who could shoot and kill their mother and grandmother an elderly woman in her 80s. katherine scott is live with the latest on the investigation. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, mary morton was a mother of 6 and grandmother and great grandmother. she was shot and killed inside her germantown home yesterday. so far no arrests. friends and family of mary morton are incomplete shock after the 83-year-old was shot to death inside her germantown home around 12:30 yesterday afternoon. >>> this right here, this is not her. something that happened like this to her, it don't add up. >> reporter: police say morton was shot twice in the chest. she was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. detectives carried out bags of evidence from the 4 home. neighbors say her husband is in his 90s and has alzheimers and remained in the home while detectives investigated. the neighbors are in disbelief. >>> she was nice and walked afternoon the neighborhood and open with everyone. >> reporter: detectives recovered a weapon inside the home, but they have not released any

news" reporter katherine scott is live outside temple university hospital where that father is being treated. katherine reporter: matt, that's right, the father is 35 years old. he remains here at temple university hospital in critical condition. he was shot in his neck. he was pistol whipped and now has lacerations to his head. this all happened as you said as he was waiting to pick up his son. let's go to video of the stolen pickup truck that was recovered minutes after it was stolen in west kensington late yesterday afternoon. this happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. police say the victim had been waiting to pick up his 13-year-old son at a home on the 2000 block of north bodine just before 5:00 p.m. that's when two men approached him. police say they dragged him from his 2016 dodge ram pickup truck pistol whipped him and shot him in his neck. they left him lying in the road bleeding and took off in the pickup truck but dumped the vehicle about six blocks away. police did see private surveillance cameras and they're searching the vehicle for other evidence. >> the vehicle that

highway. katherine scott is live at george reid middle school in new castle where counselors will be on hand today. >> reporter: that's right, matt, this happened yesterday afternoon and word quickly spread throughout the school community. grief counselors will be at the george reid middle school to help the children as they try to copy with the news. this happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. not too far from here, on route 1 by basin road in new castle. 14-year-old tyler spawn and three oarnlgs teenagers were -- other teenagers were trying to cross route 13, tyler stepped in front of 21-year-old. tyler was struck and hit had it and died at the hospital. police are reminding people this is a busy road and people should not risk crossing outside a crosswalk or intersection. the teens were a quarter mile away from a pedestrian foot bridge. the driver remained on the scene. investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash and police say no charges will be filed in the case. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >>> okay, katherine thank you for that. new o

. two people died when a car slammed into a peco building on columbus boulevard. katherine scott has more from the scene. >> reporter: this was a violent crash season witnesses say that it appears that the suv was speeding before slamming into the mazda and came to rest on the sidewalk. lni deemed the building structurally sound. a passenger and a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead. >> she did not hit the brakes or nothing. >> he was traveling behind this mazda on columbus boulevard at 2:30 when his dash-cam video captured the fatal crash. >> she was doing 70 to 80 miles per hour. he says he saw the car speeding and running red lights and then you can see it happen, the driver clipped the median several times and fish tails and there were sparks and then jumps the curb and bounces off the building and on to the sidewalk. >> i look in and ran back to my car and grabbed the phone and called 911. >> mcgibbons says the driver was initially unconscious as was the woman in the front seat, a passing taxi driver pulled the passenger out. and two were pronounced dead on the scene. >> they do

"action news" reporter katherine scott is live at temple university hospital where that victim is being treated. katherine. >> reporter: matt, that's right, this 35-year-old victim was sitting in his pickup truck waiting to pick up his son when it happened. the victim remains here at temple university hospital this morning in critical condition. he was shot in his neck. he has lacerations to his head from being pistol whipped. let's go to video of that stolen pickup truck that was recovered minutes after it was taken in west kensington late yesterday afternoon. this happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. police say the victim had been waiting to pick up his 13-year-old son at a home on the 2000 block of north bodine. that's when two men approached him. police say they dragged him from his 2016 dodge ram pickup pistol whipped him and shot him in his neck. they left him lying in the road bleeding and took off in the pickup truck but dumped the vehicle about six blocks away. >> the fact that it's a 2016 high end vehicle it makes sense for carjackers to find t
