good morning everyone, it is 4:30, monday, april 4. investigators this morning are trying to figure out what led to the deadly amtrak crash in delaware county. we're live on how much it is affect are going your morning commute. new jersey lawmakers are discussing the state's infrastructure and whether it is allowing harmful substances in the drinking water. villanova fans, tonight cannot come fast enough, the count down to the game is on. david murphy and karen
rogers has weather and traffic. >> reporter: we have rain sneaking through the northern suburbs, northern bucks county and pottstown, you might get clipped with light shower activity. there's the potential for early sunshine in southern delaware, and perhaps down the shore, but these clouds are filling in quickly and there's showers on the way. at any time there's a possibility of at least something. cool, 42 degrees in philadelphia. 39 in allentown. 39 in trenton. 40 in wilmington, 40 in millville. most of the area has a shot of getting into the 0s before we start to turn it around. on the bus stop this morning we expect it to be chilly, mostly cloudy, mainly dry, some of will have showers come through. as we roll through the day, 47
by 9:00 a.m. a showers at any time. a better chance later on. overnight tonight, we drop temperature-wise most of us getting below freezing and a freeze warning has been posted by the national weather service, 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. the following morning. karen rogers we cool down in the seven-day forecast and bounce up again, oddly enough we'll have the details coming up. >> reporter: let's focus on mass transit. this affects amtrak service, it's been restored between philadelphia and wilmington. expect delays at this point, amtrak and septa will be sharing tracks one an four, two and three will not be running at this point. expect delays between philadelphia and wilmington, at least service has been restored with amtrak. that's the big news that starts this morning. service restored on the septa
wilmington newark line. you will see things and how they develop. no outbound service between highland station. service has been restored wilmington newark line they are sharing tracks with amtrak. 70 eastbound shut down at main street. the alternate church road. this is a problem with a downed pole. they closed the jug handle there. church road will get you around it. boulevard, southbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill moving just fine at this point. the big problem is with mass transit. we'll keep you up to date. investigators are looking into what led to a collision of an amtrak train and backhoe two people were killed and dozens
more were injured. >> reporter: two people that died were amtrak employees, so far their names have not been released. a.m. track has not said why they were near the track yesterday morning. the impact happened in chester, but the frain -- traveled a mile before it came to a rest in trainer. more than 300 passengers were on board georgia-bound amtrak train 89 when it slammed into a backhoe in chester causing the train's lead engine to derail. we hit something. rapid decell racing, the car filled up with smoke and we came to a stop. on the train ceilings caved in, passengers were knocked to the aisles. dozens of passengers were rushed to the nearby hospital while the
rest hauled their belongings to a nearby church to await a shuttle back to 30th street station. a backhoe operator and the supervisor were killed. we have recovered data recorder from the locomotive. >> reporter: ntsb will be looking at mechanical elements and human performance. autopsy on the two victims will be conducted today. live in trainer, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." a barricade situation in the lehigh valley ended peacefully overnight. state police showed up to a house in washington township around 6:00 p.m. neighbors called 911 to report that a man inside was armed. it lasted for more than 6 hours, but it ended and nobody was hurt. happening today new jersey lawmakers will hold a hearing

karen. >> reporter: good morning, everybody, we'll continue to follow amtrak and septa and watch delays as they form. the amtrak service has been restored, but we expect delays between philadelphia and wilmington. amtrak and septa will be sharing tracks one and four. two and they will not be running. that's why we expect delays. likewise, service was restored between newark wilmington line. no outbound service darby station to highland station, however, trains are running to newark for people going beyond wilmington. we are expecting delays with amtrak and septa. we'll keep on top of that. allentown road an accident salford township. watch for delays. burlington bristol bridge expected to go up in a few minutes. delays there. we have a problem at main street use church road because they have the jug handle blocked.
so far dry on i-95 southbound we are expecting showers moving through. dry at cottman with light volume. check this out, a woman got out of her car just in time enter -- before a intrek plunged 300 -- vehicle plunged 300 feet down a cliff in canada. the woman ended up tumbling 150 feet down the cliff. emergency crews recovered her 20 minutes later. it took a towing company two hours to get her vehicle. this happened on signal hill it's a popular historic site. tesla said it received more than 275,000 orders for the model three. the car starts at $35,000 much less than any previous model. it is not scheduled to go on sale until late next year.

a florida teen took a police car on a destructive joyride yesterday. it started when the 16-year-old mother called police in miami gardens thinking her son was involved in a robbery. when they arrived at the home the teen jumped into the cruiser and took off. the teen crashed into a fast food restaurant. i was on the phone with me mom and i heard the boom. i'm still in shock. one woman was taken to the hospital with injuries to her arm and leg. the teen faces several charges including grand theft. police in san francisco were forced to go on a unique
police chase. the state highway patrol pursued a chihuahua that was running around in traffic on the san francisco oakland bay bridge. oh, was it fast. when asked on twitter if the dog was given a twitter for not using its turn signal, they joked they gave it a verbal warning. an under water art exhibition has debuted in the florida keys. they installed works 90 feet under the atlantic ocean. they are encased in plexiglass and amounted in stainless steel frames and sealed with silicon. a couple in colorado delivered on their dream house made entirely of those large shipping containers you see on
