we begin with breaking news in san jose. police in san jose are investigating a deadly shooting at a karaoke bar. live at the scene with the latest for us. damian, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marla. well, this is the second karaoke bar shooting i've covered in the last few months here in san jose. so definitely there a concern. here the scene remains active. the shooting happened at about 2:34 this morning. we don't have much information. homicide investigators at the scene. what we do know so far is that there is a 24-year-old victim who is deceased. the coroner has not arrived. it might be another three or four hours before the coroner arrives. waiting for the homicide investigators to do their thing here at the scene. i asked the -- one of the commanders here at the scene off camera if he knew if the suspect was still at large. he told me, "we're still pursuing initial leads, so we don't want to give any details at this time." unfortunately, we can't tell you if, in fact, a suspect is at large or if he is beh

the city of san jose. mayor chuck reid who called ballooning pensions public enemy number one said this year alone more than half of the city's payroll will go to people no longer on the job. but the attorney for the san jose police association says the court is not likely to consider the city's financial situation nor the fact that voters approved measure "b" by a landslide. >> so this attempt by the city to reduce the value of the pension credit current employees can accrue going forward is, we think, clearly illegal under 65 years of precedent. >> reporter: next tuesday the san jose city council will begin discussing compensation for future employees and an employee's health plan less expensive for the city. a week after that, attorneys for the union plan to ask a judge for a temporary restraining order to stop any action while the court decides. before the unions filed their lawsuits, the city also went to court to ask a federal judge for a review of measure "b." >> it's pretty clear what the voters th
