we're live in villanova with more on the final dance. we have a weekend chill that blew into the region and accuweather is tracking rain. let's go outside to david murphy and karen rogers has been busy with traffic. >> reporter: it's chilly this morning as matt mentioned. storm tracker 6 live double scan we are above freezing so precipitation to the north is rain. you ever to go to the poconos to get snow. reading and allentown is damp. everybody to the south, midway through bucks county are dry at this point. there's rain out to the west and we'll see intermittent showers in the morning and batch of steadier rain this afternoon. the temperatures this morning are on the cool side. we're looking at 42 degrees in philadelphia, currently. 40 in trenton. down to 38 in allentown. wilmington has dipped into the upper 30s and 48 degrees in millville. as we roll through the day its
going to bounce back temperature-wise. 59 degrees by 11:00. 64 by 1:00. that's the high, 66 degrees by 3:00 p.m. notice how we are mostly cloudy and spotty showers in the morning and steadier rain in the afternoon. overnight tonight, the next issue is a drop of temperatures. 0 there's a freeze warning that kicks in at 1:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. tuesday morning him if you have potted plants bring them indoors. karen rogers we'll have details on where temperatures go for the rest of the workweek and shots of precipitation coming up from accuweather. >> reporter: we have problems on the roads and mass transit. starting right now looking live at the boulevard at ridge, southbound traffic building as you head toward the schuylkill expressway. the problem is on the boulevard at 9th street. we have all lanes blocked an overturned vehicle, no traffic getting by on the outer drive.
stick to the inner drive. outer lane blocked with the accident. amtrak conducting an accident investigation. service is resuming on amtrak between philadelphia and wilmington. but expect delays with this. what happened they are sharing tracks one and four with septa, two and three not operating because of the accident investigation. this is affecting the wilmington/newark line with septa. service is restored with the morning commute. but expect delays, no outbound service from darby station to highland. they are running express to marcus hook and trains are running to newark, delaware. expect delays 30 minutes with the septa newark wilmington line. east norton looks like a water main break is causing a problem spring view road at valley view road. you have water running down the
road. nearly 350 passengers and crew were on board on the amtrak train when it hit a piece of heavy equipment on the tracks. a devastating scene leaving two workers dead and a dozen more injured. chopper 6 hd is over the scene. the train has been moved, but crews are out on the tracks. two of the four tracks are closed as the investigation goes on. we head over to katherine scott live in trainer in delaware county where the crash happened. she has the very latest. >> reporter: that's right, the investigation continues today we hope to learn more about what happened. so far amtrak has not identified the two employees who died. they have not said why they were working at the active track. it was shaking, kids were crying. >> reporter: amtrak train 89 was traveling through chester sunday morning when it slammed into a backhoe on the track causing the train lead engine to derail. the backhoe operator and the supervisor were killed.
more than 3 hurn passengers were on -- 300 passengers were on board. be advised train 89 hit a backhoe. a number of injuries reported. amtrak employees kept saying be calm. >> reporter: on board, the force of the crash caused the ceilings to cave in. passengers were thrown to the aisles. dozens were rushed to a nearby hospital. ntsb was called to the scene trying to determine how this happened. we have recovered the event data recorder and the forward facing video and the in ward facing video from the locomotive. >> reporter: it was sent to the ntsb laboratory in washington, d.c. for further examination. you might see trains passing the site this morning. this remains under investigation. we hope to learn more in the coming days, we're told the autopsy for the two employees will be conducted today. we're live in trainer, katherine
scott channel 6 "action news." another incident involving an amtrak train is under investigation this morning. a person was hit by a train in bensalem, bucks county near the cornwells heights station, the victim lost a leg. it's unlast year why the victim was so -- it's unclear why the victim was so close to the track. philadelphia police hope surveillance photos will lead to a thief. christy's salon said the other than used two children always look outs and stole wallets and other items from employees. four attackers approached a man at the shell station on christiana road on sunday morning chased the man around the parking lot, the victim got back in his car and could drive away, but struck an attacker with his vehicle on the way out, the victim was not hurt. virgin america as has a

>> reporter: you can hear people cheering behind me on the college campus at this hour of the morning. everybody is excited. we're hours away from the big game. they are expecting to have crowds tonight and excitement on campus and law enforcement said they are prepared. after the biggest beat down ever in a national semifinal game with the a score of 95-51 after the wildcats beat oklahoma they are thirsty for it all. this is big and getting to monday night is keeping our focus. >> reporter: fans including current students and alumni have flooded texas and they flooded lancaster avenue post victory. state police were prepared with extra officers they will repeat that tonight.

there. the model wants to put snowflakes up in allentown, but it's rain this morning. the best chance of precipitation is in the northern and western areas, allentown and reading, can't rule out something popping into philadelphia briefly. looks like the majority of the rain will be in the afternoon, 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. as it starts to come in ahead of a passing cold front. it's possible during the evening commute there's spotty showers around and periods of rain. 11:00 p.m. that's off the coast and we start to break the clouds up north and west, that unfortunately marks the arriving of much colder air. ahead of that in the lehigh valley. 55 degrees is the high. in the far northern suburbs you'll be in the 50s today. closer to the shore, 66 degrees in atlantic city. farther down the coast maybe milder. dover delaware, has a shot at 70. lots of clouds and rain late at the shore. other areas along the i-95 will get into the 60s. 66 in philadelphia.

cloud cover on satellite shows you it gets thicker the farther north and west we go. there are additional sprinkles and showers that will work through. 42 degrees in the city right now. 38 degrees in allentown. 40 in trenton. 41 in wilmington. the winds not all that strong just yet, but it's cool enough for coats obviously. as we go into the afternoon we get milder than yesterday. 1:00 p.m., 64. 3:00 p.m., that's the high, 66 degrees. again, a mix of clouds and sun early and more clouds and some better chances of rain coming in later in the afternoon and evening. i do think by 4:00 p.m. most of the i-95 corridor will be under the rain drops or getting close to them. the evening rush could be wet. overnight tonight, temperatures drop. we get below freezing in most areas and in all the counties highlighted in blue there's a freeze warning that kicks at 1:00 a.m. and doesn't end until 10:00 a.m. on tuesday.

today. live in trainer, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." new this morning, a barricade situation in the lehigh valley has ended peacefully. state police showed up at a house on rex town road in washington township. neighboring say the man inside was armed. it's unclear what triggered the standoff that lasted more than 6 hours. it is over and no injuries were reported. happening today, new jersey lawmakers will take a closer look at the state's drinking water pipes. the hearing comes after newark schools shut off sinks and fountains. the state requires that the drinking water be tested in all public schools. atlantic city mayor will shut down the city for lack of funds. democratic lawmakers called on the speaker to enact the bill to

as we look outside we have cloudy skies over most of the region. as you look south and east, you see breaks in the clouds. looks like we'll see early sunshine in philadelphia. the farther north and west you go obviously, the thicker the clouds will be. winds out of the east, it's cool not all that windy to start out. 38 degrees in allentown. 40 in wilmington, farther south you go we're up to 52 degrees in cape may, new jersey. future tracker 6 handling the precipitation, the model wants it cool up to the north, suggesting wet snowflakes doesn't look like we're getting that. as we go to 9:00 a.m. there's wet snow in the poconos. down here there's sprinkle as showers during the morning hours. as we get into the afternoon, the cold front gets closer and we winds up buildings a little bit more of a -- building a little bit more of a widespread pattern in the northern and western suburbs. during the afternoon we're
watching that drop into the i-95 corridor. this model has the holding off until 4:00. it could happen sooner than that. it will push into the evening commute and slide off the coast by 11:00 p.m. tonight. we'll see clearing north and west. temperatures are not going to be bad after a chilly sunday. 53 degrees by 10:00 a.m., 66 degrees by 3:00 p.m. that's ahead of the cold front you tend to get warmer ahead of cold front. sprinkles and showers through the day steadier rain in the day and evening. high temperatures, 66 in philadelphia. wilmington, notice how the farther north we are you won't have time to get the numbers up, you'll being in the mid 50s in allentown and reading. 07 in dover is not out of the question. out in cincinnati, the phillies open up the 2016 season they will get the game in, clouds shower, it will be cool out in the queen city.
