6:00 a.m., friday, april 1, we're working on several stories this morning. >> i want to thank god so much. only "action news," we are hearing from the mother of a kidnapped baby who was found safe. the woman accused of snatching the new born from the king of prussia mall is in police which you have the. we're live how this happened. the philadelphia neighborhood attempting to shut down a sex club before it ever opens. the countdown begins, the wildcats are ready to tip off in the final four in houston. we're live on campus. karen rogers is off this morning let's go over to david murphy he's got your accuweather it's been a rough go matt pellman on some of the major highways. >> reporter: it has. >> reporter: it has, we'll get you to the weather and matt will

tell you about the roads. there are light showers in south jersey, you can see them welling up over the delaware bay. coming ashore in cumberland and cape may county and atlantic city. it keeps pushing off to the north. all the thunderstorms are well off the coast. a couple of sprinkles here and there in southeastern pennsylvania. there's a cluster of showers coming from the west, though, nontoday we'll be look -- on and off today, we'll be looking at showers. 67 degrees on the thermometer. allentown, 6. closer to the coast you're cooler because of the draw off the cool ocean water. this afternoon it will be mild. 1:00 p.m., 72. 2:00 p.m., 75. the high today will be 77. very late in the afternoon, probably not until 5:00 p.m. 76 by 6:00 p.m. spotty showers on and off through the day and thunderstorm late today and early pg this evening, before we dry out later tonight. cooler air coming in for the

weekend. a wind watch for the second half of the weekend. a little bit of rain on saturday. i'll have the details coming up, matt. >> reporter: not a good way to start the morning in montgomery county, a nasty accident at welsh road and 40-foot road. you can see the vehicles involved, a sheet draped over that vehicle which is never a good sign we're at the ralph's corner shopping center, police on the scene. they are investigating what happened early this morning again at the intersection of welsh road and 40-foot road. the road is blocked off. welsh completely and entirely. 40-foot partially blocked in the one direction. allentown road, main street. cow path alternates around this. we'll watch this this morning. meanwhile, on the northeast extension both ways by the landsdale interchanges overnight construction we're waiting on that to wrap. it's been a mess on i-95. we've started with the problem

southbound the broken down truck by girard. up ahead in the right lane. there was an accident on the northbound side you can see it here, that appears to involve a truck it's northbound between girard and allegheny. you have delays on i-95 in both directions, margining mow avenue or staying on -- aramingo avenue staying on the boulevard is a better bet. vine street there's an accident blocking local vine stay south to get around this. mess on i-95, broken down vehicle on lincoln drive, it's a busy start to your friday morning. a baby boy kidnapped from the king of prussia mall is back with his mother. she is grateful after suffering through a terrifying ordeal. annie mccormick is live with the full story. >> reporter: matt, police say it doesn't appear that the mother or alleged abductor knew each other. it was a chance encounter inside

the food court at the king of prussia mall. after chatting for 30 minutes, the mother was distracted that's when the abductor took the baby. this morning the family and police are rejoicing that this had a happy ending. a mother is embracing her child her family reunited him at the upper merion police station when they learned that ashir simmons was located here at a barber shop in tredyffrin township. at 5:30 the abductor distracted the mother and took off with the baby. an amber alert went out and that flooded social media. the baby was found safe. the family was left wondering why someone would do this. police are praising teamwork for finding the baby safe. the lady might have a problem, you know what i am she might have a -- what i mean, she

might have a members of the jury jury -- mental problem, she may have lost a child. i was getting texts all night from other chiefs offering help. we called in our entire staff all of whom are still here. they didn't want to leave until the child was found safe. >> reporter: and police have not released the name of the suspect. she is in custody and charges are pending. for now, reporting live in upper merion township police. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." thank you for that. he and the mother of that child kidnapped at the king of prussia mall spoke out for the first time overnight excuse 'veily to "good morning america." -- exclusively to "good morning america." thank you so much for allowing me to get my baby back safe. interview on the mall abduction coming up at 7:00 a.m. after "action news." neighborhood battle is brewing over a private sex club in northeast philadelphia. saints and sinners have an location on emory street in port richmond. they plan to open up on frankford avenue. the club's motto is i would rather run with the sinners than walk with the saints. we have a lot of children we have two elementary schools and child's playground across the street. it's very upsetting to our whole neighborhood. saints and sinners is set to open april 16. the city said the owners don't have the property permits to open the club. the club's owners have not returned the phone calls or e-mails. >> a lot of people be -- are looking for a phone upgrade, but

double scan a little bit of rain, light showers over south jersey, there's the closer view you can see cape may county has some of this, some it is highlighted in darker green that's rain. it's pushing up the coast toward surf city and most of it from hammonton south up in glass borough you're not getting a lot of of this. as we go out wider, a blip up in pennsylvania, generally speaking it's south jersey with the light rain for now. as we look outside, we have cloudy skies and everybody will be on the look out for spotty scattered showers as we move through the morning and maybe a thunderstorm late this afternoon. 67 degrees on the thermometer, though, as you step outside if you're in an area that doesn't have rain you're looking good. it's cloudy, but it feels great. 67 in wilmington, 68 in allentown. as you get closer to the shore it's cooler because of the draw

curl. let's talk about the traffic. >> reporter: we have disabled trucks out here giving us a delays, i wish this was a joke on this april fools day. this is the broken down truck at girard avenue and we're jammed southbound from the betsy ross bridge to girard and northbound between girard and allegheny. you want to think alternates, because these jams are not pleasant. 9-mile an hour. if you want to stay on aramingo avenue that's looking good, you will deal with all the traffic through the city, the traffic lights et cetera. or stay on the boulevard, you can do that. although we have a couple of issues on the boulevard. there's a broken down vehicle northbound approaching ryan avenue inner drive. traffic lights reported in the area around oxford circle. if you're traveling on the boulevard that's not an issue that's if you're crossing over the traffic light troubles could

give you problems. local vine street by hanheman hospital there's a crash at 15th street. love drive northbound side gypsy lane 97th precinct getting another word off broken down vehicle. a crash in lansdale blocking walsh road and 40-foot road. police continue to investigate by the ralph's corner shopping center. the intersection to avoid here. allentown road, cow path road or valley forge road all possible alternates. new on "action news," a washington state teenager useds football skills to take down a suspected shoplifter. they spotted him stealing $800 of merchandise. he led them on a chase when he was cornered in old navy.

the good works of a police officer in huntington beach california is going viral as he helps a little girl learn hospital scotch. officers respond -- hop scotch. officers responded to a suspicious vehicle, but they found a mother and child living in the car. while one called a shelter, the other taught the little girl hop scotch. it ended with a high five. >> reporter: i feel like we're hop scotching around the traffic

new on "action news," two teenage girls trapped up a heavily treed cliff over a rushing river in washington state for two hours have been rescued. they were playing on a sand bar when strong currents carried them 75 feet downstream. they got stuck when they climbing out of the water. the girls were shaken up, but expected to be okay. hillary clinton was confronted by a climate activist in new york. she asked clinton if she would reject donations from the fossil fuel industry. she argued back she took contributions from people who work in the industry not from corporations. this is not the first person who has confronted clinton over fossil fuel donations.

that could produce a brief, gusty winds gust ahead of it. matt pellman we're cooling down for the weekend and there's a wind watch. >> reporter: today is the national walk to work day. traffic wise that might be a good idea. what a mess we have on the roads. on i-95 this morning problems both ways, this is the southbound brown down truck that's been out there for well over an hour by girard avenue taking out the right lane. northbound there was another issue we're told that's an accident northbound between girard and allegheny. northbound is jammed from the vine up to approaching allegheny. the southbound delay goes the whole way from this point approaching cottman straight through into girard. 46 minute travel time is already three times what it should be. you want to think about using frankford avenue, or aramingo avenue or the boulevard. over there there are issues, a broken down vehicle northbound approaching ryan avenue and traffic light troubles around

"action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live for us now outside upper merion police with more on that reunion and everything that led up to it, good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam, at this hour still waiting to find out more information about the suspect. police did not release her name. she is in custody and facing charges. we know that one of the charges will be for kidnapping. a happy ending to a terrifying ordeal. the 7 week old boy ashir simmons is safe surrounded by his family reunited a few hours after he was kidnapped. his grandfather was grateful. it's a hard, bad night.

>> reporter: this surveillance video sparked a manhunt after the baby was taken from his mom around 5:30 p.m. the alleged abductor befriended the mom and waited until she was distracted. the video led us to a name. >> reporter: 9:30 an am berp alert was be -- amber alert was i should. the tips poured in. the alleged abductor showed off the child to her family. hours later the tip came in and the baby was found at the deny -- thornton barber shop in tredyffrin. >> the baby might have a problem. something wrong. she might have lost a child. >> reporter: are you going to forgive her? i ain't going to say i'm

going to forgive her. there is a 50, 50, 50 chance. >> reporter: the family is thanking law enforcement and the help on social media that helped police to find him. police say the mother did not know the alleged abductor. it was a chance encounter at the food court in the king of prussia mall. reporting live in upper merion township. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." thanks, annie. brand new information on this story one of the victims at a shooting at a bar in wilmington has died. this is how it looked outside the shades of blue restaurant on governor prince boulevard two men were shot. one was flown to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. it is unclear who fired the shots or why. radnor township police are urging customers to take a look at their bank statements. thunderstorms discovered a skimming device at the drive

through atm on city avenue. police set up surveillance and arrested the men who came back to retrieve the device. the men stole $150,000 up and down the mid atlantic. the road to the ncaa title ends in houston villanova is there on the hunt for their first national championship in 31 years. they know the title will not be easy. they have to beat a tough oklahoma team first. katherine scott is live on the villanova campus where students will be leaving to houston. >> reporter: students will be gathering here at gary hall this morning they will be boarding on to buses and heading to the airport and hopping a plain to houston. they are so excite for the huge game against oklahoma. the team is there, they need practicing and getting acclimated. they are trying to focus. there are a lot of distractions,

they can be fun, but they need to focus on the game and the game plan. they are trying to keep their heads down and keep their eye on what they need to to do to win e national championship and that's take it one game at a time. it's in our grasp, but we have two tough games we have to get by to even have the opportunity to get to a national championship. >> reporter: and right now you're looking at the lucky ticket winners of the student lottery. villanova received 700 student tickets for the final four they were gone in under three hours. students are heading to the game, but here on campus they will be watching, too, they are hosting a huge watch party so people can come and watch. even if they are not at the watch party they will find are a screen to cheer on the cats to victory. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." go cats.

bluster again just like yesterday, but mild. 68 in philadelphia. 68 in allentown. 66 in reading. close to the numbers in trenton and wilmington down the shore a little bit cooler with the draw coming in off the cool ocean water. future tracker 6 takes today's showers and pushes them up to 9:00. it's spotty and light for the most part. noon, more of the same. most of the us dry, a lot of clouds around. in the afternoon there could peeks of sunshine. but we'll see a shower popping up. by 5:00 we'll see gusty thunderstorms along the face of a frontal boundary heading in our direction. win warm by 5:00, 77 degrees, we'll be on the look out for a shower or thunderstorm. that continues into the evening hours at least the early evening in south jersey. by 9:00 p.m. we expect this to be off the coast. it will be warm, as i mentioned. here's the numbers, 71. in the 70s by lunchtime. 75 by 3:00 p.m. there's the high late in the

day, 77 degrees ahead of the cold front that comes through and starts to ease the temperatures back tonight. again, a spotty shower here and there, maybe a late-day thunderstorm a couple of spots. high temperatures looking good. all late afternoon highs for the most part, 74 in allentown. 76 in wilmington. 75 in trenton. 72 in millville. next to the cool ocean in the low 60s down the shore. if you're heading out to dinner and a movie. south jersey will be looking at a shower in through here. tonight we'll get into the low 60s. saturday, 62. it will be breezy, rain around in the morning as this wave of low pressure arrives past a stalled front. sunday, another shot of cooler air comes in, we wind up chillier with a high of 47 degrees. windchills will make it feel like the 20s and 30s. we'll have gusty winds.

because of the broken down truck. police and penndot are there. two left lanes are getting by. on the northbound side just ahead as chopper pans to the right we'll see the tractor-trailer accident that's blocking the right lane on the northbound side. southbound you have the broken down truck. northbound you have the tractor-trailer accident. as chopper keeps moving, there we go, we'll be able to see it at the top of the screen. you can see the delays in both directions. there's the northbound accident involving the atlas truck. northbound the right lane blocked, southbound the right lane blocked. i-95 by cottman this is where the southbound jammed starts it's a solid jam to girard. 46 travel time that's three times when what it should be. frankford, aramingo avenue, or the boulevard alternates.

the crash on 202 northbound in the paoli area traffic is swerving around. we've got a couple of things going on. we have a vehicle that ran into a wall. they say something else ahead in the left lane. you have to swerve north at 29. it's causing delays through chester county 202 northbound. lansdale, bad crash, happened during the 4:00 a.m. hour. welsh road and 40-foot are blocked. allentown, cow path or villa. gas main break 31 olden avenue. use 206 instead. investigators are not sure why a man shot and killed a virginia state trooper at a bus station in richmond. two civilian women were hurt in the shootout. the gunman was also killed. the trooper was at the bus station for training and not wearing a bullet proof vest. maintenance worker found

explosive material on school bus. cia said it did not pose a problem to passengers. the inert material was inside the bus. they used it for a police dog training during spring break and accidently left it high.
