Subject: Good show, not a great show
Regardless of the sound, the show itself is pretty mellow. After Shakedown & Samson the meat of the 2nd set is Ship of Fools, He's Gone & Black Peter. Not exactly barnburners.
At the beginning of He's Gone Bobby apologizes for two slows songs in a row and promises it won't continue. Sadly though he's wrong as the "jam", drums and space are all pretty tame and then we're plodding through Black Peter. In reality the Black Peter is pretty good but at this point its just too much mellow. Miracle, Bertha & Lovin are all solid but not enough to make up for the disappointing follow up to Shakedown.
I give the sound 3 stars and the show 3 stars.
Did I download it? Of course I did. Its a free Dead show! I just left off Alabama, MAMU, River, Easy, Althea, Sailor and everything in between TOO and Miracle due to sound issues and/or boredom. Now I have a pretty solid show that comes in under two hours. This site is the best!
Subject: My bus stop
The Uptown holds many many memories for me. This place only held about ~4,400 seats and it was getting old. One of the former grand dance and movie palaces around Chicago. I noticed during drums in a another 3 show run that some plaster fell from the ceiling. Just added to the lore of that place. I saw some other really aamazing shows there. It needs over $75M to restore today and if I were a billionaire, I'd fix the place myself!

Subject: oh to go back in time to this day!!!
Subject: I don't often leave review / ratings...
This day at work just got a hell of a lot better.
Subject: Listen and enjoy
Theres too much bass in the mix but I used an EQ to fix that and it sounded much better. It is a pretty decent audience but it still doesn't quite capture the full beauty of the Uptown's stellar acoustics. Similar, but much bigger and cooler than the Warfield, the Uptown deserves more fame in the Dead's storied history book.
Listen and enjoy
