he did not have the paper one year at rochester and then started working at rochester when the civil war broke out. one of the first volunteers to respond. less than 48 hours and he signed up. he saw a new direction for himself there. he was injured pretty severely. he injured his back severely. injury andtated that went back and served again for more than a year. back andred his suffered other injuries and shrapnel. he finally called it quits at the end of 1863. when back and finished school and got a law degree. carolina andorth came as part of a group. he came with his wife's family and his wife's parents. and some of the friends who are business earners. because theredown were cheap lamps and good business opportunities. the state of north carolina was recruiting people with capital to invest and skills to help lead the modernization of the state. he came with expectations that he would be part of a wider movement than just bringing north carolina to the modern world. but he got caught up in the politics of what was going on when in the initial stages of reconstruction, african a
