and afghanistan. he has done more of that kind of journalism as national security reporter. this year geremi published a book called "dirty wars." and a documentary version of the book opened up in theaters: he is one of the names along with glen greenwald that will be bankrolled by an ebay billionaire. i sat down with scahill to discuss the documentary and some of the challenges he had when moving from report to this new kind of reporter. thank you for being here. >> good to be back. >> you wrote "dirty wars." and now the documentary. what do you think the documentary could achieve. >> the book itself. i intended it as a resource that was interesting to absorb. i tried it write it in a non-fiction way. with the phi film, i had never e anything like this. we wanted to humanize the people, those who went through night raids and those killed by down strikes. >> you're a print guy and you struggled with the medium a little bit and working with your partners, rick rowley. he said he wanted you to front that story. >> i didn't want to do that. >> what is that concern, a white guy fron

living in darkness, and greg served with the marines as a scout sniper in both iraq and afghanistan. he just returned from israel less than a month ago. great to have you back. >> you said this group saved your life. now, that's pretty dramatic. how did they do that? >> the thing was is that at the time coming back from iraq i was feeling depressed. i didn't have anyone to, you know, counter any things that i was going through. didn't know how to act or what ptsd was. there was a phone call that was made to me from team red, white, and blue that someone knew from heroes to heroes. it was actually august 10th that i got the phone call, and i just visited a v.a. i went went to the v.a. they gave me more medication and said, hey, this is what you need to do, and i told myself i can't take any more medicine. my faith isn't there anymore. i'm going to do something. it's going to be today. i don't want to be here anymore. and i got a phone call that same day. my kids were at school. i was alone at home, and i got the phone call. they said heroes to heroes wants to send someone from the housto

international news to get to. start in afghanistan. american officials denying accusations from president karzai that the u.s. is withholding supplies to gain leverage in the negotiations between the two countries. karzai and his national security council say they believe the u.s. has cut off military supplies and fuel deliveries in order to pressure afghanistan into signing that new security agreement. u.s. embassy officials say that is simply not true. the u.s. government seeking a new deal to keep american troops in afghanistan beyond 2014 but president karzai listed a set of conditions that must be met before he disagrees to an extended u.s. military presence. let's go to other overseas stories. thailand, overnight the prime minister vowing to open every door for talks with protesters demanding resignation. about 30,000 demonstrators taking part in what they call a people's coup. police have been using tear gas and water cannons to keep the protesters at bay. some of whom stormed the state television headquarters. the chaos forced the prime minister yesterday to flee a polic
