track to fame after placing third in the nationally tell rised singing contest. last night cristina grimmie was gunned down after a concert by a man whose motives remain a mystery. saturday night i'm walter perez. the big story on "action news" is senseless death of the young woman full of promise and talent. cristina grimmie grew up in marlton, new jersey and graduated from cherokee high school. last night she was signing autographs in florida when a man walk up to her and opened fire. we have reaction from her hometown but first, details about what happened from abc's lauer than lister. >> reporter: he was on a mission of murder. >> it does peer that he came here to commit this crime. >> ♪ >> reporter: she was his unsuspecting pray singing here in the last performance of her life. >> we're in orlando today, please come to the show. >> reporter: after her performance cristina grimmie was doing autographs and selfies with fans when kevin

james loibl carried two guns and a hunting knife. >> he approached her and opened fire. >> four gunshots were almost immediately. >> almost immediately her brother marcus grimmie tackled the suspect to the ground. shortly after that the suspect killed himself. >> reporter: grimmie is rush to the hospital, overnight, the tragic news her publicist announcing that grimmie did not survived. >> ♪ >> reporter: cristina grimmie was known for finishing third on the voice and performances like this on dancing with the stars. authorities are combing through loibl's phone and computers for a motive. on the door of the loibl's st. petersberg home this message deepest so or for loss of family friend and fans of the talented cristina grimmie. in other comment. >> fans tried to console themselves with an impromptu memorial at the concert venue. >> i'm shock. i didn't know what to do. >> all she wanted to to was sing and follow her dream.

>> ♪ >> reporter: those songs and those dreams, now gone, with a singer's young life. lauren lister for abc news, orlando, florida. >> "action news" reporter jeff chirico continues our coverage. he is live in medford new jersey where grimmie's hometown church held a service tonight in her honor, jeff? >> reporter: well, hi there walter. grimmie was part of the youth group and being remembered as a kind young woman who left her mark on her community. pastor hearsays he prayed with grimmie and her family before she went on tour, a tour no one could have imagined would have ended like this. >> my wife and i just prayed and cried. >> ♪ >> reporter: before she sang for the nation cristina grimmie sang for god. she and her family were long time members of the fellowship chap until medford, new jersey where grimmie's humility and voice stood out. >> when we first heard her sing it was like this is a very, very good gift. wonderful girl. what you saw was what she was.

she was a real deal. >> reporter: grimmie lived in marlton and attended church in high school before moving in california with her family and finding fame, first in the you tube sensation, and then as a contestant on nbc's the voice. >> she was on the voice, everyone was kind of watching the voice and following it, and all rooting for her. >> reporter: grimmie's former high school is shock by the rising star's violent death. >> i just thought she was a normal person. i cannot see any reason why anyone would want to go after her for any reason at all. >> reporter: in 2014, grimmie returned to eve slam township to perform for the fourth of july celebration. mayor randy brown tweeted this statement. i'm shocked and saddened by the news of cristina grimmie's death. she was one of the evesham's shining stars. condolences to the grimmie family. >> ♪ >> reporter: grimmie's former pastor says their thoughts are now with her family, for whom they will pray, at services on sunday. >> we miss her horribly. so this is so tragic and so sad, so i'm just hoping that this weekend we can help

people through the grief. >> reporter: grimmie's family has been dealing with tough times for a while. her mother had been battling cancer for years. mayor brown says evesham township will hold a vigil in grimmie's honor monday night. we are live from medford, jeff chirico for channel six "action news". a murder investigation is underway after a five-year old was shot and killed in trenton. just before 4:00 this afternoon police found the victim at prospect and reservoir streets. the 15 year-old victim had been shot repeatedly no arrests have been made. a young boy was rushed to the hospital, after he was hit by a car in north philadelphia. investigators say that two cars collided, just after 5:00 t and lehigh avenue, one of the cars then went off the roadway and then hit 11 year-old who was standing there on the sidewalk. a woman in one of the cars was also rush to the hospital, and officials from licensing and inspections was also called out, to the scene, because one

of the cars hit a building. donald trump was in pittsburgh today, talking about political correctness. he told crowd that some leaders in washington have no clue what they are doing. presumptive republican nominee also slammed them for being too politically correct. democratic candidates were not the on the campaign trail today but hillary clinton still received a endorsement from the reverend jesse jackson. civil rights leader called her the most qualified candidate. clinton declared victory tuesday night when she reached magic number of 2,383 delegates. still, bernie sanders has vowed to keep campaigning. d.c. hold is it primary on tuesday, and we will have have much more coming up on the presidential campaign ahead at 11:30. moving to the accu weather forecast, it is pretty sultry tonight. threat of severe weather has diminished. while a good night to turn off the ac and open up the windows that might not work tonight. meteorologist melissa magee is at the "action news" big board with the first check of the accu weather forecast.

overseas riot police in france traded blows with fans from russia and england on thursday. police in riot shield tried to restore peace using police dogs and tear gas. it placed days before a start of the major soccer tournament in paris. organizers appealed to them, appealing to the fans, asking them to calm down and allow everyone to enjoy the tournament in peace. one of the two violent sex offenders is back behind bars tonight in nebraska. but only after he attacked two more women on the run.

armond dixon escaped from a transport truck and left their high security prison yesterday morning. corrections officials admit that the two were able to escape because of security lapses. timothy kaufman remains on the loose in nebraska. young father of twin girls was gunned down right in front of his house in bucks county and tonight his mother is asking for your help. here's rick williams with tonight's crime fighters report. >> reporter: catherine says her 20 year-old son robert was going to begin a nursing program in bucks county community college. >> he was my pride and joy, and got a scholarship to the program to be a nurse. >> reporter: that all changed on tuesday, february 16th. kathleen says that the family had just returned home from a family dinner. at 8:00 p.m. robert was outside in front of their home on bath streets in bristol bucks county. >> five minutes later we heard gunshots. >> reporter: robert was hit in the head and then killed.

there we have southeasterly wind with 83 in trenton. eighty-two allentown, lehigh valley. eighty in lancaster. coast at cape may 72. beach haven in the upper 70's. here's satellite six with action radar. not much in the way of fuel, for these showers, and storms. we didn't have really a trigger cross the region. you can see upper level low that the showers and storms, it will skirt well to the north and east of our region. we're dry for the rest of tonight. is there a cold front off to the west, that will be swinging, south and east ward as we get through the overnight hours, and the warmth will stay around as we get in the second half of the weekend but humidity will lower as day wears on. future tracker six timing out the dew point numbers, dropping at 8:00 o'clock in the morning we are still in the upper 60's. you can feel humidity overhead. lots of moisture in the atmosphere at that point. by 11:00 a.m. we are in the 50's. still comfortable early in the morning tomorrow, and as we get in the evening hours, dew point numbers will be in the 40's. so the atmosphere will start to dry out as we get a bit of
