>> good morning, everyone, 6:00 a.m., thursday, november 17. we're following breaking news. a stray bullet hit a man leaving a philadelphia fast food restaurant. we have a live report from the scene. a drone flies close to a helicopter monitoring center city protest. both police and chopper 6 hd tracked down the operator. >> chopper 6 hd is over a crash in spring garden that could put a crimp in your morning commute. karen rogers has that. >> and david murphy has the
exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast good morning. >> reporter: we have sunshine coming up early. satellite showing cloud cover breaking up across south jersey. the stuff off to the north and west unlike yesterday has less of a chance taking a run at us, we'll cross our fingers and offer mostly sunny skies and see if it works a little better. 43 degrees in philadelphia. 45 in wilmington. 41 in allentown. 48 in millville. still holding the low 50s in cape may. like yesterday the winds are light, in fact they might be lighter this morning than yesterday, so you don't have to worry about a strong wind. as we roll through the day, 48 degrees by 7:00 a.m. nice work out if you're into that early. 58 by noon, 3:00 p.m., maybe a few clouds around, but we're hoping for bright conditions and a nice high of 52, back to 53 by 6:00 p.m.
karen it's nice friday and saturday and cold crush on sunday. >> reporter: i'm looking at the chopper shop what a mess this morning. we have an overnight accident involving a tractor-trailer. the accident happening in spring garden, chopper 6 hd over the scene, 20th is blocked at the local vine. this is also blocking traffic on the outer drive of the benjamin franklin parkway, you can see police on the scene blocking everything off. the inner drive of the parkway is open, they are allowing traffic to get by, but 20th is blocked at the local vine and the outer lanes of the benjamin franklin parkway blocked. you can see the police and the cones setting up. it's a mess because of the accident involving a tractor-trailer that brought down wires. you can see the vine street expressway at 20th street, you can see the police on the scene blocking 20th at the local vine. avoid the area by taking cherry and 22nd or spring garden or the vine street expressway.
let's go to another problem look at the traffic backed up i-95 approaching cottman. northbound at academy we have an accident blocking the left lane. northbound at academy blocking the left lane. heavy volume southbound heading toward center city. heavy past academy to cottman and early delay. an ambulance on the scene with this accident injuries in east norton, germantown pike north wales road restrictions in the area, stick to township line as the alternate. it's busy already this morning. >> gunfire erupts in west philadelphia, a man is hit by a stray bullet leaving a fast food restaurants and police find a nearby pizza shot up. and is live at the scene. >> reporter: there was gunfire marks of gunfire found up and
down market between 52nd and 53rd. at this point we're at the intersection of 53rd an market. one man was shot leaving a fast food restaurant at 52nd and market. he tells police he was hit by stray gunfire. police found a dozen shell casings up and down market street at different areas including the window of the pizza shop. the victim does not have a description of the shooter or shooters. it was after 2:30 a.m. when he was leaving a checkers fast food restaurant at 52nd and market heard shots and realized he was hit. here's police. >> reporter: upon police arrival they did find the victim who ran to his private residence in the unit block of south ruby street. they found a 30-year-old man shot in the left forearm.
medics transported him to pretty bad hospital. >> reporter: there was another witness with the victim as he left the fast food restaurant 52nd and market. police say there was a blood trail leading to the victim's home where he was found. there were numerous 911 calls that came in about the shooting and in one of the 911 calls it did describe that the victim was at the home on ruby street where he was found. in this city there are a number of real time cameras controlled by the city. southwest detectives were out here earlier, they did rap up, but they are expected to be out here to see if the businesses captured anything on their surveillance equipment. reporting live in west philadelphia, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> a drone operating faces charges for flying illegally over center city. chopper 6 hd was there as the man standing on the roof of the university city apartment
building landed his drone last night. police followed the drone to evo building at cirrus center south and the police took the man into custody. police pulled off a million dollar drug bust, but say there's more out. two men stormed a freight company in sharon hill and stole one of two boxes shipped from california. box left behind contained marijuana and cocaine. while checking surveillance video police discovered a man was robbed of a similar box in the parking lot. over the next two days similar boxes arrive, darby police arrested donald coot who police say came to pick them up. a south jersey mother met a violent death in mount holly.
police are looking for her ex-boyfriend who stabbed her in the home. this is causey who forced his way into the home and stabbed her several times. funk the know the whereabouts of are rashawn causey call 911. >> the new jersey transit train that slammed into the hoboken station has been diagnosed with salim apnea. he arranged for an expert to test him. after the accident he told investigators he didn't remember anything except waking up on the floor. officials said his diagnosis is being looked at as a potential cause. some of the 15 buildings at the scene of the massive blaze in wilmington last week are still burning this morning. the four-alarm fire destroyed a

at 52nd and market, he was hit by stray gunfire. police found a dozen shell casings around the block and also the window this we were showing you, the pizza shop shot out, as well. the victim does not have a description of the shooter or shooters. he heard shots and realized he was hit. >> reporter: he was exiting the checkers restaurant at 52nd and market and somewhere between 52nd and market and 53rd and market he heard numerous gun shots and realized he was shot in the arm and then he ran home around 2 blocks, and that's where police and medics found him at his house in the unit block of south ruby street. >> reporter: now, police say there was a blood trail from the
52nd and market area to ruby street where the victim lives. there were a number of 911 calls and in one of the 911 call, the caller said the victim did live at that address, as well. there was another witness with the victim who gave police as much information as they could. southwest detectives wrapped up an hour ago, they are expected to be back here later to look for video. there are real time cameras in the area they hope to get a better glimpse of whose responsible on those. reporting in west philadelphia, and -- annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> chopper 6 hd was over the 3600 block of north marvine street, three people ambushed a man while in his car. the 22-year-old inside died from
a general public shot to the back of the head. a local drone operator is learning about flight regulations the hard way. police spotted his aircraft hovering over protesters in center city and followed it back to the man behind the controls. katherine scott is live in university city to explain how this went down. >> reporter: the faa has a number of safety gliebs -- guidelines in place when it comes to operating a drone. the man didn't follow those. while the protest was going on, the man flew his drone dangerously close to a police helicopter. last night more protests in philadelphia. hundreds marched through the streets. suddenly a drone was spotted flying over the demonstrators you could see it from chopper 6 hd that was following the protest. police say it flew close to a
police helicopter that was monitoring the protesters near 18th and walnut. the choppers followed the drone evo build cirrus center south that houses students from various universities and colleges. they saw the man with the drone from the roof of the building. the man was seen picking up the drone and taking it inside the building. swat officers were called into investigate. students looked on. >> i saw a drone flying, it was a drone situation that's going on right now close to the helicopter. >> reporter: officers took a 20-year-old man into custody inside the building. they recovered the drone that he allegedly operated over center city streets. >> i guess if you own a drone you should be a ware of the rules and regulations. >> reporter: and laws. yeah or this is going to happen. >> reporter: as you can see from the video, the 20-year-old man was taken into custody and he could face several charges.
katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thanks, katherine. a hot air balloon made an unplanned and bumpy landing at a park in the city's kensington section. chopper 6 hd shows people running across the playground to help the crew. they held on to the basket to keep the 08-foot tall balloon from dragging off the ground a second time. they launched in glenmore chester county for a training flight. >> it was a perfect normal everyday balloon flight with a normal perfect landing in a perfect spot. >> police say the crew encountered strong winds during the flight and looking for the closest and safest place to land. nobody was hurt, the faa is investigating. happening today, president-elect donald trump is expected to meet with south carolina governor nickie hailey being considered for several cabinet posts including secretary of state. trump is shooting down reports

quakertown, 47 in center city. in the suburbs of new jersey we're in the 40s. surveillance cameras captured the moment a gas explosion rocked the main square in canton, illinois. crews swept up shattered store fronts. natural gas was shut out of an all roads in a three block raid outlines are closed. police in carbon county are looking for three teens who stole puppies. the teens came into the store asking to hold the dogs and when a sales associate was not looking, the teens broke open a door and stuffed two puppies into a coat. anyone with information about the teens is asked to call police. new york city firefighter went into action on vacation when he came across a frightening scene. this is dramatic video of the rescue. the only problem he didn't know
