good morning and welcome to 10 news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. happening today, the city of tampa works to keep you safe during severe weather. the fire department plans to give out dozens of weather radios to mobile home parks across the area. this will help give

communities as much warning as possible in the case of severe weather. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live at the winward lakes mobile home community on dale mabry in tampa. emerald, these weather radios are especially helpful in the case of a tornado. - that's right...in the case of a tornado...often times you only have minutes to get to safety... - so these weather radios could be the difference between life and death...and if you don't have one, officials say this is a must-have for your emergency safety kit. - that's exactly why the office of emergency management and tampa fire officials are partnering up to make sure people living in mobile home parks have access to one of these life- saving tools - about 70 of these radios were donated to the city...and this new initiative will make sure every mobile home park in tampa has at least one.

are damaged from running over holes in the road. potholes are caused when water gets into the cracks of asphalt. triple a says if you maintain proper tire pressure that will help avoid serious damage. new details this morning on the fight against zika. the world health organization says they have a plan in place to fight the virus, but it will cost 56-million dollars. the organization declared the zika epidemic a "public health emergency of international concern." part of the plan includes more studies into the birth defects linked to the virus and testing treatments to diagnose cases. just days before the south carolina primary... republican presidential frontrunner donald trump is not letting a direct attack from president obama bother him. this comes as democratic contenders stump for minority votes. trump took aim at the president in south carolina tuesday night, just moments after the commander-in-chief said this:

president's prediction, trump still commands a double-digit lead in south carolina. right now, a big group of people from the bay area are getting ready to leave for tallahassee. they're protesting several anti-immigration bills that are taking center stage in our state's capitol. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live in tampa where the group will leave from shortly. sarah, this group has big concerns about their future if these bills go through. yes, they're taking a stand against several anti- immigration bills proposed this session. they say those bills would deport hard working people and seperate parents from their children. this morning groups are on their way to tallahassee from across the state--including tampa, clearwater and auburndale--to make their opinions heard in the statehouse. this session, 9 anti- immigration bills have been proposed, including one that attempts to punish

final order of deportation or came back to the u-s to reunite with their families. but coming up -- last week leaders in the florida senate declared that the anti-immigration bills are dead this session, i'll explain why despite that-- this group is still headed to tallahassee. live in tampa, sarah hollenbeck, 10news wtsp in a few hours the pope is expected to touch on immigration...during his final day in mexico. he'll hold a mass right along the border...roughly half a football field's length from the united states. he'll be in ciudad juarez, mexico....right along the us/mexico border with el paso. the mass will be held here near the juarez fairgrounds where 220-thousand people expected to attend in mexico. on the other side of the border...in texas...30-thousand people are expected to fill the sun bowl stadium in el paso to watch a live feed of the mass. the service will be called "two nations, one faith

is a cross-border community...with thousands traveling back and forth between the two counties each day. pope francis plans to stop at the fence along the border to give a blessing in honor of migrants on the other side...and pray for those who died trying to get there. this is his final day in mexico. he heads back to the vatican tonight. new this morning, a 'university of tennessee' football player is facing charges in pinellas county. deputies say this man... mackenzie "mack" crowder was talking to someone online who he believed was a 14- year-old girl. throughout conversations, the 23-year-old sent sexual photographs and asked the girl to engage in sexual acts with him. when he tried to meet with her in pinellas county, deputies showed up and arrested him. during the interview, crowder admitted to sending the photos. we've learned apple is fighting a judges order to break into an iphone belonging to one of the san bernardino shooters as part of the f-b-i investigation. because prosecutors don't know the number combination to get into his phone, apple will need to disable the security feature

can try as many times as they need to. this is raising questions about privacy.. normally if someone tries a certain amount of times, the phone will lose all of its data. the phone belonged to suspect, syed farook's employer. as the city deals with a water crisis, flint, michigan gets hit with yet another blow this morning. a national study found people there have the highest water rates in america. public interest group "food and water watch" reports people in flint paid about 864 dollars a year for water service. get this, that's nearly double the national average. the u-s surgeon general says most flint children who were exposed to toxic lead in the city's tap water will recover over time. he still warns health officials and community leaders should continue educating those affected on the issues they could possible face from the water issue in the future. today we are expected to find out who in florida won part of a historic one and a half billion dollar powerball jackpot. the winners will take home their

the six remaining republican presidential candidates will meet at c-n-n's back to back town halls today and tomorrow in south carolina. ben carson, ted cruz and marco rubio will gather in greenville for today's town hall, while donald trump, jeb bush and john kasich will answer questions from voters in columbia on thursday night. take a look at this video out of rochester, new york. heavy snow caused this mess on the roads there this week. no one was seriously hurt. hundreds of drivers on route 490 were forced to wait in their cars for hours, which caused a problem for some who started running out of gas. eventually, plows were able to get to the roads and make way for tow trucks. crews is colorado are working to repair an interstate after a rock slide damaged the roadway. take a look. one truck driver narrowly escaped when parts of the canyon wall started sliding while he was passing through. construction crews have started using explosives to
