tam. >> the search continues for the juveniles involved in a senseless string of attacks in center city. annual off duty detective was among those hurt. annie mccormick is live at police headquarters with the on going investigation. >> reporter: good morning, tamala, two teens are in custody, but more arrests could come what is described as vicious and random attacks by what appears to be a flash mob in center city. one of the victims like you said was an off duty police detective. this is video from saturday evening when it happened. the first attack at 16th and walnut. witnesses say a group of teens starting pointed assaulting pedestrians there and off duty police detective who happened to be walking with his wife tried to intervene. officials say that crowd disburses, but a second group got started to at a -- started
to attack. a group of teens attacked a group of people on 16th street. detective had a fractured eye socket and was taken to the hospital. a witness described the chaos. >> i heard a lady screaming they were down here fighting. me and a couple of other people ran into urban out fitters and they locked the doors. >> reporter: and that witness described having to run into a store on walnut street for safety is a lot of. >> reporter: at this hour, two versus have been made more could come, they are looking at the video from the area trying to identify the teens that were in the flash mob. reporting live from outside police headquarters, back to you. >> two armed robbers held you have a university city restaurant at closing time.

naacp of philadelphia has joined the outcry over an ugly incident condemning racist message also targeting black students at the university of pennsylvania. they were sent images of lynchings and low with racist language. one of the suspects is a oklahoma student suspended yesterday. the naacp called on leaders around the county to encourage unity not division. >> as long as as the language is divisive and not inclusive, as long as as language that leads to intolerance of one or the other, prevails, we can expect for acts like that to takes place. >> reporter: the fbi is investigating to see if anyone else played a role in sending the hateful messages. the world's largest automaker is about to pay up over customer complaints of rust. to our market watch report we go

attack in center city. police say juveniles started attacking people saturday night. an off duty philadelphia police detective tried to intervene. he was beaten and his eye socket was fractured. his wife was attacked. all six people were hurt. police are looking for as many as four other suspects. we're waiting an update on the injuries of a firefighters in chester, delaware county. he was trapped in the basement of a home that caught fire last night. he is being treated at closures hospital. dwight evans will be sworn in tonight in washington, d.c. he won on tuesday with 90% of the vote. pennsylvania's second congressional district which includes part of philadelphia and montgomery county have been without a representative since june. chaka fattah resign shortly after his federal racketeering conviction. fattah who held the job for 20 years is appealing the

direction. slow on 42 northbound a 16 minute ride from the ac expressway to 295. it's cold, 27 in coatsville. 26 in oxford. 31 in kennet square. 26 in vineland, 32 in cinnaminson. crews have been working all weekend to clear the track in kentucky. the train heading from birmingham alabama to toledo, ohio, derailed saturday morning. 22 cars left the tracks. investigators say most of the train cars were empty. so there's no threat to the public. five people were shot at a sweet 16 birthday party in connecticut. witnesses say a people crashed a party and a fight break out into a parking lot. two gunman opened fire, the
gunfire hit fourteens and an adult. police found a gun at the scene and speaking to witnesses. a california police officer was murdered in a violent bloody way yesterday and the man accused of killing him execution style is in custody. officers arrested 36-year-old david muchatto yesterday. he is accused of shooting deputy wallace at pointblank range. he was checking a suspicious van when muchatto shot him execution style. he is the 5th law enforcement officer in california to die in the line of duty in the last five weeks. two deputies in north carolina had to fight off a man who got a hold of their baton and started beating them. the confrontation happened on a major highway in charleston county yesterday. it took 6 to ten bystanders to stop the attack.
