primary to choose party nominees for president is one the florida party nominees for president is one month from today. but, hundreds of

out. the deadline to change your party affiliation or become a registered voter is tomorrow, february 16th. that's if you want to participate in the primary on march 15th. so, if you are planning to vote for candidates hillary clinton or bernie sanders, you have to register as a democrat. or, register as a republican to vote for one of the many candidates on that side like marco rubio or jeb bush. this has been a popular primary season thus far...supervisors are seeing high voter interest and expect a higher than average turnout. hundreds of thousands of 'vote by mail' ballots have already gone out. you have until march 9th to have one sent to you or you can pick one up for your local supervisors office. a major debate in our nation's capitol right now. just days after the death of u-s supreme justice antonin scalia, both parties are at odds with who president obama should nominate to succeed him. 79-year-old scalia passed away suddenly over the weekend while vacationing at this resort ranch. known for his strict conservative views, scalia was both criticized and beloved by his

minutes interview he maintained his disagreements weren't personal. early this morning his body was taken from texas to virginia at the request of his family. pope francis travels to mexico's southern border today after a jam packed outdoor mass on sunday. 300 thousand people attended the largest event on his historic six day visit. in his homily, the pope urged mexicans to build a society with equal opportunity for everyone. mexican officials started aerial anti- mosquito spraying and house-to-house fumigation in the area to protect the pope from the zika virus. developing this morning out of bradenton...a deputy is on leave this morning after shooting and killing a man. according to sheriff brad steube -- it all started when deputies responded to a fight at a home on boo-kelia circle. a woman called 9- 1-1 to say her husband.. 50 year old marc stoddart had been drinking and threatening to hurt them both with a knife. the sheriff says when deputies got there.. the man had cut his wrists and was standing outside

reportedly told the they say he charged forward and was shot and killed. happening today-- the first stage of tampa international million dollar complete. airport will unviel a new concession area. the airport is working to make it easier to get around curbside areas, roads and main terminal around tia. they're also trying to add a large car rental center near the entrance to the airport, a a nearly one-and-a-half mile automated people mover and an expansion to the main terminal. today -- a new consession center will open-- giving you more options for food and drinks the next time you fly. michigan governor rick snyder is asking the federal government to expand medicaid coverage. snyder says more than 15 thousand people will be helped if medicaid coverage expands to people under 21 and pregnant women who were exposed to flint's lead contaminated water. the governor says the state would help by lining up doctors and behavioral health specialists. right now, crews in virginia are loading up and spreading a salt mix onto roads and highways as drivers prepare for a snowstorm today

just last month, the roads in central virginia were covered in packed that made for a dangerous commute. snow accumulation isn't the last storm, but been pretreating the roads since friday. sleet and ice are already creating slick conditions for drivers in tennessee. pulled dozens of cars from ditches caused major backs 24 near clarksville. they're taking it slow, but that doesn't always help. the national weather service expected conditions overnight. drivers should stay

they absolutely need to go out. this morning crews are working to find out what started a massive fire in brooklyn, new york. take a look at these images tweeted out by f-d-n-y overnight. the fire department says it took 140 firefighters to gain control of the fire just hours ago. crews say fire was burning on all three floors of the home. as of right now no injuries have been reported. crews rescued 48 people from two tram cars at a new hampshire ski resort on sunday. the trams got stuck 40 feet above the ground in sub- zero temperatures. no one was hurt as rescuers rappelled the skiers down to safety. officials believe there was a service break issue and the cold temperature was not a factor. if gandy boulevard is part of commute you'll want to hear this. due to road construction - traffic is being de- toured right now along the west bound lanes of gandy boulevard 16th street. tour signs to get around work crews who will be in the area until 6 in the morning. this is all a part of the gandy create a six lane road warrior

fortunately no one was hurt. it happened sunday during the "make in india" event meant to showcase the country as an attractive destination for u-s travelers. the fire is being seen as an embarrassment to the government because it was one of the most ambitious economic initiatives to compete with nearby china. san diego lifeguards made their third rescue in three days on sunday when a teenage swimmer was swept into a cove. the teen was knocked into the water off of a cliff and strong waves swept him up against the rocks. lifeguards assembled a hoisting crane to bring the teen up the cliff wall. fortunately he was only bruised a little during the incident. teenage boys deprived of deep sleep are at higher risk of diabetes. that's according to researchers at penn state. they found adolescent boys who did not get the most restful stage of sleep were more likely to develop insulin resistance. the study found that the same did not hold true for girls. in case you missed it, sports illustrated is making history with its latest cover models of the swimsuit issue.
