Episode #: 002 Main topic: Six ways to find your passion Intro music Welcome message: Hello everyone and welcome to, “Be the Hero”, episode two. I’m your host, Tony Hooker and this is a podcast dedicated to helping you become a person of action so you can find your passion and become the hero of your own story. Let’s get started… Main message: 0:33 - Well hello again, I’m so glad that you decided to join me for the second episode of “Be the Hero”. Today, we are going to be talking about finding your passion. Now, I know some of you are going to be asking “Tony, why are you going to be talking about passion when so many other podcasters, and bloggers, and writers are already talking about it?” I believe the reason it’s being talked about so much is because finding your passion is one of the key building blocks to having a fulfilling, meaningful, successful, and significant life. 1:08 - So today we are going to be talking about six ways to finding your passion. But before we talk about those six things, I wanted to give you the background of how I discovered what my true passion is. You know, when I was younger and going through school, I joined the drama class, I was in the vocal choral, I sang at church, I did a lot of creative writing. And each one of the activities gave me a certain amount of joy and I thought and honestly believed that these were my passions but as I continued to grow and mature the love affair with the drama class sort of faded away. My voice began to change and I realized that singing was not going to be my life’s pursuit. Even my creative writing has matured and evolved. And even though writing is still a big part of my life, it is not my true passion. I enjoy it. I enjoy it because it helps me get out my ideas, but it is not my true passion. My true passion is positive communication between myself and a listener or a reader. What I found is that the act of the drama, the singing, and the writing, and later giving speeches, (I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed my speech class) those things are merely a vehicle for my true passion which is that positive communication. For me there is nothing more exciting than helping someone have that aha moment. Or helping them “get it”, so to speak, when they’re dealing with an issue or a problem. So, while I do enjoy drama, singing, even my writing, those are not my true passion. Like I said, they are just the vehicle for what my true passion is. 3:21 - Now to be clear, when I was young, I didn’t know what my passion was. I simply knew that I enjoyed the act of singing, and writing, and performing. So if you don’t know what your passion is right now, or even after you listen to this podcast, you don’t have a sudden revelation of what your passion is, don’t worry about it. Don’t be discouraged. You will find it. It’s not a race, and that path of self-discovery is part of the journey. So embrace it and enjoy the act of discovery. When you do finally understand what your passion is, it will be the ultimate game changer. You will change how you live your life. I can tell you that from personal experience. When I finally realized what my passion is, it changed almost every aspect of my life. It changed the content I began to consume. The books that I read. It changed the way I approach interactions with my family and friends. It changed my approach my work. It’s even the reason that I have decided to start doing this podcast. So when you have that aha moment and finally understand what your passion is, you can look forward to many positive changes in your life, and how you approach every day and every situation. Now that you’ve heard a little bit about my path, let’s talk about those six ways to finding your passion. 5:14 - The first way to start looking to see what your passion is, is to see where y
