>> a robber pistol whips a woman inside her olney home. >> gun control activists rally outside city hall as victims of the florida shooting prepare to make an impassioned plea to their own lawmakers. >> another springlike start. don't get used to it. spring is not really here. accuweather is tracking a reality check. >> good morning. it is 5:30 on this wednesday february 21st. david and karen join us with weather and traffic. good morning. >> luckily we have no reality today so that's great. >> and we -- let's get you to the weather center. we have cloud out there and some fog. i'll take a closer look at visibilities in a moment and we'll get a better read on that fog. but some clouds. i expect some sun to break through as we go especially later into the morning and afternoon. 53 degrees right now in philadelphia. and 60 in trenton.
really starting out mild after that record breaking day yesterday in a lot of neighborhoods. still just 42 in allentown. 58 in reading, 51 in wilmington, 55 in millville. still a little cooler in cape may at 44. fog. we still got some problems with this today like yesterday. now, some of these visibilities are immoving a little bit. we're still at a third of a mile in allentown, poconos out in lancaster but we've improved to 2 miles in wilmington. actually that's a worse number in philadelphia, .8 miles and down to about a mile in millville. that also is coming up a little bit. but still pretty thick fog down in wildwood and the airport in atlantic city. so as you're driving around in those places where you have the spotty patchy fog you'll want to slow it down. like yesterday you might have some problems not being able to see things in the roads swells you should. by noon 69 degrees. you can see how there is sun mixing with clouds dan we're expecting the high of 76 degrees this afternoon. that will totally destroy the old record of 72. it looks like we'll set a lot of records across the region and in fact before too much longer into the afternoon.
72 degrees is your 5 o'clock temperature and by 7 o'clock, 68 degrees. karen, if you liked yesterday enjoy today while you got it. later tonight there are some evening showers coming in and behind that cooler air and cloudy and damp conditions for tomorrow. it's all in the seven-day. >> one more spring like day. looking live at 95 at old lincoln highway in bucks county. fog is not that big of a deal as you're traveling. southbound traffic heading towards bristol township. currently no delay on i-95 and looking pretty good in bucks county. on the big picture blue route is in good shape. so is the schuylkill. looking at speeds upper 40's and 50. we showed you i-95 moving nicely here. don't forget in olde city we still have portions of chestnut second and third, they're blocked from sunday morning's fire location. outside live on the schuylkill at south street we saw a jam here early this morning as they were clearing construction. the construction long gone. traffic moving okay. westbound traffic right there headed towards the vine with no problems. tonight crews will return again at 9 o'clock and
restrict the schuylkill. here on haddonfield road at park avenue we have an accident that's causing problems in pennsauken in camden county. so watch for crews on the scene there. and on the ben franklin bridge not looking quite as foggy as yesterday morning. it's just a little bit damp. that's your westbound traffic. some low clouds. you're heading up and over the bridge into the city and at this point moving okay, matt. >> thank you, karen. we are following breaking news here. shots are fired outside the scene of a home invasion in the olney section where a woman says she was pistol whipped. "action news" reporter jeanette reyes just arrived at the scene along west roosevelt boulevard to tell us what she knows. goodgood morning, jeanette. >> reporter: good morning, matt. seconds ago we got word from police that this is a double home invasion. two people were pistol whipped. this is the scene here where it happened. there are two apartments in this home. there's a bottom one in the basement and then the upper floor. so, the suspect invaded both of these apartments and again pistol whipped both the homeowner as well as the residents in the lower floor.
now, this happened less than two hours ago much this is along the 200 block of west roosevelt boulevard in the olney section here. we're told the suspect fled on foot. that homeowner is being treated right now as we speak. it is unknown what was taken at this time. but we do know that the owner, again, was injured and not sure at this point aside from the second person who is pistol whipped if anyone else was injured especially by those shots fired but police are checking local hospitals. they are on the scene right now investigating. in the meantime there is some disruption to the outer lane of roosevelt boulevard. we'll keep you posted on that as well as this ongoing investigation. but that suspect is on the run this morning. reporting live in olney, jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." matt. >> thanks jeanette. we'll hear from you soon. also breaking here a hit-and-run driver damaged four cars parked in the city's feltonville section. neighbors along the 200 block of loudoun street reported hearing gunshots at 4:00 a.m. and then saw the car come
crashing into numerous other vehicles on the block. the action cam is live here with the aftermath. one vehicle, as you see, ended up on the sidewalk and near a house. another one has its windshield broken. the driver took off and there are no reports of any injuries. >> survivors of last week's school shooting in florida took an eight-hour bus ride from parkland to the state capitol of tallahassee arriving to welcoming crowds overnight. they're there to lobby state lawmakers for a ban on assault style rifles like the one used in the massacre at their school but they've had their spirits a bit dashed. some of their classmates were already there in the state capitol yesterday and they watched as lawmakers defeated a similar measure to the one they're pushing for. it was a move that left the teenagers in tears. other students and families from parkland will be in washington, d.c. today, they're going to join the president for a listening session hoping their heart felt pleas will urge him to push for more gun control. abc's arlette saenz is in

stocks, a device not used in park parkland but used in the las vegas rampage. >> i signed a memorandum directing the attorney general to propose regulations to ban all devices that turn legal weapons into machine guns. >> reporter: democratic senator dianne feinstein said the directive won't be enough tweeting legislation is the only answer. the president also wants to strengthen background checks while the white house is facing questions about assault weapons. >> does the president believe there should be an age limit for those who buy an ar. >> i think that's something on the table for us to discuss. >> reporter: president trump will meet with high school students and teachers the the white house later today. an official guest list has not been released yet but the white house says it will include people who were impacted by the mass shootings in parkland columbine and newtown. reporting live in washington, arlette saenz, channel6 "action news": tam, back to you. >> thank you for that.
developing overnight philadelphia police are searching for the driver who struck a woman and then fled the scene. this happened around midnight at the intersection of hunting park and pulaski avenues in the tioga-nicetown section. the woman is in that stable condition with an arm injury. so far police do not have a description of the vehicle wanted for this hit-and-run. >> 5:38 now. turning to accuweather and dave murphy and some fog and then, goodness, the temperatures later on today. >> similar to yesterday, probably a little bit better than yesterday if you like warm weather. >> i do. >> and, i do, too. we've got storm tracker6. we are dry. unless you've encountered some fog this morning in which case you'll get that drizzle on the windshield again. as we take a look outside right now, fog is not everywhere. at the airport they're reporting about a mile visibility, maybe .8 miles but there's still a decent amount of ability to see across the air field here. the fog is thicker, however, in some areas of south jersey and then wrapping up into
parts of the northern and western suburbs. so, it's not as widespread this morning but it's out there and if you encounter it you got to slow down. 42 degrees right now in allentown. that's one of the cooler spots. we're up to 60 in trenton and right down the road in reading, 58 degrees. 53 currently as you step outside in philadelphia. 51 in wilmington. 55 in millville. and down the shore, cooler spot, 44 next to the water in cape may and notice how those winds are still coming up from the mild south. satellite and radar, there's some cloud cover out there this morning along with the low lying clouds and fog in some spots but we do expect to transition to a clouds and sun mix through most of the day and it is going to be warm again. in the lehigh valley, some sun, 72. that is record warmth. if we hit that 72-degree high. down the shore it will be a little bit cooler right by the water. getting up to about 63 with some sun right at the coast. of course if you go inland a little way to the a.c. airport we're probably going to set a record high of 74 today so a little in off the water and it gets warm in a hurry. and in philadelphia, 76 is your high, some sun mixing with clouds. record warmth today.
and winds out of the southwest at seven to 14 miles per hour. there is the chance of some rain not a lot of it, though, and not until mainly late. we'll just show you a little blip every now and then popping up during the morning and afternoon i really think the biggest issue is this later in the evening. some showers popping down through the northern and western suburbs and coming all the way to the shore by about midnight tonight. overnight, i've got the evening showers. then we're looking at some more patchy fog developing by morning. 48 is your overnight low. and temperatures are probably only going up to about 49 for a high tomorrow. and then kind of sagging a bit from there. so, a big change coming with cooler air coming in, cloudy, dreary tomorrow, a high of just 49 and a little bit of rain around at times. enjoy today while you got it. starting this evening things start to change. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 76 degrees, patriotic isn't it and very warm for this time of year but then tomorrow 49 degrees and on friday 46. and both of those days look overcast with some periods of rain. on saturday, we start out maybe a little drizzly in the morning. i think most of your rain is going to be in the afternoon.
at least the steadier stuff and then at night 59 is the high. and overnight into sunday morning, rain is likely. now it still looks to me like sunday afternoon we dry out. i can see us, you know, maybe by 1 o'clock in the afternoon or something in philadelphia drying out. and 61, so better in the afternoon on sunday. and then it's back to the 50's on monday and tuesday but those numbers, 56, 52, are still above average. >> yeah. and it's not chilly. >> not -- no. >> no. >> this morning you go out you don't really need a coat necessarily. >> thank you david. >> yeah. >> 5:41. hollywood elite step up to support the survivors of the florida school shooting. >> and police and school officials in delaware county address concerns that were sparked by a social media post. >> you see the moment a pickup truck drives into an auto store along the jersey shore. karen. >> we've got the ramp here from the 30 bypass to 202 northbound reopened after construction has cleared so traffic is moving a lot better there. we'll take you to west conshohocken, see what's happening there next. >> ♪

ramp here from the blue route southbound to the schuylkill but it cleared and now everybody is moving fine right there. we had some construction restricting traffic on the northeast extension northbound past lansdale and near mid-county. but it cleared and now everybody's moving fine right there. we also had some crews out here on the northeast extension southbound by lehigh valley. but it cleared and everybody's moving fine. at least we have the fog so i can warn you about the fog as you're headed out right there. the only traffic problem we have. we had an accident i'd been talking about in pennsauken on haddonfield road but it cleared. you have no worries as you're headed out. someone on the waze app worried about this. an object on the road on the schuylkill eastbound. so, look for that one near charlestown. let's take a look right now at these visibility reports. the fog has gotten a little bit worse at philadelphia international airport. if you're flying out you'll want to call ahead. .8 of a mile. it's .3 in allentown and mount pocono and actually a new report near zero visibility in lancaster so that's a big deal as you're heading out today,
so just be careful. 1 mile visibility in millville. .3 in atlantic city and wildwood. and the other thing we're talking about, these really mild temperatures, upper 50's, it's already 60 in coatesville. how about that? 60 degrees in malvern. 53 in center city. normally we would be stuck in the 40's. not today. we're going well into the 70's. 76 for your high and already sitting at 60 in cinnaminson and vineland. 63 winning the award in dover, delaware, tam. >> does win the award. i like that. parents in delaware county address school safety concerns with district officials in the aftermath of a suspicious social media post. administrators with marple newtown high school confirm that a 17-year-old student posted a photo of himself holding an air soft rifle. police with the marple township police were flooded with tips something that they encourage. >> we don't have time ourselves to sit and look at every single social media post. but there's enough people out there if they pay attention
