news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. the day is finally here. you've heard about a new ferry service connecting downtown st pete to downtown tampa. today--- the cross bay ferry will make it's first trip across tampa bay. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live on 2nd avenue northeast where the ferry is stationed this morning. sarah, by friday, we're going to have a new way to get around town. take its maiden voyage today-- carrying city leaders from both sides. starting today you can buy tickets for the first day this opens to the public: friday. leaders in hillsborough and pinellas have worked for years towards this day. the 149-person ferry is part of a 6-month pilot program.

connect you from the pier behind the museum of history in st pete to the convention center in downtown tampa. it will run twice a day-- and start with mostly weekend service. st pete mayor rick kriseman says sitting on this ferry will sure beat sitting in traffic. city leaders want to know if the boats are popular and city leaders want to know if the boats are popular and from there they'll look at expanding the service. the biggest criticism they've heard: that the boats won't make enough trips to make it a reliable

the white house press secretary josh earnest weighed in on the controversy. he said the president doesn't believe director comey is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of an election. president obama will be in florida once again. he'll be flying to miami tomorrow. then on thursday, he'll be joining in at a rally for hillary clinton. today officially starts the fourth open enrollment for obamacare. listen to this before you enroll. those of you who will use obamacare may have fewer health insurance choices next year. an associated press analysis found people in about a third of u-s counties will only have one insurer. under the 'affordable care act", the country's uninsured rate has dropped to historic lows. the search continues this morning for a father who disappeared in the alafia river. the hillsborough county sheriff's office says 38- year-old william morris was jet skiing with his 3- year-old son, but never made it home. when his wife called his cell phone, the child answered and told her that he was alone on a small island. the boy was

the island they were last seen on is known as "island 75". it's on the alafia river just west of i-75. deputies found the jet ski on the south side of the island. an adult life jacket and morris' wallet were on it. when we find out more information on the search for morris, we will update you on air and on our website w-t-s-p dot com. it's been almost five months since the shooting at an orlando nightclub. a judge ordered the city of orlando to release the audio from a series of 9- 1-1 calls made by the gunman. the release of the calls, moments after the city dropped its objection. transcripts of the calls were released in september. the gunman claimed his attack at pulse nightclub was revenge for a u-s air strike that killed an isis leader. throughout the three-hour-long throughout the three-hour-long standoff, the negotiator repeatedly tries to get the gunman to share information on what's going on inside the club and to come out peacefully. eventually, police killed him. there are 232

working on a pipeline when it exploded. the mayor there says that it was not related to a leak that caused an explosion in the same area several months ago. new video this morning out of oakland, california. fire broke out at a construction site getting dangerously close to people living nearby. two security guards inside the building were able to get out safely. people are waiting to get back inside their apartment buildings. the cause is under investigation. parents...this is an interesting story about halloween candy. the "american chemical society" looked into how much candy you would need to eat before potentially dangerous effects. it's a lot. 13 and a half grams of sugar per pound of body weight and it would have to be eaten all at once. so for someone weighing 180 pounds, it would take about five point four pounds of sugar in one sitting. that could be 262 fun size bars or 1,672 pieces of

yeah, you've heard us say it over and over again about how crucial florida is to this election. but if you really want to understand which areas trump and clinton are fighting for hardest, all you have to do is pay attention to where they show up this week. on top of being here in pasco today... hillary clinton will also make stops in seminole and broward counties, so she's going to be all over the state. but the stops here and in seminole touch on the i-4 corridor...which is critical to the election. in fact, a new report from the associated press suggests the i-4 corridor could actually decide the election. that's huge, but no surprise, as the area is considered to be a bellwether---or predictor of how the state and the nation could go in the election. and with clinton and trump both neck-and-neck in the polls...with trump actually having a slight lead...both candidates will
