hello again, sara is off and here are the stories we are following at 12:30. the stage is set for the democratic national convention and we are live. no matter what party you support you can put on your gear. alicia vitarelli show us the swag selling for the convention. meteorologist, melissa magee, will show us the excessive heat coming to our area this weekend. and now the focus is on the presumptive democratic nominee, she begins it's campaign swing in florida, and is expected to announce her running mate either in tampa, or a miami appearance tomorrow. tim kaine appears to be the

front runner and secretary of agriculture tom vilsack but clinton could announce a surprise pick as well. taking the stage to speak next week is democratic heavy weights, including president obama, vice president joe biden and former clinton rival, bernie sanders and hillary clinton takes the stage thursday night and will accept the nomination after being introduced by her daughter, chelsea. lets look inside at our camera inside of the wells fargo center. organizers say that the stage includes one of the biggest led walls in the world. that is where hillary clinton will accept the nomination thursday night and a host of speakers so excitement is building. "action news" reporter john rawlins live there and today was the big reveal.

>> reporter: it was the big reveal. they are getting ready for a big party here that is for sure. the dnc did not allow cameras into the wells fargo center until today but take a look with me here, we have the great reveal this morning, it's red, white and blue and silver. the great reveal, the dnc podium and video wall with three sided rotating panels. from the greek word to rotate. >> that allows us to change the look of the stage moment to moment speaker to speaker, each side is three sides and has a different feature on it. it gives us a lot of flexibility. >> the stage is ready and the camera appear ready and overlooking it all is the tv sky boxes. they emphasize the democrats are the party of inclusion, come next week the first woman ever

success of this convention. >> hillary clinton is expected to announce her running mate in the next day or two. but today donald trump attacking ted cruz even more than hillary clinton. >> turning to the forecast now, get set to sweat a lot. the heat is cranking up today. it's oppressive and dangerous out there. melissa magee is outside on the terrace, it feels like triple digits this weekend? >> yes, rick when you figure in the heat and humidity, it will be unbearable at times. it's 88 in philadelphia and 87 in dover, and same thing in atlantic city, 91 to the north and west in reading. now, when you put the humidity on ton of that. it feels like 96 in dover and 94 in reading and 93 the current heat index number in philadelphia and same for beach

hav haven. here is stormtracker 6 live double scan a couple of storm are drifting to the south and east and that frontal boundary up near the great lakes will work its way eastward and it could clip our region, the storm center has placed areas north of the i-95 corridor, lehigh county and the poconos at the highest risk of severe weather, damaging wins and hail and tropical downpours. most locations will stay dry tonight and the bigger story is the heat and how it's building across the region. this is just the beginning and starts out on friday, our high is 95 degrees and the heat index close to 100 here in philadelphia, even hotter on saturday, in at 98 degrees and heat index of 102. some heat tips and something to keep in mind, if you are outside, seek out the a.c. inside but if you are outdoors,

getting into a three vehicle crash, he stole an audi a 5 last night. police spotted the vehicle and followed it until the driver crashed at carpenter street. it's unclear if anyone else was injured . two men are behind bars for a rash thefts on the delaware campus. they are charged in connection with seven thefts. police investigated the crimes they found more victims in the area both suspects were released on bail. and there is much more ahead on "action news" at 12:30, she told the world today she is dealing with a health battle. what actress zoe saldana says about the condition she shares with her family ♪ ♪ >> and meet princess elaina.

the nba is pulling its all-star game from north carolina in reaction to a new law seen as discriminatory to the lgbt community. the game was suppose to be played in charlotte but the league is moving the game because of north carolina house bill 2, it's mandated that they use bathrooms according to their birth gender and not how they identify themselves. they consider bringing the games back to charlotte in 2019 if the law is changed. actor zoe saldana is opening up about her health battle. she suffers from an auto immune disorder and her mother and sisters has it as well. >> reporter: on screen zoe

saldana is known for kicking butt. the actress is revealing her real life fight with an auto immune disorder. in an article, the edit, saldana shares for the first time that she suffers from thyroiditis, saying your body does not have the energy it needs and you create anti-bodies that attack your glands. >> when zoe was diagnosed she said her body was feeling different and she made changes in her life to balance it out. >> she tackles this disorder that turns the immune system against the thyroid and it's much more common in women than men. >> she has twin 1.5-year-old boys with her husband. >> i wish i could say it's easy and i know that a lots of moms and fathers will identify, the best example i can give them is

excessive heat is the number one related killer, averaging 650 deaths a year in the united states because of heat, more than floods more than tornadoes and hurricanes. take this seriously, it will be a prolonged period of heat across the region. at the shore relief and sunshine and high of 87, and 90 hotter tomorrow and 87 only sunday and sunny and warm at the coast. here is the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast hot today and a high of 95, hotter on saturday and 95 degrees and steamy on sunday at 95 and record heat on monday. we call for a high of 98 but if we hit 99 on monday it could be the worst it has been in four years across the region and that heat wave ranges on even into tuesday, wednesday and next thursday rick. >> thank you. meanwhile, the democratic national convention just days away and there is enough apparel and accessories being sold
