seat, gas prices at $6 a gallon. really? some say it is possible by summer. bob redell is live with more. good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you laura, or excuse me, marla. it seems like we are headed there. the price of gas is up there at this 76 station in san jose. it's $4.35 for a gallon of gas. that is a little above average if you look at the latest numbers from aaa. they are reporting gas is averaging around $4.22 a gallon. these prisz prices are up a quarter from a month ago. the recent spike caught the attention of uncle sam. president obama or the justice department set up a task force to show how they are affecting the price of oil. they are interested in seeing if there's illegal manipulation or fraud. oil is trading at over $110 a barrel. some experts think it's grossly overinflated and should be in the $65 to $70 range. they are making a prediction of $6 a gallon of gas by summertime. he has few reasons for thinking why that's possible. one is the dollar. right now, it's hovering near three-year lows as the dollar goes down. the price of energy goes up. co

tough decisions this morning to reduce its $30 million budget deficit. bob redell is live from a san jose station which is one of the oneses slated to be closed, bob. >> reporter: yes, good morning to you, brent. assuming the caltrain board of directors approves this proposal tomorrow to help close that $30 million budget deficit, these are proposals that would be making it more expensive to ride caltrain and less convenient. one of the conveniences would be having this station right here shut down. it's the capital station in san jose. if approved, the proposal calls for this station to be shut down starting in july along with two other stations on the peninsula further north. hayward park and bayshore. caltrain also wants to eliminate ten trains during the weekday, increase the one-way trip fare by 25 cents. parking fees hiked by $10 a month. among other things adding more stops for the express train. that means if you're a commuter and relying on those express trains to get you from san jose to san francisco, your ride will be longer because that train will have to make more stops
