route that two quicked killers used to cut through the state prison. they used power tools to cut through a steam pike. 48 richard matt and david sweat pulled off an elaborate civiles

stabbed her outside the home. he would be on the lam for three days when he hung himself inside the unit block of holly. >> she was a wonderful girl, very loving. >> reporter: three years ago her husband died in a motorcycle crash. friends say after his death his friend michael eitel was there for bound. it turned romantic and deadly according to police. michael eitel has a criminal record including a kidnapping arrest. her co-work errs say he began stalking her after the break up and she got a restraining orderly, but it didn't protect her. >> i was scared for her all the time that she was having this problem and i think she hit a lot. >> reporter: there was a reward for information leading to his whereabouts, but since he committed suicide it appears no one will be claiming it. outside the camden county prosecutor's office, chad

37 degrees reading, 54 dover 57. dewpoints, again the way you measure the amount of moisture in the air today we're doing all right 50s tomorrow not so bad. 50s, the numbers start climbing noticeably more humid by midweek. thursday flirting with the 70s, cold front comes in and drops it down for friday. the next 48 hours look all right in terms of humidity. tuesday, wednesday thursday, it's increasingly more uncomfortable. satellite and radar all is quiet across the mid atlantic. it's active across the high plain states. huge storms on the front end of this, spawning severe weather west of chicago and milwaukee that will travel east and run along the northern tier states that makes its way into the delaware valley by the time we get into tomorrow evening. after 5:00 6:00 p.m. everybody is fair game with showers and storms and drenching downpours.
