a look at the kpix 5 hi-def doppler radar. some really heavy cells moving through the central peninsula and get egg ready to move into san jose. it's been pretty steady rain much of the day. one-two punch as that first front came through at around 8:00 this morning and now a second front is coming through. kind of trailing behind it a little bit of a trough. and you can see some pretty heavy cells going from danville in the east all the way out to the peninsula. in the west. and you can see that right around fremont too there's some pretty good rain coming down that will press south and east over the next hour and a half or so. and in the east bay, you can also see that they've got some pretty steady rain just south of concord and along the 680 corridor. expect more showers tonight. as the evening inwinds some showers especially faving the south bioassays that low pressure pushes the brunt of the rest of the front south and out of the bay area. boy monday another one behind it. in the meantime going for the hills a went storm

kpix 5 reporter mark sayre is in san jose tonight and tells us one group is being cut of altogether. >> reporter: the santa clara water district says it has to cut water supplies by 20% and some customers are getting no water at all. >> efficient way to deliver water. >> reporter: tim says he was more than surprised when he received a letter notifying him that his family farm in morgan hill would lose all of its public water supplies. >> we just thought it was kind of harsh to just cut us off. >> reporter: this 300 acres of garlic is irrigated using untreated water from the santa clara water district. there's a drip irrigation system to deliver the water with 98% efficiency. but due to the district's need to save every drop to purify and send to muni cipal customers, he and 100 other customers will lose their supply. >> everyone is nervous. what's next? we can't grow anything without water. >> reporter: this is where the farm gets its water supply from the santa clara valley water district. come may 1 that water supply goes away. >> this impacts everyone. >> reporter: marty grimes wi

kpix 5's keit do joins us live down in san jose. kiet, santa clara county supervisors will vote on cracking down on those ecigarettes later this morning. >> reporter: yeah, absolutely. after going after fast food joints here in santa clara county, they are now pushing for more public health by wanting to treat these electronic cigarettes the same as regular cigarettes. these devices are battery powered. they use a heating element to vaporize liquid into something that looks like smoke and then they breathe that in and out. the fda says the vapor contains carcinogens. the county says it could be a gateway for teen smoking. what's more, researchers at ucsf followed a small group of 88 ecig users for a year and found they didn't quit or reduce smoking. >> there was no association between having tried an ecigarette and quitting smoking at one year follow-up. >> i never want to smoke a real cigarette again. >> reporter: a lot of these people who use ecigarettes swear by them even though the science is still out. santa clara county debate

they faced tough questions from kpix 5's christin ayers. >> reporter: before a packed crowd in benicia representatives from oil giant valero admitted this publicly for the first time. >> crude oil that's derived from tar sands may be april candidate if it fits our profile. >> reporter: the new project that valero is pitching will very likely roll canadian tar sands, some of the dirtiest crude oil out there, through benicia and to its refinery. and that's not all. are we talking about bakken being transported as well through benicia? >> if bakken crude is one of the crews that's available by rail, it's possible that it could make its way to our plant. >> reporter: he is talking about highly explosive fracked north dakota bakken crude oil the kind that killed 47 people in quebec last summer. 50 trains could snake through this area. 70,000 barrels a day. and people who live here worry it's a recipe for disaster. >> bakken crude from north dakota has been involved in five catastrophic train derailments across the country and in canada. >> reporter: and scientists say canadian tar sands cru
