story on "action news" this noon is the latest developments in a plane crash that could be the result of a terror attack. authorities are searching for pieces of the egypt air flight after it disappeared from radar. marcy gonzales reports with the latest. >> reporter: the u.s. navy is helping with the search and the cause is unclear and officials say there was no distress call. search teams scouring part of the mediterranean sea for the wreckage of egift flight a 04. they are looking into what caused the flight to suddenly disappear from radar. the flight left paris at 11:09 local time bound for cairo, with only 20 minutes left in the flight, the pilot spoke to air traffic control and said all was fine, five minutes later.
the jet vanished from radar. >> airplanes do not just disappear. that is why we are looking at possibly something catastrophic like a bomb. >> they are considering terrorism as a possibility. >> if you align the situation properly. the probability of having a different action or a terror attack is higher than having a technical -- >> family of passengers and crew members are gathering at airports in paris and cairo, now waiting for answers. >> if a bomb is said to be the cause investigators will not say how it could have gotten on board. no terror group has claimed responsibility. rick back to you. >> meanwhile, u.s. airport officials are monitoring the situation overseas but have not
changed any security procedures so far. there is long lines here at philadelphia international airport mainly due to tsa staffing issues and passengers are prepared to wait longer. >> i think they get slower and i think they are more cautious and they need to be. and i wouldn't feel as secure if they weren't. >> "action news" will continue to monitor developments in the crash investigation throughout the day and find complete coverage online at 6abc.com. in other news, the chester county d.a. has announced sexual abuse charges against a man in kalin township, and there could be more charges on the way as well. christopher joe -- is accused of aggravated and indecent assault. they are concerned there is more victims and asking anybody that knows about him to come forward.
he is currently in the chester county prison. within the last 90 minutes, a reading police officer surrendered to authorities, he is facing criminal charges for his actions caught on cell phone video for a traffic stop last month. gray hall is live in reading now with more on the officer's arrest. >> reporter: well rick, that officer left the courtroom not too long ago. lets take you to the video as the 27-year-old officer left the courtroom, he is 27-year-old jesus santiago dejesus. he did not have commons when he left the courtroom. but his troubles began at a traffic stop on april 25th. he pulled over martina garcia and her boyfriend because she did not have on a turn signal and the officer said she did not have a license and she alerted the officer she was recording the incident and you see the
officer grabbing the cell phone and throwing it to the ground and then punch the woman. another officer eventually arrives and he is arrested and charged with assault and then the berks county d.a. blasted the officer and charged him with official oppression and tampering with evidence and criminal mischief and back out live, the officer's attorney says that his client will be vindicated and there are several pieces of video that the public has not yet scene and as for clinton garcia, all the charges against her have been dropped. and we'll hear from the attorney later on on 6 abc. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. time now for a check of the accuweather forecast for your thursday afternoon. looking live outside sky 6 hd showing you center city and it's a nice and dry afternoon finally with warm temperatures and partly sunny skies. david murphy is enjoying the
