This is a surreal little movie by Billy Wilder's much-less talented older brother, W. Lee Wilder. It was originally released in a 1:85 aspect ratio. This is an attempt to recreate the original aspect ratio using the best public domain print I could find. The 16mm print seemed to be already slightly cropped and a true 1:85 ratio looked too cramped. This version has been blown-up and cropped at about 1:75, not the correct ratio, but much closer to the intended composition. Killers from Space...

A sleazy Black and White nudie exploitation movie about a bum stalking a woman.  The film was made by the husband wife team of Michael and Roberta Findlay. They directed the film under the names Julian Marsh and Anna Riva. Michael Findlay acts in the film under the name Robert West.  The Findlays also did just about everything behind the camera and use different names on the credits. The film tries to look like an Art film by filling the sound track with poetry. WARNING - The film features...

This is from the 1950 film Yasmin. Egyptian prodigy Feyrouz plays the role of an orphaned girl who teams up with a struggling musician, played by Anwar Wagdi, and they perform together. In this clip Feyrouz demonstrates how gifted she was in many styles of dance, and does some very impressive performances including tap, ballet, tango, rumba and an outstanding belly dance performance at the end.

. Bizarre montage from four 1960s exploitation flicks (believed to be public domain). All show the fetishistic and perverse influence of the underground "roughie" film genre, in particular "Olga's House of Shame". "Maidens of Fetish Street" (1966) shows specialty prostitutes and a fierce whip-cracking madam. Abduction and white slavery is the theme of "Cargo of Love" (1968) and "Tortured Females" (1965), which shows an Irving Klaw stag film...

Key early scene from the classic grindhouse roughie "The Defilers" (1965). In contrast to the crude, amateurish New York sexploitation films (see "Olga's House of Shame" clips), this is the first Hollywood roughie with a developed storyline, characters, and slick production (despite a budget of only $11,000). In other words, a low-budget film that doesn't look cheap. This also appears to be the first movie with a sexual sadist using corporal punishment (spanking) as foreplay...

Trailers for two fetishistic exploitation films from 1967. Both were made in New York and share the same personnel. "Venus in Furs" (1967) directed by Joseph Marzano stars Barbara Ellen. The first film inspired by the famous Sacher-Masoch novel. Contains foot fetishism, animal role playing, and other oddities. "Cool it Baby", directed by Lou Campa, is written by Joe Marzano and also stars Barbara Ellen. More of a "roughie" that copies the "Olga's House of...

"Terminal Island" (1973) is a uniquely dreadful exploitation film set in the near future where convicts are marooned on an island and must fend for themselves. Like an alternate universe version of "Survivor" except with a bit more brutality, slavery, sex, and death. Clips: Here, beautiful Phyllis Davis exhibits perfect form in a seduction bathing scene. Of interest to students of film (and pulchritude) is the final edited version followed by several rare and revealing...

This followup to "Svengali" is another John Barrymore star vehicle, and as such another old school melodrama with touches of horror. However it isn't as dark as "Svengali," and there are moments of deadpan comedy relief provided by Charles Butterworth. The production values are first rate.
