meteorologist doug hill. leon: doug is in the weather center. what is the latest with where things stand at this hour? doug: there is heavy duty weather action but this is north of the metro area. the entire region indicates severe thunderstorm watch until 11:00. these boxes of the yellow indicate active severe thunderstorm warnings all north and northeast. tornado warnings until now in effect for parker county maryland. now we have seen the highest reports of the winds and the heaviest rain and hail in the eastern segment across the bay. that is where the worth of it will be. we are interested in the metro area. some heavy storms in the northwest montgomery county to the north of the district. farther west they are more clusters of storms as they develop. they may ser swipe to washington later this evening. there is a lot of heavy duty action. take a look at the breadth and the length of the storm. the eastern part of the storm prediction center that over northern delaware they could have 75-mile-per-hour wind guests. we'll just miss the worst

doug? >> yesterday at this time, amelia was in some of the shade, i guarantee she is on the hot side for sure. everybody really is. look at these numbers now, into the low 90s for the most part 93 in d.c., 49 fredericksburg, 95 leesburg, the record high temperature, 95 degrees, very close to that. the humidity is even higher. that is helping to produce some showers and thunderstorms. notice this line of storms making its way off toward the east. now most of these have heavy downpours but moving fairly quickly, not too worried about these, don't expect them to become too strong. there are stronger storms through haigers up to clark county, virginia, frederick county, virginia, winchester, 81 toward front royal, 66 the next few hours. this whole line will move off toward the east. once again not expecting it to get any stronger than this. most of the storms just scattered showers and a few thunderstorms as they move on through the after into. talk about these as they come up in the afternoon.

doug: hi; doug hill back with an update in the storm watch weather center. now we have five five separate thunderstorm warnings in effect across the area. check doppler radar and give you an update. the polygons have thunderstorms. they will expire at different times. the far east to howard and anne arundel county after 6:00. everybody else will be around the 6:00 hour including this set of storms west of pointer rocks that is headed to barnsville across the potomac to clarksville and germantown. the other area to frederick, maryland. another east through woodbine and over western around the northern section of the how should county along the interstate 70. as it goes from east to west across baltimore to frederick. we have another one northeast of baltimore. we have a lot of it. it is not surprising. a strong line of development along the cold front. the lightning is impressive as is the possibility of hailstones to quarter size. winds to 60 miles per hour. torrential downpours as well. we will continue to monitor the storm. kimberly: the search for relieve

we will start off with doug hill who is outside. it must be hot there? doug: we are pushing at 90 degrees right now and it's only noon. we are going to go a lot higher. there is no severe thunderstorm watch, we expect want to be issued before long. let me show you the maps. this is the entire metro area. the air temperatures will be in the upper 90's. the heat index feels over 100. it's 91 degrees at reagan national airport. it's 93 in fredericksburg. when you figure in the moisture, it feels like 103 degrees in washington. it feels like 102 degrees in fredericksburg. even in dover, it feels like 100 degrees. if we hit 98, it will be the hottest day so far. this is the 19th time we've topped 90 degrees. anytime after 3:00, we could be dealing with severe thunderstorms. we expect others to be issued before long. severe thunderstorms are going to be a real concern as we head through the late afternoon and into early this evening. the story is how to deal with the heat and the humidity out here. kellye lynn is just up the hill. how are people getting by? ke

doug doug, what is the latest? >> track the videoing to severe thunderstorms making their way through a new effect in prince county, fairfax county, loudoun, herndon reston the city of fairfax. fairfax county and the city of fairfax under a warping for the second time today. look at the line of storms. you continue to watch this line making its way through fairly quickly, the entire area under a tornado watch until 8:00. here is one warning, includes northern fauquier county. western loudoun. this storm has died down. the primary storm is toward front royal, back toward the west. we can see that storm be warped storm and the other storm. right now, this storm starting to have a bow and we could see winds punching through northern prince william county along 15 in through portions of loudoun county, south of the sterling areas. this is the airport right here. this is going to go right across dulles over toward reston and reston town center. heads up if you live in this area. this storm could be packing a big punch.

doug: i'm doug hill in the belfort furniture. we have hot and humid weather returning. we are focused on the weekend weather minutes away at "abc7 news at maureen: we know the name of a little girl killed after a racing boat hit a crowd at the narrows this weekend. 7-year-old julianne rosela who is seen in the go fund me page and died after being thrown in water with several other spectators. a witness who helped pull some of the other victims from the water says the racing craft clipped his boat first and possibly saved lives. >> if it hadn't hit my motor there was 20 people next to me tied up it would have wiped them all out and taken everybody. maureen: racing organizers won't comment on a report that it lost the rudder and the ability to steer. the coast guard is investigating. july 4 is days away. but already there are reports of serious injuries. and deaths associated with fireworks. a 12-year-old died in nashville when the mortar he was holds exploded in his hand. man died in a michigan accident. in ohio nine people were injured when a box failed in a public show

doug: leftover flooding. it is usually the same areas we get heavy rains, the same spots that flood first. severe weather has moved out of the area. we pick up coverage with live doppler radar. just to the east, across the chesapeake they, we find a line of very heavy storms that cause flooding, lightning, a possible tornado. they are into charles, st. mary's, and calvert county. several severe thunderstorm warnings along maryland's eastern shore. the bigger picture shows all the intense rain in all these areas to the north have put much been rain and thunder. closer to the warm front -- the worst weather has slowly crept northward all day. plenty to go around. so a few lingering showers and storms. a few lingering showers to the west. we may see a shower later tonight. as far as the watches go, tornado watch still in effect for southern maryland, northern middleton. i suspect this will be dropped before long. it is set to expire at the :00 tonight. 2.79 inches of rain today. about the same in annapolis chevy
