for chris christie. yesterday donald trump tapped the new jersey governor and former republican presidential candidate to lead transition efforts for president-elect trump if he wins the general election in november. christie will be in charge of staffing up the trump white house. so we got that news about chris christie hiring the trump administration staff yesterday. and that turned out to be incredible timing because today we got news that the bridgegate scandal which tore apart christie's own administration in new jersey, the bridgegate scandal is roaring back to life with a very interesting vengeance. the bridgegate scandal, it's been going on three years since a few chris christie political allies and staffers allegedly closed access lanes onto the busiest bridge in the world as some sort of act of political retribution. this fall a federal trial is scheduled to start in newark, new jersey, involving two of those three former christie allies. a third one has already pled guilty and is cooperating w

the long steep fall of chris christie. that story after this break. . >>> cast your mind back to a different time almost five years ago. it was the fall of 2011 when new jersey governor chris christie was in demand. republicans seeing them as their last great hope, lobbying him to enter the presidential race. the pressure became so intense christie addressed the issue at a press conference in trenton. by november of the next year, his ratings in the blue state of new jersey were a whopping 67% -- 77%. later he rode that wave of popularity to a second term winning by a landslide and cementing his reputation as a republican star. now 2 1/2 years and one bridge scandal later, chris christie is occupying a different space in the republican party in new jersey. after dropping out of the gop primary race without winning a single state, he went on to endorse donald trump. he had a very distinct i'm here against my will feel to it all. which led chris christie to announce in fact, no, he was not being held hostage by donald trump.
