taylor: i want to broaden on why the court might want to read these words into interpretation. there are a number of decisions of the roberts court, where they are sort of standing in the way of efforts to address social problems by either the states or the federal government. striking down section five of the voting rights. the other part of nfib, the court struck down medicaid expansion of the affordable care act. mr. melber: the first obamacare case? ms. taylor: yes sorry. the court upheld the first part of the three leg it stool i described. but the court struck down the mandate under the affordable care act. i fear that the pendulum has swung so we not only not have an activist course -- court looking at social ills and use the law to address them but is standing in the way of efforts by publicly elected officials to name and address social problems. mr. melber: you are also putting your finger on a looming inconsistency. in the first obamacare case, the notion of having high demand on states to get money was considered coercive. in this case, they could potentially reinte

it robert taylor of auburn university found that cool had no effect, no significant affect on canada's export market for beef. and there is further indication from this study that show that it did not -- cool did not negatively impact imports of slaughtered cattle. what likely did drive decrease in imports is a global recession and weak economic recovery. usda monthly data on imports of 400 to 700 pounds of cattle did not show cool having a significant negative effect of imports of feeder cattle from either canada or mexico relative to placements in the u.s. feed lots. and cool has not had a significant negative effect on the price paid for imported slaughtered cattle relative to comparable domestic cattle. if retaliation is approved, it will probably not begin for several months. in the brazil cotton case, it did not begin until 21 months after the final appeal ruling. applied to cool, that time scale would take us to march 2017. we still have options for maintaining u.s. sovereignty. for example, u.s., canada and mexico could make a deal that avoids the imposition of sanctions all to

john taylor is the married robert professor of economic at stanford and many other things at stanford. he was a member of the council economic advisers in the first bush administration and under treasury of secretary -- undersecretary of treasury. he is known as being the creator of the taylor rule three he deny ashley put the name on it, somebody else did. a simple rule of fun. -- he did not put at the name on it, somebody else did. how far the economy is for full employment. john undeveloped the taylor rule in 1993 when alan greenspan was chairman of the fed. alan greenspan was either incapable or unwilling to prescribe his approach to the rest of the world. amazing was heso decided capture the greenspan fed with an equation and ways much more clearer than greenspan was able to explain. if you read the transcript, greenspan talk the same way outside of the fed as inside. the taylor rule have evolved in the use of the yardstick to decide if interest rates are too high or too low. there's legislation pending that to tell when fed they deviate from the taylor rule. bill dudley takes a
