france seven years in a row "due to seemingly insurmountable evidence that lance armstrong participated in doping and misled nike for more than a decade." the decision came a week after a thousand- page report by the u.s. anti- doping agency, which ordered armstrong's tour de france titles wiped out. "nike was likely waiting to do this. this gave them all the reason they needed." armstrong has denied the allegations but has chosen not to fight them in court. also, armstrong announced he's stepping down as chairman of "livestrong," his cancer- fighting charity, but will remain a visible advocate. donations since august are nearly double last year's.
