alex savidge is there. alex, good morning. what are you learning there this morning? >> reporter: we doll understand that violent crime detectives are looking into -- we do understand that violent crime detectives are look into this death. the victim was found in this home behind us just off of napa road. you can see the place still surrounded by crime scene tape. we understand there is still more evidence to gather inside. the victim was discovered just before midnight here when fire crews were called out. there were several people inside the home at the time. sonoma police work to secure this scene along with sonoma county sheriffs deputies. at this point investigators are characterizing this only as a suspicious death and they are not offering anymore details. we have been told no one is currently in custody in connection with this investigation. i have been in touch with a spokesperson for the sonoma county sheriffs office working to get more information on this investigation as soon as we learn anything more about this suspicious death here in sonoma we will brin

ktvu fox 2 alex savidge is there in berkeley. you are getting new details so what do you know about the victims? >> reporter: we learned from navy base that there was a 21st birthday party. now we have also just learned that some or all of the victims in this case were young irish citizens. i want to show you a statement from ireland's foreign affairs minister. it reads my heart goes out to the families and loved ones of the deceased and those that have been injured in this appalling accident. the 911 calls started coming in just after 12:30 this morning. police got here and found the balcony on the fourth floor came down toppling. alto fall of five people were killed in this collapse and eight others were hurt. some of the people that were hurt have life threatening injuries. berkeley place are still searching through evidence. and maybe the most surprising part about all of this is that this is not an old structure. this building was built just about ten years ago. it has residential units, a number of them up above and it has

alex savidge has been out there since 4:00 this morning. i know the firefighters are still working hard out there, alex? >> reporter: they are. certainly those hot, dry conditions that helped that fire grow yesterday afternoon similar conditions on tap for today here in this area. firefighters, they have been out here through the night just keeping an eye on the hot spots with see from time to time. some smoke rising from the hillside beyond us here. as we go to the left-hand side, you can really see just how close these flames came to some of the homes in this area. they have burned right down this hill and very close to these backyards here. obviously, this was quite a nerve wracking situation for people who live in this area. the good news is that this fire is 100% contained. and that fire quickly grew to about 500 acres yesterday with helicopters and air tankers coming in to make drops. those flames crept dangerously close to a number of homes. there were people evacuated mainly along grim's beach drive. those homes back up to the contr

ktvu fox 2 reporter alex savidge is joining us live from the city with the traffic enforcement patrol that is under way. alex. >> reporter: sal, good morning to you. this operation here along the embarcadero it just kicked off minutes ago and take a look here. you can already see officers have made a number of stops. we probably counted at least 10 or so so far here. solos as they call them here. they are pulling over cars and drivers that are speeding, violating the rules of the road. they really want to crack down on speeding along the embarcadero. we're told it's a real issue. the speed limit 35 miles an hour and they obviously have found a lot of people going a bit faster than that this morning. they are also looking at reckless driving. also making sure the drivers yield to those pedestrians. very important issue here in the city of san francisco where pedestrians continue to be struck by cars. this is a special joint enforcement operation involving the san francisco police department and the chp. they have the radar gun out and looking for drivers, violating the rules of the roa

ktvu fox 2's alex savidge live in danville to show us that damage. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning to you. this war memorial is tucked away here in the back of oak hill park. and let me show you what's been done. crews have done what they can to scrub off some of the paint left behind over the weekend. this according to police was the work of vandals and police right now are hoping that surveillance video can help them identify the people who did this. as we push off into the distance there you can probably see there is a camera right above the walking path that leads to this memorial. let me show you there is another camera at entrance to the park as well. when i walked in underneath this camera it snapped my photo and issued a verbal warning about committing acts of vandalism here. there were four spots where this memorial was painted over the weekend. if one case they made reference to an anti-government website. they also wrote the phrase "let's get high " one of the men who helped create the memorial 20 years ago calls this act of

alex savidge is live at snowe to tell us how -- sfo to tell us how passengers are reacting to the news. >> reporter: good morning. if you can well imagine, travelers concerned after hearing about this report. this was an internal investigation done by the tsa. it found major security failures at airports all across the country. what's unclear is if there are any lapses in particular here at sfo. but undercover agents were able to smuggle prohibited items, things like fake explosives and weapons through checkpoints in 67 out of 70 attempts. these investigators are what's known as a red team and their goal was to test the effectiveness of airport security. in one case an undercover agent with a fake bomb strapped to his back set off a machine but in a subsequent patdown, the screener failed to find the device. passengers say it's difficult to understand but it won't stop them from flying. >> i don't think you can have perfect security without it coming at a huge cost. i think we just take a risk. i think the government is working a lot of other ways to stop terror and i think that the ts
