in the news a philadelphia police officer is off the job and facing charges for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, and a former firefighter that responded to the twin towers on 9/11 is new york's newest lottery winner. >> but the big story on "action news" is the excitement building for the 4th of july celebrations, from the shore to the city there is no shortage of parties and fireworks tomorrow. preparations are well underway. "action news" reporter katherine scott with the latest from the ben franklin parkway. >> the setup is well underway here, the setup is here for the concert and people are ready to celebrate. today the rivera family is out for a skate near the art museum and ben franklin parkway will be packed but like many they just find their spot and gaze upward.
>> people for some reason thought there was nothing going on no pushing and no shoving everybody is getting along. >> crews are out building the stage for the 4 and of july jam and there is still work to be done for the concert. beth ann looking forward to the week of the wawa welcome america event but the grand finale is her favorite part. but gary it's not. >> gary will hide in the closet but i will be out waufing the fireworks. >> the fireworks need to be loaded in thousands of shells will be used each minute and some of them are custom-made the folks from fireworks by gruchy say this will be spectacular. >> a continuous 15 minutes of colors glitter, red white, blue scenes smiley faces and the hearts the whole thing.

meteorologist, melissa magee is outside the studio with more. >> there could be changes as we head into the holiday weekend, today spectacular in comparison to the clouds and showers overhead yesterday, 80 in philadelphia 77 in trenton and 70 in the poconos, along the coast in sea isle city and the boardwalk coming in aat 74 the 24 temperature change it's 7 degrees warmer than it was in philadelphia yesterday and 8 degrees warmer than it was 24 hours ago some changes are coming, here is stormtracker 6 live double scan 3-d it's dry right now across the mid-atlantic region but off to our south and west can you see what we are tracking this presses from a southeast to northeast direction into saturday we'll rank the days over the holiday weekend, today fantastic, a mixture of sunshine

city's tioga-nicetown section. someone in the group had an assault rifle and gun fire was exchanged. everyone took off and so did the suspect and he died a few blocks away two women and one men were shot and one man died. others are in critical condition, they have not said why someone in the group that happened to be robbed had an assault rifle with him. >> and they found a laptop that belonged to a murder victim dgs believe that the murder of regina bruhner holmes was a robbery, no charges have been filed. a philadelphia police officer is under arrest, accused of assaulting his girlfriend, michael alice is charged with
