day. mornings on 2 continues. >>> good morning. thank you for joining us tuesday morning august 25th i'm pam cook. >> good morning, i'm brian nor res in for dave clark. unlike dave i did not step outside. but it could be a little warmer. >> it will be warmer today. the fog is still there but it will burn off sooner. already a couple breaks in the low cloud deck and there is plenty to go around. not much of an inland push. we have sunshine yesterday. expect that today even by the coast. low clouds. mostly clear. warmer for most. especially away from the coast. even though there is a lot of folks by the waters edge. 22 gusts 26. coming down. napa has been coming down. west at oakland. after that there is not much of a breeze. 50s and 60s. a lot of 50s here. napa down to 52 cool degrees. over all low clouds sunshine and warmer temps. getting warm to hot inland. upper 80s and 90s through the interior. 70s and 80s around the bay. all quiet now. >> we're getting more slow traffic but we have fewer accidents which you know is good. i think you know that fewer accidents is good for the commute. let's go out and take a look at what we have now. i can show you the traffic is going to be slow. 10-15 minute delay before you make it on to the bridge. 580 is behind schedule. we had a couple earlier things happen there. 580 is slow through livermore and dublin. but we had an earlier crash at the 680 interchange that has been cleared. 80 looks good today. yesterday we had that big problem. today it's a different commute from hercules to richmond it's actually decent as you head down to the south bay or down to the middle of the bay it looks all right. let's take a look at one more live picture. this is the south bay. northbound 280 as traffic here is looking good. 6:01 let's go back to the desk. >>> more than a dozen people forced out of their homes this morning after a fire in san francisco's mission district. ktvu alex savidge is live on shotwell street where the fire started at is a care facility for senior citizens and ali, hoping you're getting some answers from firefighters soon? >> right. we have been told the battalion chief will be out here an hour from now and hopefully he might be able to give us insight into how the fire started. where and when it started i can tell you. this building right here behind us the fire started around 11:00 last night on the top floor. we have the light shining on it so you can see the damage even though it's dark out. a little bit of the outside of those windows you can see the smoke damage as well as the windows being broken and the interior of that top floor unit is completely burned out. firefighters had the fire under control by 12:30 this morning. one person was treated for smoke inhalation and went to the hospital. the fire did spread to the building next to it. between these two buildings a total of 15 piemen a dog were displaced by the fire. volunteers worked over night to help those people stay. according to the red cross, many of the people living in that main building are particularly vulnerable because he says this building is not just an apartment or a home, it's actually a care facility. >> there is some older special needs folks that are there with some care givers who take care of them. it's a tough thing many of these folks don't have a lot of resources and it's a very tough job. >> reporter: the red cross coordinator out here says they have found a temporary place to stay for most of the people displaced. although a few of the residents wanted to stay with friends and family. a couple of them staying in the building next door that doesn't have quite enough damage. they are saying even though that second building doesn't have power. there is no word on what caused this fire or how it started but about an hour from now we have been told we may with be hearing from the battalion chief and get more information on how the fire began. but for now they have had a fire crew out hero every night and through the morning hours. brian and pam back to you guys. >> thank you. >>> time is 6:04. the man accused of killing hayward police sergeant scott lunger could enter a plea in court today. michael strata has been charged with murder and three special circumstances. officer lunger was shot and killed during a traffic stop on july 22nd. ray stray da suffered a gunshot wound. >>> this morning we are starting to see some clues wall street could have a better day today after a rough day of financial markets yesterday. alex savidge is joining us now with the indicators pointing to a possible rebound. >> >> reporter: wall street futures are up. and china is trying to ease falling stock prices in that country. china's central bank made that announcement they are cutting the main entrance rate by one quarter%. it's a significant move. now the shanghai index china's biggest market did drop for the fourth straight day. still though here in the u.s. investors are hoping for that turn around today after yesterday's roller coaster ride on wall street. the dow initially went into a free fall that dropped 1,000 points in the opening minutes and then it did recover about half of that before the close yesterday. that stock plunge had investors wondering if they needed to cut their losses and get out of the market. a senior economist at wells fargo said that would be an over reaction. >> they had a record of controlling their economy reasonably well. there is a sense they are losing that control to an extent. >> reporter: now beyond china, other asian markets were less volatile during trading today. and european markets did rise shortly. trading gets under way within a half hour from now. u.s. markets go through a correction about every year or so and the last one we had was 2011. so we are -- you guys, long over due for one. this could be it. the realignment we've been waiting for. >> if you're about ready to retire it's alarming to have these huge market swings. but they say you just have to ride it out. >> thank you. >>> cardinal william leva da has been arrested for dui. he was pull the over after a -- pulled over cooperate with authorities. >>> san francisco police are investigating a burglary at the campaign office of aaron peskin. he told the san francisco chronical his office closed the office around 8:30 saturday night. when they returned someone broke in and took ten computers. it was not a big financial loss because the computers were inexpensive and had very little information on them. >>> the city of napa celebrated an economic resurgence. one year after a 6.0 earthquake caused $360 million in damage to the area. >> napa was truly put to the test. but napa came together and we worked hard and
