is 4:30 monday, april 18. here's what we're following this morning, a philadelphia police officer shot in the line of duty is in the hospital this morning. we'll have a live report on the investigation. breaking this morning, heavy flames tear through a delaware county home. presidential candidates are making a last-minute push in new york ahead of the crucial primary there. david murphy how warm will it get today. >> reporter: even better than the weekend and the weekend was pretty darn nice. there will be a front that will
get closer to us today, but the clouds are associated to the north an east. another comfortable afternoon. 50 degrees. in millville, 37. we are dipping in the upper 40s, trenton, allentown, mid 40s in reading. a nice morning with winds on the light side. if you're heading to the bus stop, clear skies, we have cool, but nice conditions, 47 degrees by 6:00. 8:00 a.m., already up to the mid 50s. as we roll on from there they zoom. 67 degrees by 11:00 a.m., 74 by 1:00. 3:00 p.m., 79 degrees, we expect an afternoon high of 80 today at 4:00 p.m. it's going to be warm later and still very bright. as we look at the pollen count you might expect this. it's going to remain high. we don't have any rain in the forecast until late tonight and thursday, pollen will be an
issue between now and then. we'll cool down a little bit behind the passing of that frontal boundary, matt pellman, but it will be nice, i'll have the workweek forecast coming up next. >> reporter: i like the sound of the zooming temperatures, we have zooming traffic and overnight construction, but a lot of crews are in the process of wrapping up in the morning like the ones on southbound nye between the airport and 420. they are cleared out. all southbound lanes are reopened heading toward the blue route. the vine street expressway, 676 is read and reopened. it is scheduled to close tonight start tonight at 11:00 p.m. for now the vine is looking good. paving and reassure facing work continues on the kelly drive that's been going on for a week or so. until 6:30 a.m. stay on the mlk. lower makefield, bucks county had week long construction
blocking mill road, stoney hill will get you around it. will police officer was shot overnight and two suspects are in custody. annie mccormick has more. >> reporter: officer mccullough is still here at penn presbyterian hospital. we have a number of 18 district cruiser where he works out of. two suspects are in custody. there might be a third suspect, but that's not clear at this time. this was the scene where gunfire erupted between a robbery suspect and philadelphia police. it started when a woman flagged down two officers on patrol.
two men she said were breaking into her car. as they approached two males exited the vehicle. they started to run. officer mccullough tackled one of the males. almost instantly he was shot in the left leg. the man started running northbound on salford street. >> reporter: even after 24-year-old police officer james mccullough was shot he fired off shots himself and applied first aid to his leg. it is important to point out he applied aornecut himself. >> reporter: men of the 18th district filed inside some
support of officer mccullough. he is strong he had a strong handle shake and it's a dangerous city and a lot of guns out there. >> reporter: the commissioner said mccullough is 24 years old and 2 years on the force and he has a 2-year-old girl and fiance. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." "action news" has obtained the dramatic police radio calls made by officer mccullough's partner as shots are being fired. w, police shut down service and set up a grid search of the area they took the suspects into custody. breaking this morning, a two-alarm fire in upper darby
overnight, crews got to the scene to find smoke and flames pouring out of the back of the house on ardmore avenue. the former owner said the house was sold and the new owners were renovating. the action cam is on the scene live in upper darby, you can see the fire trucks there. you can see the burned out window showing there's quite a bit of damage that's been done to the home. crews are putting out hot spots, but no reports of injuries. another story brand new, police are looking for the driver who sideswiped another car that caused a crash and drove off. the action cam was at 63rd and chestnut in west philadelphia where a vehicle slammed into a utility pole after midnight. another driver who caused the car to crash into the pole took off. everyone is expected to be okay. a child is on the mend
after a dirt bike crashed in west philadelphia. the child who was inside the car was taken to children's hospital for minor injuries. there's no word if the dirt bike rider was going to face charges. the ryder was trying to avoid a police helicopter at the time of the crash. the accident happened during a citywide crackdown to get atvs and dirt bikes over the road. during yesterday's crackdown police seized 60 vehicles and made three arrests. it's part of a coordinated effort by police across the city to make streets safer. the actions of atvs, it's definitely a quality of life issue, as the police department we feel that when we stop and confiscate them.
since police initiated the crackdown, more than 200 vehicles have been seized. an investigation is underway that led to a shoot out in the kensington section and left three people dead. it happened on east west moreland street. a 46-year-old man called 911 to tell them he had shot someone. when officers arrived he barricaded himself inside the house. he indicated he was not going to open the door and let the police inside. at that time police declared a barricaded situation. once inside police found a brother, another man and woman shot in the held. a 4th victim was shot in the arm and able to escape. pennsylvania has become the 24th state to legalize medical marijuana. governor wolf signed senate bill
3 surrounded by law makers and patients and patient care advocates. patients are able to use it with the doctor's permission. the doctor atlantic city to make that decision in conjunction with hero -- his or her patients. in new jersey, they are only allow buds or flowers. it could be 18 months before it is available. president candidates are trying to drum of votes before tomorrow's primary. the contest could be a turning point in the race for the white house. hillary clinton attended several rallies in new york city yesterday and danced at a latino block party. thousands attended a rally in
brooklyn where he was born. both will barnstorm pennsylvania which holds it's primary a week from tomorrow. sanders will hold a rally in state college tomorrow night and clinton plans to be in philadelphia on wednesday. donald trump held a rally on staten island and railed against a rigged primary process. he said he didn't put much effort in wyoming because of that. ted cruz won all 14 delegates on a saturday. gop party chairman said all the candidates have known about the rules for a year. "good morning america" is holding a live town hall with senator cruz you can take part. cruz will be new york studioses but taking questions from various locations including in philadelphia.
