roberta with the look at the weather here in the bay area right now. a little calm before the storm i guess? >> a big storm. it's a powerful storm. in fact brian and i were talking about this earlier and probably the most powerful storm since october of 2009 or january -- of 2008. that was how far back you have to go to find the dynamics all associated with that. nevertheless the computer models have been very consistent with bringing the system in and the dynamics associated with it. let's start off with today however, the biggest problem of the morning happens to be the very dense fog in our inland areas around the tri-valley. reporting visibility down to a quarter mile or zero in some locations like pleasanton. otherwise right now just a little bit of light showers noted in between cloverdale and windsor along highway 101. north bay we have light showers likely today. everywhere else you can carry the umbrella to be on the safe side but generally speaking mostly cloudy conditions. 51 to 58 degrees the winds are nonexistent. blow out of the southeast up to 15 today and light showers

the south bay. but let's start with roberta to find out where the storm is headed. >>> we now have the rain showers moving out of the bay area officially as of 3:00 this morning. but just offshore, lurking is yet another batch of rain to move into the bay area. good morning, everybody. it's our hi-def doppler radar. and it does indicate lots of green on the screen and shades of yellow right there poised in position to bounce right into the peninsula in the next 30 minutes. scattered showers throughout the morning and afternoon. it would be advisable to carry an umbrella today and also a light jacket. temperatures considerably cooler at this hour than yesterday at this time. in the 40s and 50s. remember we had all that subtropical moisture yesterday in now it's a pool of cool air that has surged into the bay area with the passage of that frontal boundary. so a jacket, umbrella, out the door. a few scattered showers throughout the day today even a chance of an isolated thunderstorm. but we do have a dry and seasonal weekend on tap. in fact our temperatures are much cooler today than they

monitoring the storm. roberta gonzales has the forecast. >> we have our "eye on the storm." look at the colors on the screen an intensifying area of low pressure right now. we also as we zoom in, into our own local bay area, see that we have lots of little cells that pop up especially around the north bay. the rain is moving in and we already have a flood advisory in effect for marin county. it's seen up to 4" of rain in the past 36 hours. that on top of the two inches of rain that's moving in with this system here. we'll keep an "eye on the storm." >>> the latest round of rain is causing some flooding in southern marin county. business owners were shocked to find water when they went to work today. a marsh area in tiburon was overwhelmed by runoff from a hillside causing excess water to spill across tiburon boulevard which is the main road in town. some businesses across from town hall were flooded, as well. after weather like last week's storm, business owners say today's flooding was very unexpected. the weather is causing two-hour days at sfo right now. 48 flights have been canceled

treacherous, roberta. folks are heading to the north bay area where robertar is saying it's coming down the heaviest at this hour. we are getting report from kcbs cell callers that north 101 just before 580, deep standing water has stopped some of the traffic there. it looks like the flooding is up to several inches in the north 101 near the sandra yell bridge. south 101 moving well leaving southern marin into san francisco. tons of accidents, a lot of solo spinout with cars hydroplaning and this accident involving flooding, two lanes shut down in san carlos. south 101 before holly street, an accident blocking the two left-hand lanes. if you plan to make the commute -- a lot of phoenix do this time of the morning -- you see the yellow southbound 680, an overturned vehicle so expect slow traffic there. at the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound moving well. again, it's going to be a wet ride on the other side of the bridge, westbound 80 near ninth street, expect to see some flooding now on those outside lanes so take it nice and easy, give yourself extra time to get out there. 880 as it rolls t
