Impossible Dream 2 (1980) I got a copy of The Impossible Dream #2 in 1981 at the Bradford Queen's Hall leg of the 'anti nukes tour': Poison Girls, The Mob, and The Southern Death Cult played - the astounding comic Tony Allen was on the bill but didn't perform. These glossy A3 affairs certainly were luscious productions - buggers to get home from gigs in one neat piece though. Clearly, scale and sheen aren't the sole attributes of The Impossible Dream #2. The visual content throughout is...

Incendiary 1 (1984) packed with great articles and interviews with The Folk Devils and Brigandage (4 pages apiece), New Model Army, Flowers in the Dustbin, and 3D Scream. Editor John Slam kicks-off with the Manifesto for Action: A Declaration of Intent and along the way vents some spleen on Democracy, abolishment of private education, and going through the motions. Elsewhere John offers a brief appraisal of Black Flag/anarchist publications and a short essay, Only Anarchists R Pretty + fanzine...

Jamming 9 (1979) Jamming editor Tony Fletcher reckons #9 was probably the "best issue ever...in terms of pure fanzine energy and confidence". It's difficult to quarrel with his assessment - but then, every issue of Jamming brimmed with 'energy and confidence'. To be fair, Jamming did lose appeal for me from issue 13 onwards, though I still bought it. #9 is rammed with: interviews - The Jam (The Ultimate Interview + 1 page Setting Sons review), Rudi, The Fall + Dragnet review and 1...

Blast 3 (1983) Belfast, Northern Ireland UK Cartoons: Harlequin - Lightning, The Womb Room - Maco, Sk'duddle O'er Binguddey - Scally Wag. Mind you, it's not all cartoons - there are a few interviews: Davy Francis (A Legend in his own Lunchtime) is quizzed by Lightning - as is Pat from behind the counter at Just Books in Belfast. Crass (Lightning and Scally Wag talk to G) + a page of photos from the Anarchy Centre gig, and there's also the remnants of a misplaced interview with Poison Girl,...

All the Poets 2 (1980) London, England UK As promised here's issue 2 of Mark Schlossberg's and John Tottenham's, All the Poets. Shouts go out to the Savage Prodigals: Billy Carless, Anna, Maureen, Lynn, Bernard. Annie Anxiety contributed also and there's a Syd Barrett effort resurrected too. Issue 1 can be seen here along with a rake of poetry tinged offerings. Work on this exceptional atrefact was overseen by Better Badges supremo, Joly McFie who commented recently: "looking at it, I...

In Virtual Worlds, Benjamin Woolley examines the reality of virtual reality. He looks at the dramatic intellectual and cultural upheavals that gave birth to it, the hype that surrounds it, the people who have promoted it, and the dramatic implications of its development. Virtual reality is not simply a technology, it is a way of thinking created and promoted by a group of technologists and thinkers that sees itself as creating our future. Virtual Worlds reveals the politics and culture of these...

(Finnish youth magazine. Pages 53-54 are missing color, probably a misprint in the scanned copy.)

Although heroin use has decreased in the general population during the last few years, a troubling new trend is emerging. Use is up among school-age children and they are now subject to a popular culture in music and films that glamorizes its use. This trend along with increased availability and purity of heroin has created a major health concern for mental health workers and educators. This publication aims to present the latest research findings about heroin abuse and addiction. It explains...
