>> good morning it is 6:00 a.m., friday, march 24, we're following several breaking stories. a man opens his door in the tacony section to find someone pointing a gun in his face. first a struggle and then the bad guy was shot. >> two people are found dead inside a apartment building in burlington county. police are working the scene. a busy ramp was blocked on the schuylkill expressway one person was killed involving multiple vehicles.

>> because of that, we'll go to matt pellman and then to david murphy with accuweather. >> reporter: it has not been a great morning guys, because of this nasty accident. action cam on the scene of a three vehicle crash one of the vehicles caught fire and one person was trapped inside the vehicle. the ramp schuylkill expressway westbound to the northbound boulevard extension to route 1 and east falls. the fire is out, fire crews sprayed water on the vehicle earlier. let's get back out here, the ramp is blocked, people are waiting to use it, i'm not sure why they are waiting. it could be quicker to go on the schuylkill expressway to city avenue and flip and get to the schuylkill expressway from the eastbound side of 76. they are still waiting. some traffic is getting by in the main lanes of 76 westbound heading toward industry avenue. we're seeing a -- city avenue. we're seeing a backlog at

montgomery drive, bail out there, head over to the mlk drive to east falls or come out the drive and avoid the schuylkill expressway altogether. vine street expressway, traffic is moving well by the schuylkill expressway there was no overnight construction. on the big picture, i-95 looks good so far this morning. we're watching a new crash in cobbs creek along baltimore avenue near 61st over cobbs creek emergency crews responding there. there's a house fire along shoe brook lane. murphy lands, problems in the neighborhood, this morning, david. >> reporter: that's not good. we have clouds sweeping in on satellite from the northwest, so if we get early sunshine, it will tend to fade behind clouds. there's precipitation out by pittsburgh that will ride in early in the morning and afternoon. most of showers in the northern

and western suburbs. there's a winter weather advisory in the poconos that kicks in at 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. because of freezing rain surface temperatures slow to warm above the freezing mark there. 35 in reading. freezing mark in philadelphia. not as cold as yesterday, but certainly winter coat weather, the winds are not that strong, so that's good we're not worrying about severe windchills this morning. as we go through the day it will get milder. we'll have the period in the morning and afternoon, where we cloud up and might see a passing shower particularly in the northern suburbs. the sun returns in the afternoon we get milder. high of 55 around 4:00 p.m. as you can see we're holding in the mid 50s for a good portion of the afternoon. when i step inside we'll talk about a warmup for tomorrow, and another change sunday. >> breaking news, firefighters are battling a fire at a delaware county home on block of shiver in astin

township. there's an injury, it is not known how badly they were hurt. a man opens his door and finds a man pointing a gun at him that led to a scuffle and it was the man with the gun that got shot. it was happening on hagger man street. katherine scott is live with the details. >> reporter: good morning, tam this remains under investigation, the man who police say showed up at the door with the gun is in critical condition. other two men are being interviewed by northeast detectives. you can see there's a police officer posted at the corner of this home in tacony. police say a 29-year-old who rent the second floor apartment answered a knock on the door around 12:30 a.m. here at the home of the haggerman and benner. he opened the door and told

police there was a man pointing a gun at him. they started wrestling, a third man saw the fight went to the apartment and got a gun and shot the suspect in the face. the 26-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital in critical condition. the other two men are cooperating with police. they told detectives they don't know who the suspect was or why he came to the apartment, and because he didn't get very far, police don't know if he was trying to rob the place. they are investigating the some of the possibilities, but this remains under investigation, police did recover two weapons at the scene. we are live at tacony, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. now on to developing news, detectives are on the scene of a death investigation in burlington county. police were called to the fox meadow apartments in maple shade. two bodies were discovered inside one of the apartment units. a heavy police preference remains at the scene. police and county officials are being extremely tight lipped about the investigation.

but "action news" is on the scene working for details stay with us here and for the very latest on this developing story. >> new information this morning septa police say they have arrested all of the suspects involved in a fight at a septa station in center city. they hauled in 11 teens yesterday. the fight took place at the race vine station with some of the passengers recording the video. police say fights like this are becoming more common. so they are beefing up patrols in the subways every afternoon after school let's out. a man is recovering following a shooting at a playground in wilmington, delaware. shots rang out at 7th and pine street. the victim ran three blocks before collapsing. the medics took the victim to christiana hospital he was in critical condition. information about a suspect has not been released. >> 6:06 a.m., the moment a gas station attention was held up at gunpoint in evesham township was

afternoon. it's cold outside this morning, we're no longer in the low 20s like yesterday with the windchills in the teens. winds are light today and temperatures coal enough for a coat, but 32 is better than 22 in philadelphia. 34 in allentown currently. satellite and radar showing up on future tracker 6 you can see how the clouds are in the process of sweeping through. it might be cloudier than what the model is showing. there's precipitation up in the poconos. between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. there's chance of light freezing rain in the poconos. looks like by the time that precipitation gets to allentown it will be too warm for that. something to keep in mind if you see anything in the peculiars approximation or -- in the poconos or northern suburbs early. by 2:00 p.m. it is done. we see the skies bien -- brighten. up in the lehigh valley,

going on in gloucester county, new jersey, it looks like you see a home there some sort of the white truck, somebody knocking on the doorway. a lot of questions as they focus on theown street in clayton, township. a lot of questions and a few answers, our katherine scott is heading tarred the scene to

gather details. well bring you new information as the becomes available. >> how is the schuylkill expressway doing? no big improvements just yet. that's for sure. we have an awful overnight accident. looks like one vehicle needs to be towed from the ramp from txtn northbound, the twin bridges. initially when the accident happened overnight it involved three vehicles and one of them caught fire. there were people tra vehicle. has an awful situation -- it was an awful situation and emergency crews on the scene. there's one vehicle left that has to be towed. maybe in the next few minutes they will get it open, but in the meantime they are blocking the ramp from the schuylkill expressway westbound to the boulevard northbound. you can go west and exit at the cip around. from the eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway you can get to the northbound side of 1.

head over to mlk drive and cross the river at falls bridge into east falls and get on the northbound side of the boulevard. i think it will be open soon. on the big picture we're watching that, and a crash in yeadon delaware county along baltimore avenue and 61st at cobbs creek. getting word of a crash bensalem bucks county south the turnpike. one last live look outside in exton, chester county, 202 by the 30 bypass comes in. we had overnight construction they are working on the bridge over the amtrak tracks in the overnight for the next few months, the crews are gone so the lanes are open. >> police in washington, d.c. have been tweeting about what appears to be an unusually high number of missing children. hundreds of people packed a town hall tile meeting to learn about the cases. police insist the number of people that have gone missing

have not gone up, it's just that people are noticing the cases more. a new police commander is deciding that every case gets equal attention and posted on social media. the community is scared. police report the the disappearance of black girls over the 3 days. >> we are worried about somebody trying to take us. >> washington, d.c. mayor told reporters there is no evidence the missing teens are part of a human trafficking ring. it was not your typical day on the job for a poor construction worker who was left dangling from a highrise in florida when the scaffolding he was on collapsed. rescue workers lord the man to the ground. after being rescued he was taken to the hospital to be checked out. the cause is under investigation. that was a long hour for that man. cruise control there's

california is hailed as a hero for pulling a dog from the burning apartment and going beyond that. cameras captured him running out of the building carrying the dog, there he is, spending 20 minutes performing cpr on the dog. >> we had to bring him back, that was my goal. make him survive this ordeal. he is doing just fine now, the dog's owner said she is incredibly grateful. >> i don't know that i i have ever seen it before. >> it work on people, it work

on animals. >> reporter: he went above and beyond. for the ride home on the westbound schuylkill expressway we had a bus fire. this morning it's a crash and expressway to theocking the northbound boulevard. ramp is not open yet. westbound traffic backs up at montgomery drive through this point to the boulevard. go to city avenue and flip and get to the northbound boulevard tohe montgomery take mlk aby the faln east falls and ridge avenue and get on the northbound boulevard. mass transit is good this morning, there's express trains on the broad street line to get to the garth brooks concert. >> reporter: we have winter clothes on the kids because we're starting out cold, not as bad as yesterday. this afternoon it will get milder, 4 degrees in allentown -- 34 degrees in allentown. freezing mark in philadelphia. not much wind, but cold you'll want to get the winter coat going early.

developing now on "action news," two people are dead at a south jersey apartment complex we're live as police try to determine what happened. >> breaking news, police have surrounded a home in gloucester county in the last few minutes, we learned deadly details. breaking one person is killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash along the schuylkill expressway and traffic has been backed up ever since. >> good morning, 6:30, march 24. let's get over to matt pellman first up with the schuylkill expressway and then we have david murphy taking a look at accuweather good morning. >> reporter: the traffic backups continue as we start the 6:30 a.m. half-hour. the ramp remains closed as the cleanup continues. looks like they are finishing up the cleanup. it was from the overnight accident, the action cam was on the scene.

three vehicle crash one vehicle caught fire. there were people trapped inside the vehicle. a lot of emergency crews on the scene for hours. the cleanup crews are out here now. as we come back out here live, the ramp from the schuylkill expressway westbound to the boulevard northbound the twin bridges remains blocked. continue west on the schuylkill expressway out to city avenue, flip there and get on the eastbound side of 76. from there you can get on the northbound side boulevard. come westbound on the schuylkill expressway, bail at mccome over the mlk -- bail at montgomery and come over the mlk bridge to east falls. belmont avenue, it's a new accident taking out the left lane as you can see right by the belmont avenue on-ramp. traffic is squeezing by using the o to stack coming eastbound away from gladwyn.

double trouble on the schuylkill expressway. watching a crash on the phnt border near yeadon baltimore avenue close to 61st street at cobbs creek. we have a house fire on shoe brook lane, 4352 gets you around that. david is outside with the forecast. >> reporter: it's a cold start, we'll see early sunshine, but the clouds are spilling down out of the north and west, eventually we'll see showers. up in the poconos there will be more than a shower. they are looking at freezing rain for a while this morning. there's a winter weather advisory from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. doesn't look like a whole lot of precipitation, nonetheless it could be cold enough on the ground until 1 for that to freeze up. 32 degrees in philadelphia. cold enough for a winter coat, not as cold as yesterday, ten degrees milder across the region than yesterday morning. the winds are on the light side so we don't have to worry about

burlington county, new jersey, are waiting for answers as authorities conduct a death investigation at an apartment complex. "action news" reporter, jeanette reyes is live at the scene in maple shade. jeanette? >> reporter: good morning, matt, a lot of neighbors really have not gotten their questions answered since this broke last night. a lot of unanswered questions this morning. take a live look behind me. we're seeing a bit of police activity and quite a large portion of the parking lot around this unit is taped off. we're along the 100 block of fox meadow drive, an apartment complex by the same name. burlington county officials say they got a call certainly after 9:00 p.m. that's when they responded police and medics to the unit for reports of two unresponsive people. the police presence grew quickly after that and maintained throughout the night and this morning. take a listen to what residents had to say coming home to all this. >> a bunch of cons everywhere,

get into the low 70s through much of the region. storm tracker 6 live showing us we're setting the table for all of that by giving us a few more clouds, but dry conditions. a decent morning commute. you will notice on the other side of the poconos and pottsville there's mixed precipitation and light snow. as we look outside we have sunshine way low on the horizon. the clouds getting thicker overhead. sun early is possible. we'll go through a period of the day where cloudy and things start to recover in the afternoon and we return sunshine into play. 32 degrees in philadelphia. not as cold as yesterday, but on the cold side certainly and wind out of the south at 6 miles per hour. future tracker 6 shows you how the clouds thicken up as we go through the morning. the precipitation on radar is plowing toward the poconos by 11:00 a.m. this morning. it could be freezing rain up there. by the time it gets to allentown

and brings in the milder air. with the frontal boundary parked to the north, the southerly flow continues we'll get up to 72 degrees tomorrow. the difference will be down the shore, we'll get just enough of a fetch off the cool ocean water or near the coast, mid to upper 50s in the shore communities. in you're heading to the shore tomorrow to pick out a shore rental it will be cooler than i understand land. a back door fronts pops in from new england and cools us down to 53 with light drizzle and rain. 55 today, 72 tomorrow. back to 53 with light rain and drizzle on sunday. 62 on monday, frontal boundary stalls it might be cooler. tuesday, cloudy and showers. >> woman is out walking her dog

and finds a dog, now a philadelphia police officer is charged with leaving his own dog for dead. eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway is giving us problems, matt, just like the westbound side all morning, a crash eastbound by belmont got pushed off to the side. they had both lanes blocked for a while. two dlains -- delays here and on the westbound side side.

look. this happened back at 4:00 a.m., an area of the schuylkill expressway where it is a bad place to have an accident in fact anywhere on the schuylkill expressway it's a bad place, again, 4:00 a.m. is when this happened. it is still jamming things up nearly 3 hours later. >> matt pellman has been watching it all this time. he has some ideas on other routes you might want to try. >> reporter: bottom line doesn't matter which direction you're going on the schuylkill expressway we have problems eastbound and westbound. let's start with the westbound. the backlog are we're seeing from chopper 6 hd goes from montgomery drive goes out to the ramp to the north side of the boulevard route 1 to go up to the twin bridges. that's the ramp that is still blocked because of the awful overnight accident and vehicle fire, three vehicles involved they are towing them away and cleaning them up. right now the ramp is still closed and the westbound schuylkill expressway is parking lot from montgomery drive on

out. go to city avenue and flip around from the eastbound side get to the boulevard or i would bail at montgomery and head over to mlk drive, use the falls bridge to cross the river and go into east falls and ridge avenue get on the northbound side of the boulevard. speeds are slower on the eastbound side, 3 miles per hour an hour from conshohocken on into belmont. we've been watching this accident. they got it pushed off to the side right here by the belmont on-ramp. you can see it right here, both lanes of schuylkill expressway eastbound are open at belmont, but still it is very slow with the 3 miles per hour as you come eastbound on so i would use alternates for eastbound as well. thing about ridge avenue. cash bensalem south of the turnpike hulmeville road. new construction started in

chester county, valley park road, 23 or ashton road better bets. lone ton police have -- london police have taken two more people into custody in connection with the terror attack. several thousand people gathered to honor the victims and families. american kurt cochran was one of the four people killed. he and his wife were on the westminster bridge on wednesday. kahlid masood plowed into the pedestrians. isis referred tom as a soldier. a philadelphia police officer is accused of putting his adopted dog into a trash bag and dumping the dog in a local park. a woman stumpedded -- stumbled upon the dog who was emaciated abdomin barely alive -- and

firefighting effort. >> a southern california man got a chance to thank two of the first responders who helped save his life. victor garcia junior was involved in a fiery head on crash in november. two people were killed in the crash. a police officer used his patrol vehicle to push his car away from the burning wreckage so the firefighters could pull him out to safety. >> there were a few times i thought it was either take me or save me. i got saved. >> i was just doing my job, whatever it took to get him to safety. >> garcia said he has a long way to go in his recovery, but doing it in grad -- gratitude.

>> welcome back we're bringing you up to date on the four stories unfolding right now. first up a person was found shot to death inside a home in clayton, gloucster county early this morning. it's unclear about what has gone on here at this time. a firefighters and one other person were injured in a house fire in delaware county. it's not known how bad they were hurt or how the fire started. a man opened a door to find another man pointing a gun at him in tacony section. that led to a scuffle and the

man was shot in the face by a third party who ran to get their firearm. authorities are investigating the death of two people in an apartment complex, first responders found their bodies inside a unit at the fox meadow apartments in maple shade. >> reporter: i think we have progress on the ramp from the schuylkill expressway westbound to the boulevard northbound. they are pushing the accident out of the way, they are in the process of reopening the ramp. as chopper scans back you can see the delay behind the ramp closure. on the eastbound side it's slower because of this crash by belmont jammed solid from conshohocken. >> reporter: dry across the region, storm tracker 6 live double scan shows rain and freezing rain pushing in from the north and west. looks like the poconos has the best chance of seeing freezing rain later this morning. 55 is the high this afternoon. we'll cloudy up for a while today, but sun returns later.
