>> we'll hear more in a moment. first we want to bring bruce gordon on the convention floor. a lot of people were looking forward to hearing from president clinton tonight. >> reporter: look, he's one of the great political communicators of the last 50 years. democrats look to bill clinton republicans look to ronald reagan this obviously bill clinton's night to make the pitch for his wife. some will tell you he make a better pitch for her sean she make for herself. there was plenty of politic in this in terms of the hillary clinton resume this was mostly i think about softening the image of the presidential nominee. so the idea was to let people know what kind of a mother she was. what kind of a change maker she was and to work on very personal level let the resume speak for itself and let others talk about that. >> exactly. also, bruce, much talked about bernie sanders today during the roll call calling for clinton's nomination. what was it leak on the floor

itself? >> reporter: well, it was electric. no question about it. and there are lots of folks giving bernie sanders appropriate credit for this move to try and unify things. but we talk about this last night as you know. bernie sanders has made the case all along this is not about bernie sanders. it's about a political revolution. it's more than just one man. and we saw an example of what he meant by that today unfortunately for bernie sande sanders. he is talking unity but many of his supporters in this building and certainly outside in some of the protests we've seen are not ready non the willing to pivot from bernie sanders to hillary clinton. good news for democrats they've got plenty of time between now and november but right now the lost those bernie sanders supporters are absolutely at least some of them absolutely not ready to support hillary clinton. >> bruce, emotional moment when the mottes movement took the stage. what was their message? >> reporter: well, there were a variety of discussions. a variety of speeches aimed at talking about mostly young

african-american men and their violent did he mice. sometimes at the hands of police and sometimes in other situations. trayvon martin, for example, always a dicey proposition with regard to the republican convention, the democratic convention unfortunately people attended to take sides in this assort of all or nothing. you're either with the police or you're with these young african-american men. there is a middle ground there. there are folks who say, look, both sides have made that are mistake both sides are trying to do the right thing zone it is a very politically risky proposition i would suggest to try to balance it out. are you for this group or for that group? that can be a real challenge. we'll see how it plays out in the days and weeks ahead. >> that's embodied by that local effort picks or peace from south jersey here, bruce. bruce gordon, thank you so much live with us all week. let's take another look at the historic moment that went down in philadelphia today. >> here's when democrats officially nominated the first female major party candidate for

let's take a quick listen. ♪ >> all right. other speakers trending on social media tonight, the group mothers of the movement are made up of mother who's have lost their children to what they call senseless violence. among those on the stage the mothers of trayvon martin, sandra bland, eric garner and michael brown. they say only one candidate will support them in spreading their message against violence giving a strong endorsement to hillary clinton. the group of mothers called for unity. >> police officers are good people doing a good job. and we're asking -- and we're also going to keep using our

voices and our votes to support leaders like hillary clinton. >> yes. >> who will help us protect one another. so that this club of heart broken mothers stops growing. >> some of the victims represented died in altercations with police and that prompted some strong reactions from the local police union angry that the dnc did not include the families of fallen officers as part of the convention. >> tonight the protests continue on day two of the dnc. you can see hundreds of demonstrators marching down broad street. police are closely watching as things intensify earlier with american flags being burned. we are told things have calmed down at this point. well philadelphia police commanders are real heaping praise on the city's bike officers there. they're at the forefront of dealing with large scale protest

the crowd went saw hillary clinton speak via satellite and heard alicia keys. a lot of excitement here today. you don't have to be a delegate to take advantage of the democratic national convention. >> how would you like to take private tour of the white house, oval office or have your picture taken among the pore interest presidents or what about getting a seat on air force one. throngs of visitors and locals alike are enjoying what's called political fest. it's a seven venue interactive tour of exhibits centered on politic, history and government. it doesn't matter whether you're republican, democrat or neither. visitors can get around the venue by shuttle bus you can see priceless artifacts like jfk's him low scene or artificial documents taken right from the white house. >> i've never been to the constitution center before and i've lived here for 18 years now much it's one of those things where you just kind of want to get out, city your city and save some money and be a part of history. >> the political fest runs
