good morning everyone, it is 5:00 a.m., on this tuesday, may 24. we're following several breaking stories. philadelphia police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man sitting at a backup. a coroner is on the scene of a fast-moving fire that ripped through a home in allentown. comedian bill cosby is expected to appear in a montgomery county courtroom one day after losing a bid for a delay. the rain is back, ha ha. >> reporter: it's not back everywhere. we have a shower and perhaps a thundershower rolling down at times through the afternoon east of philadelphia as the area of low pressure continues to move out of here. it is hard for the rain to push farther east than it already

sitting in a bus canopy in northeast philadelphia and took off on foot leaving the victim for dead. annie mccormick is live at cottman and busle ton avenue where car and canopy parts are all over the place. >> reporter: matt, police are on the scene surrounding the vehicle that plowed into the canopy. you can only imagine how fast the car was going to sustain that amount of damage on it. not only was a tire ripped off the axle you can see the rest of the windshield and the damage. you can see what is left of the bus canopy. that's where the victim was sitting when it took place. it happened at 1:00 a.m. at cottman an busle ton. the lexus stained heavy damage all over the car. witnesses saw the driver stop and get out and walked over to look at the victim and then he
fled the scene on food leaving the mangle lexus behind. the vehicle came with incredible force. they believe it was going over 0 miles per hour. police also think that the driver may have been injured which could help them. we did find drops of blood in that vehicle, so it appears that the driver was the injured from stricting this metal septa canopy. so accident investigation officers are on location they will take a simple of the blood and hopefully the dna can help us identify the driver of the vocal. now, witnesses description that they have. driver is a male possibly in his 20s, 5'10" wearing a white
t-shirt in his 40s, right now he is a john doe. a fast-moving fire ripped through a house in allentown. it broke out on newton street at 2:00 a.m. it took firefighters a half-hour to get the fire under control. a coroner is currently on the scene. there's no official word if someone died in the house in allentown. bill cosby is due in montgomery county courtroom for a preliminary hearing in the sex assault case, the pennsylvania supreme court denied a stay yesterday. a judge will determine if the case should go to trial. andrea constan claimed she was drugged and molested at his cheltenham home in 2004. there's a chance contan will take the witness stand today. we'll have a live report in the next half-hour on "action news." a berks county woman is
accused of stealing $0,000 from her job. she also accused of stealing from the exeto are law group. he found out when the internal revenue service came knock on the door for back taxes. richards were as was charged with theft and formry. the parent of a toms river boy who was four when he shot and killed a 6-year-old. a judge ruled that the they will have to pay punitive damages to his parents. the riewlings -- the ruling follows a wrongful death lawsuit. he was sentenced to three years in prison last year after he pleaded guilty to child endangerment. president obama is pressing vietnam to respect human rights
on day two of his three day visit to the country. in his address, he said the country has nothing to fear for upholding free speech. vietnam is criticized for it's human rights record. president obama said some activists were blocked from the meeting. a man is behind bars after he said he opened fire on a tow truck driver. this happened yesterday in logan. police say the 30-year-old tow truck driver and 20-year-old passenger was sitting in the truck when he got into an argument with the man over money. the man pulled out a gun and started firing. the gun mass was caught a short time later. landsdale police are looking for the man in this video who stole a child's bike. the victim said she bought the bike as a christmas present for her ten-year-old son. anxiety ask spreading
