we are following breaking news this morning out of newport news. where police are investigating two early morning shootings. officers were called to jefferson avenue--near the virginia living museum just after midnight. when they arrived they found a man with a gunshot to the leg. he was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. no word on who shot the man. just a few minutes later-- police say another man walked into a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. he was shot in the chest and the stomach---he is currently in critical condition. no word on where the man was shot or who shot him. we are working to figure out if these two shootings are connected. if you know anything call the crimeline. new this morning: a pizza delivery driver robbed

norfolk. police were called to piccadilly street just after one this morning. officers say the person who robbed the driver was armed. the driver wasn )t hurt. big political news from portsmouth-- a former city manager could go from being fired-- to back in power. news channel 3s makenzie walter is live in portsmouth with the details. former city manager john rowe is looking to get back in the political ring after the city council forced him out last spring. but this time around - hes looking to take it to the next level - you may remember the drama in portsmouth city council last spring - as former city manager john rowe was fired - after already announcing his plan to resign. rowe had served as city manager for about two and a half years leading up to that night. at the time - mayor kenny wright told

rowe )s proposed budget -- which-p&included a 17- cent tax -p&increase. but now - rowe will get his chance at political revenge. city councilman bill moody says rowe will formally announce today that he )s running for mayor. rowes not the only one in the race - there are several other contenders. most notable -- the incumbent -- kenny wright. he announced in a february facebook post that he would be seeking re- election. the election is in november. news channel 3 reached out to mayor wright to get his thoughts on the challenge -- but haven t-p&heard back. john rowe is scheduled to make the formal announcement tonight. today fire crews in currituck county will try and figure out how a fire started.

6-30 last night. it )s the area right where it intersects with south currituck road. there aren )t any reports of anyone hurt. it has been one year since anjelica "aj" hadesell was reported missing. norfolk police say the 18 year old disappeared while home from longwood university on spring break. her body was found months later outside of an abandoned home in southampton county. anjelicas step father - wesley hadsell - is currently in jail - but on charges not related to her death. the southampton county commonwealth attorney has not made any arrests in her death. they are still investigating. this morning the charlottesville community is reflecting on the murders of u-v-a student hannah graham and virginia tech student morgan harrington. this comes a day after jesse matthew pleaded guilty to both crimes. harrington )s parents visited the bridge near the john paul jones arena on wednesday after that hearing. they )ve made the visit every year.

documents show several witnesses saw morgan get into jesse matthew s taxi the night she disappeared. they say it s the last time they )ll make the visit. for hannah graham s parents -- the fact that matthew will spend the rest of his life in prison is a reminder of potential cut short. outcue: ".. had a home in urbanna . along with the couple killed in the massive fire -- nearly two dozen boats were destroyed. police say evidence at the scene led them to believe the fire was arson. they still haven t said what that evidence is. new details - we now know the cause of death for a man found dead at a suffolk cemetery. the medical examiner says 42-year-old wayne watford died from being shot in the back. watford s body was found early tuesday morning at the pleasant hill cemetery-- on dill road. if you know anything about the case, call the crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up. later today: the virginia national guard s virginia beach based 203-rd red horse squadron will honor 18 unit members and three florida

they lost their lives 15 years ago in a tragic plane crash. the virginia guard engineers and three florida aviators had just completed a two-week military construction project in florida when their planed crashed in a cotton filed in georgia back in 2001. the crash was the worst peacetime aviation disaster in the history of the national guard, and the worst loss of life in the virginia national guard since world war two. today -- they will honor those fallen airmen at camp pendleton at 9-30. coming up the g-o-p is in a battle to stop a donald trump election ticket---and one presidential candidate has taken himself out of the running. astronaut scott kelly is back in the u-s this morning after

north korea has fired several (short-range ( projectiles of the east coast of the korean peninsula. this comes just hours after the u.n. imposed tough new sanctions because of the nations recent nuclear test and missile launch. officials say the projectiles that were launched were either rockets or guided missiles. it )s seen as an act of defiance-p&against the sanctions.-pthe south korean military is investigating. new details a piece of wreckage from a boeing 777 -- likely from mh370 -- was found washed ashore on the coast of mozambique. the newly discovered debris is on its way to malaysia for further examination. a source says there is no record of any other boeing 7- 7-7 missing besides flight m-h-370. the malaysia airlines flight disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board u-s special operations forces have detained their first suspected isis fighter in
