year, you'll be able to come here to port tampa bay and board one of its newest ships to set sail into the caribbean. it's exciting news if you've been saving up for a nice trip. the new vessel will be run by carnival cruise lines...and it's going to offer 7-day cruises from port tampa bay to lots of destinations along the caribbean sea. the "carnival miracle" ship will depart the port on weekends and go to destinations including cozumel, belize city and grand cayman...and it'll be able to take more than 2100 passengers with it. carnivall also be offering a special excursion to the panama canal that you can take advantage of in april of 2018. and coming up at 5:30, we'll talk about the impact adding this new ship could have here in the tampa bay area. back to you. if you plan to travel abroad in the next few years, you absolutely need to pay attention to this next story. passport changes are coming soon. travel experts are urging you to get your updated version as soon as

10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live in the newsroom. sarah, passport renewal already takes about six weeks, and even if your passport doesn't expire for a couple more months, you should get it processed soon. yes, so lets say you want to take a trip in january, and your passport expires in mid-february. no problem you think.....but actually a lot of destinations require foreign passports to be valid for months the reason? if something happens to you-- like an emergency hospital stay-- you're still legally able to stay on foreign soil until your able to return to the u-s. you might be wondering, what are these big changes? the most important thing-- passports will now have data chips to ensure security and decrease fraud. you can also expect your new passport to be lighter rather than the 52- page passports, your new one will only have 28 pages-- unless you opt to

change-- if you wear glasses, you'll no longer be able to wear them in your passport photo. travel experts are also urging you to double-check your kid's passports those are only valid 5 years, instead of 10...and they require more paperwork. coming up at 5- 30...there's a big reason you'll see longer lines to renew your passport, and it may even take longer for the government to process it. i'll explain why that is--- in 30 minutes. ian..... with four day until the election, donald trump is stopping by the bay area tomorrow. he will be speaking at the florida state fairnd both trump and hillary clinton have been crisscrossing "must win" battlegrounds states. they've also deployed their own armies of surrogates to help them get to the finish line. melania trump hasn't made many public appearances since the republican national convention, but she is campaigning on behalf of her husband. in a speech on thursday in pennsylvania, she said that as first lady, her focus would be to put an end to bullying, particularly cyber-bullying.

we may be in florida, but curtis hixon park in downtown tampa is going to soon look a little more like winter. it's all part of the winter village. not only will there be an ice rink, but there will be a cafe with seasonal treats, and a pop-up market. there you can buy decorative goods, clothes, and jewelry and more. winter village opens november 18th. this is something a lot of people here in tampa bay will be talking about today. tampa has topped a list for the most dog-friendly cities. this was a list put out by sparefoot. they used research by wallethub, zumper and realtor to make their decision. they say tampa has a lot of pet- friendly listings and dog parks and the tampa bay pet expo was a real draw. seattle and scottsdale, arizona round out the top three. this has a lot of people excited this morning. after much speculation, toy story 4 is officially happening! according to simple most dot com, you'll have to wait a while before you see the whole toy gang in theaters. the fourth installment will be out june 21 2019.

farmers. others say it was a way to save energy back in the day. the real reason? the earth's axis. experts say if the planet wasn't tilted, hours of daylight wouldn't change so much. ian ad lib reaction you may know that daylight saving time isn't used all over the u-s. daylight saving time wasn't uniformed until former president lyndon johnson ed and end dates across the country. two states opted out of it, hawaii and arizona. get this, parts of indiana didn't use daylight saving time until 2006. now its statewide. so remember, daylight saving time starts at 2 a-m on sunday. to help you out in the morning, you may want to set your clocks back before you go to bed on saturday night.

this has a lot of you talking this morning. former how i met your mother star cobie smulders makes a surprising announcement. the actress says she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was 25. now at 39-years- old, smulders wants to share her story to help others. according to self magazine, the actress went through several surgeries, but she is now okay. she was even able to give birth to two girls. doctors say getting ovarian cancer at such a young age is rare, but it is the fifth leading case of cancer death in wome

kropff. and i'm ian reitz. an urgent push this morning from travel experts to check the expiration date on your passport. many u-s passports are about to expire, at the same time big changes are coming to the booklet you need to travel abroad. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live in the newsroom. sarah, why are so many passports expiring around the same time? 10 years ago, new rules made it a requirement for us to have a passport to travel to and from canada, mexico, and the caribbean. so millions of us got a 10-year passport then-- and now they're all about to expire. that could mean much longer lines when you go to renew your passport. and....a longer wait time for your paperwork to process. so travel experts say don't wait until your passport is about to expire before you get it renewed. there are also several changes coming to your passport to enhance security and make sure nobody can
