turning now to cnn legal analyst paul callan and joey jackson. paul first, looking at this, you still, at the end of the day, have two very differing accounts here. you have evidence that puts both of them in the car, right? the gun going off there. you've got explosive -- gunshot residue as well as michael brown's blood on the police officer's uniform. so you know he was in there somehow. the only question is, was he dragged in, or did he take a lunge at the officer? do these new details, in your view, move the dial in the -- in either direction towards officer wilson's account or other witnesses' account? >> i have to say, it moves the dial slightly toward wilson's account. and i say that because there are no surprises here. we both men -- all of the witnesses indicated there was a struggle. the gun went off. so it's not surprising that there would be blood on the gun. there's not surprising that there would be gun on wilson -- there be blood on wilson and blood on mr. brown as well. but here's what's different. there are scratches on the offic

joining us now is criminal defense attorney joey jackson. legal analyst for hln. joey, thanks so much. let's talk about the suspect in this case. we know jesse matthew has been charged but only with abduction with intent to defeel in the case of hannah graham but now that we've remains do you think we'll see more charges filed? >> whenever in a criminal case you find the body to think and imagine her family you send your precious pride and joy off to the university of virginia, a wonderful institution and the issue then becomes how do you get justice if there is justice because she's dead. however, with the finding of the body you have what's called dna evidence. we know a lot about it. right? people watch "csi" and that's significant because what it does it provides a link i would suspect although they are skeletal remains authorities searched the body and choate c and anything in the surrounding area that could be valuable which could link a suspect and if it's jesse matthews would certainly be compelling and damning evidence whatever the dna. and trails evidenc

joining me to talk about this, joey jackson. good morning. >> good morning, carol. >> so, you know, i mean five years doesn't sound like much for killing someone. >> it's a very difficult thing, carol, and i have never worn the black robe but i certainly appear regularly before those that do and it's a difficult decision. if you listen to what she indicated when she was rendering the decision she said, listen, i'm going to do two things. number one, i'm going to ensure the sentence i impose sends the right message to the community. we don't want to send the wrong message. you remember, carol, the defense was really pushing for house arrest and community service. she said i'm not going to do that. that's the wrong message. at the same time, i don't want to be vengeful and i don't want to carry out a sentence which would do anything else but impose some measure of mercy. so judges have to balance the equities. and to the extent as you explained it, it's culpable homicide and that amounts to gross negligence, unintentional so she h

joining me now are joey jackson and brian todd. brian, i'd like to start with you. it isn't just this 2005 case, there's yet another case that had a conviction but is now being reopened as officials try to discover if jesse matthew had anything to do with that. walk us through that. >> that's right, carol. that's the case of alexis murphy. she was a 17-year-old who went missing in august of 2013. her body was never found, but her abandoned car was found in charlottesville. now officials here tell myself and our colleague jean casarez that there is dna testing, foreign dna testing, from her car that's being done at the fbi lab in quantico, virginia. testing to determine whether that dna matches jesse matthew's dna. so even though a body was never found and there is a conviction, a gentleman named randy taylor was convicted in that case of murdering alexis murphy, they are testing this car to see if there are any sign of jesse matthew's dna in that car. >> joey, it seems like that would be a difficult task for police. >> carol, there's a couple things. obviously famil
