a virginia man - saves his brother s live - but losses his-pown. tonight we )re hearing from his devastated family. their worst encounters with drivers. tonight - bicyclists are demanding stricter laws to protect them on the road. and tonight we )re learning more about a massive marina fire - that killed two people. good evening - i )m beverly kidd. and i m les smith. right now - investigators believe this is a case of arson. newschannel three s gabriella deluca joins us live at the scene with the update. from up here you can see whats left of the marina. the flames destroyed two buildings, almost 2 dozen boats,

for four hours -- firefighters worked tirelessly to put out these flames that destroyed the dozer port urbanna marina. the fire killed two people -- friends say it was a couple who was sleeping on their boat. 55:56 it )s most devastating because we have lost two friends. 56;44 immediately we knew they were missing. there were only two vans in the parking lot and both of them were there s. we knew right away and everyone was calling them and looking for the and hoping they would somehow turn up but their worst nightmare came true -- the couple had died. and now -- state police say someone intentionally set the marina on fire. 57;32 it )s shocking. i don t know first of all what kind of person would want to do that.

new details-- jesse matthew junior is set to enter a guilty plea for two albemarle murder cases. that )s according to the commonwealth )s attorney. matthew is charged with killing u-v-a student hannah graham. she disappeared in september of 20- 14-- and her remains were found a month later. if convicted- matthew could face the death penalty. the trial for graham s murder is set for july. matthew is also charged in the abduction and murder of virginia tech student morgan harrington. harrington s trial is set to start in october-- about seven years after she was murdered. a hearing is set for wednesday at one-30. that )s where matthew is expected to enter a plea agreement resolving both murder cases. the army staff sergeant charged with killing his wife and a prince william county police officer appeared in today. accused pentagon worker - ronald hamilton - requested court-appointed counsel. he remains in jail without bond. last night - a vigil was held for - officer ashley guindon - who was killed on her first day

william county police.guindon and two other officers responded to a domestic dispute saturday night. that )s when police say 32- year-old hamilton - an active duty army staff sergeant assigned to the pentagon - shot and killed his wife then opened fire on police. guindon died in the gunfire. the two other officers were hospitalized - but are expected to survive. last night bagpipes - candles and prayers helped honor guindon s life and sacrifice. guindon - a 6 year marine corp reservist and previous intern with the police department - was sworn in friday. according to the commonwealth attorney - he ll likely seek the death penalty in this case. bicyclists in north carolina are demanding stricter laws to protect them on the road. hear and see some of their worst encounters - ahead on newschannel three. then - he protected his

take a look at this crash in tyrrell county - today. according to the sheriff )s office - the crash happened around 10:30 this morning. we )re told the truck was heading down riders creek road - off of n-c 94 - when it somehow ended up on the side of the road - running right into a muddy ditch. the sheriff s office says the driver is doing okay.

man - who they say robbed a hanover seven eleven over the weekend. investigators say the man came into the store - disguised with this monster mask - he then robbed the clerk at gun point and took off in a gray minivan. this all happened around 3 sunday morning. no one was hurt. investigators believe the same man also robbed a henrico 7- eleven earlier this weekend.

a husband and wife have died in an explosion at their home. it happened around 10 last night in cleveland county - north carolina. highway patrol troopers say a pick-up truck driver lost control and crashed into a propane tank -- triggering the big explosion. investigators say the couple was rescued from their home - but later died at the hospital. the truck driver was not seriously hurt. so far - police say

we )re learning more about a massive fire that charred a spotsylvania county daycare. fire officials say the owners of "always sunshine learn and play" was on site working - when they smelled smoke and called 9-1-1. when firefighters arrived at the building - they discovered a large amount of fire in the attic. it took 45 firefighters an hour to bring the fire under control. no one was hurt. officials are still trying to figure out exactly what caused the fire. earlier this month - we told you about a car crash that hurt 4 bicyclist in north carolina. there story is now stirring up a lot of conversation about cycling safety across the state. amber roberts - with our sister station in high point north carolina - spoke to other riders about some of the scary encounters they ve faced. all these cyclists wanna do... i m scared for my life is ride the road. the law says...they have the right to. you know their cussing at you and you re cussing at them but sometimes...drive rs make it unsafe for them. i ve had close calls...i ve been hit my mirrors...i )ve had angry motorists yell at me...i ve had things thrown at me they do things around a bicycle

was once out on a country road and a tractor trailer truck pulled up beside me and then moved to the right to force me off the side of the road these cyclists say those things happened to them...right here in the triad. as if those stories arent scary enough.. take a look at this video... a biker in the raleigh area wanted us to share this... nats yea...you saw that, right? a driver tried to get around a group of cyclists...and while illegally passing, ran another car off the road. this is something cyclists here in the triad say they see...way too often. if motorists just slow down and give us a little time they aren t going to be delayed more than a minute for pretty much every time they get caught behind a cyclists on the road it s just over and over again same thing they don )t get charged or they )re minimal charges it s aggravating we )re all out here doing this for our health riders say they want stricter laws against drivers who hurt cyclist because of violating

chesterfield police are trying to catch the man who tied up several people then robbed them at gunpoint. investigators say two weeks ago the man - walked in the manchester moose lodge and pointed a gun at customers and employees. according to police the man zip tied the victims to chairs - then stole money from the register. no one was seriously hurt - but tonight police are trying to find him - before he strikes again. right now - investigators in powhatan are trying to solve what they are calling a suspicious death. police responded to a home - for a welfare check last night. inside the house - officers found a body with strangulation marks around the neck. police say the house had been ransacked. family members reported they hadn )t heard from the man in several days. now to petersburg where - two virginia teenagers are behind bars - charged with the murder of 22- year-old man. the colonial heights father died after being shot at an apartment complex over the weekend. jon burkett - with our sister station - spoke with the victim s younger brother - who says he only survived the shooting because his big brother
